We stayed at Williamsburg Campground this summer for seven nights as we were taking our grandchildren for the Yorktown, Jamestown and Historical Williamsburg experiences. We enjoyed a full hookup site. This campground is in perfect proximity to all three historic spots as well to Busch Gardens which we went to with the two day pass to break up the large amount of history. This all worked out very well. The campground is very nice, and well taken care of. George is the head of maintenance and grounds, and he makes sure that things get done. The grass is cut, the staff will pickup your bagged trash if you set it out on your site by 9am, picnic tables with umbrellas was a nice addition and the gas grill at each campsite makes cooking easier for the campers. Staff will deliver ice and firewood to your campsite. The swimming pool with splash pad was a big hit with the grandchildren and made the choice of staying at this campground easy. They also have an activity building that features things to do like a basketball shooting game, tabletop shuffleboard, a pool table, giant checkers, various board games, and more. There is a laundry room adjacent. There is a kid jumping pillow, playground, hiking trails, disc golf, and lots more. WiFi was good and the grounds are secure. We enjoyed our stay here. The cost per night of our stay seemed a bit high at first sight but with the many amenities the cost smoothed out once on site. A couple negatives I have is that a $10.00 price tag for a small bag of firewood was very disappointing and over the top. Also, we made our reservations early to ensure locking in on the available site of our choice but then were forced to pay an additional $10 fee to guarantee that they didn't move us into a site that would not be our preferences. Even so, we would stay here again if we wanted to spend more time in this area. read more

We stayed in a deluxe cabin for a week. No major complaints. We only spent evenings here as we were gone most of the days at Williamsburg etc. My only complaints are that the couch is quite stained. I put a sheet on it before sitting on it. The door and doorframe could use some cleaning! Clorox spray and a Mr clean eraser ! I brought wipes to wipe down all surfaces and remotes . Not sure those are disinfected at any lodging so I bring my own. Tv was a nice surprise! read more

We stayed in a camping cabin and we really enjoyed ourselves. The family amenities are so many and not crowded. The staff really takes care of the customers, they're very welcoming and helpful. They keep the grounds tidy, and neat. They have bathrooms and showers that were clean! I'd definitely recommend this place for camping with kids or without it. read more

I have stayed here several times now and this last stay was super disappointing. I decided to take my family on a last minute weekend getaway to Busch gardens. I figured staying here would be great as the previous experiences but the first night turned into a horror show. Knowing that we would be late I called ahead of time to let them know we would be checking in after hours. The lady I spoke to on the phone said no problem, we will be sure to leave the light on in the cabin for you along with turning the ac on. Upon arrival I was disgusted with the condition of the cabin (mind you we have stayed in several other cabins here at this campground and never really had any issues). It was after hours so I figured I would address the issues in the morning. Issues being the cabin looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months. There were dead bugs laying all over the floor, cobwebs and spiders everywhere and just over filthy (the mattress on the bed was even torn). These are conditions I would expect from a roadside motel not a family campground. That night I ended up getting stung by a hornet and had an allergic reaction. It was a miserable night (my kids didn't sleep because they were scared of all the bugs). And while I get it, we are camping there will be bugs, but I mean come on this was way worse then even tent camping (see pictures). The cabins are deteriorating with holes in the floor boards and on the outside looks like termite damage. I brought the issues up to the lady in the morning and she seemed very apologetic and said she would be sure to share the issues with the manager Peter. She did offer to move our cabin but we were already on our way to Busch gardens and I really don't have time to pack up all my stuff when I'm only staying the weekend. My husband had sprayed and had cleaned while I took a shower in the morning which shouldn't have been our job to do. When coming back from the park I stopped in to speak with the manager Peter and was rudely interrupted by one of the employees who got super defensive and said the cabin was cleaned the day before and that there was no way there were all those cobwebs and bugs. Peter the manager seemed like he could care less, looking down at his paper while I talked to him about the issues. I showed him my allergic reaction and he was like oh here is some burn cream.. what is that going to do for me?! No I'm sorry let me investigate or nothing, like might as well said who cares lady. Like I said it was a huge disappointment because normally this place I love to visit but now I might as well stay at a roadside motel when returning. read more

This was the most amazing experience! 1st time RV for me. Had some trouble getting the water working properly on the rental RV. Gary the owner came to the rescue! Gary patiently helped me trouble shoot until the water was flowing. The campground is immaculate with tons of amenities. Bathroom & showers were spotless every time and fresh smelling! Couldn't have asked for a better stay! We stayed in a deluxe Cabin. We have never stayed at a KOA before and are already planning our trip back. We were coming to go to Busch Gardens and didn't love the idea of the hotels nearby and thought we would take a shot and stay here. It was beyond wonderful! The cabins were spotless and super comfortable. (I should say here I am picky on this stuff). My two girls loved the bunk beds and the playground. Wow. I stayed here for two nights solo with my twin toddler girls in the deluxe cabin. The cabin was KL4. It was by far the best location of a cabin we've had there. The fire pit is semi-secluded and parking isn't right in the walk way. Anyways, my daughter for reason became ill in the night and the staff went way above and beyond to help us. Tom, Rosie and Tonya were such great helps to me. I couldn't have done it alone. Thanks so much guys for such a memorable weekend. Cheers. read more

We stayed at the Williamsburg KOA for the weekend of July 30 through August 1st with my wife Amy and 11 year old son. The campground was located about 7-10 miles from a good amount of Williamsburg activities like: Historic Williamsburg Merchant Square, Colonial Williamsburg, Outlet Shopping, and Busch's Gardens/ Water Country USA. We stayed in a small cabin with a full bed and 2 twin bunk bed. The log cabin was rustic and quaint. It had plenty of room for the three of us. Although it was a really hot weekend in July, the cabin AC was cranked the stepped up to challenge. We brought our own linens and disinfected the commonly touched areas a bit. The room was clean. Campground is large but the road traffic seems to be well managed with speed bumps. We saw several groups of children enjoying themselves at the parks multiple activities: pool, sluice box, bounce pad and playground. The park was clean and well organized. The bathrooms were not checked or cleaned often enough. We used the bathroom near cabin 26. There were only (2) toilets for a large amount of area that this bathroom covered. The overuse led to dirty, clogged toilets and nasty showers (won't go in gross detail but nasty!). This could easily be remedied with a more robust inspection schedule. After I informed the front desk about the issue, the clog was resolved, but a few hours later it became nasty again. A modernization of the bathrooms would definitely elevate this KOA location. read more

The two stars are for the employees. They are all super nice and good people. But extended stay gets treated like 2nd class citizens at the bottom of the hill. The store never opens and there is no rec room like there is supposed to be. The pool is always dirty and has probably been there since the campground opened.The spots are all swampy and you pay more than it is worth. If you go 20 mins out of Williamsburg you can find nicer camp grounds that are worth the price. Stay away from Williamsburg campgrounds unless your only staying a couple nights. You will save at least 400 a month. read more

Not a bad place to spend a few days. Lots of amenities for kids. The cabins are relatively comfy but do have a bit of a funk about them. Hopefully you didn't come here for screen time, as the TVs don't work well, and both cell service and WiFi are spotty. Or for cooking, as the gas grills are equally dodgy. But lower your expectations and enjoy. Be aware of the cancelation policy. One of the families in an adjacent cabin had to leave early and were not refunded, but their cabin was rented the same night to another party. read more

Stayed here for my boyfriends 21st, we had so much fun. Beautiful trails and once the sun starts going down fireflies are everywhere. Magical! Due to covid you sign up for 45 min blocks for the pool which seems so short, and it was still packed. We stayed in the kiddie pool just to have some space. Bathrooms were a little far from our cabin but it was nice to have our own space. On friday there was a petting zoo with a bunch of baby farm animals. Loved that! read more

This is was our first time in this KOA. The park is clean and the staff is really nice. The cabins were so nice and cleaned. the kids had a great time with all the free amenities that they offer, they have a park, a play room with a pool table, ping pong. basketball and other things. they also have a big heated pool outdoor and they have bike rentals for $5 bucks. we had so much fun and definitely coming back this summer. read more

We enjoyed our stay at this campground! When we first arrived and were escorted to our site, we parked our 5th wheel into the site and realized it just wasn't going to work. The site was narrow and the passenger side of our camper, which is a wall of windows, felt way too close to the camper parked in the site next to us once our slide came out. This might have worked for a smaller camper, but not for our 41 footer. We had reserved for 12 days and with 3 active boys, a big goofy Labrador, and knowing how much we use our outdoor kitchen and the picnic table, we needed more space to our site! We asked the campground's manager, Robb if we could move to a different spot and he was very helpful and accommodating. Even though he had to work around other scheduled reservations to find us a better spot, he never made us feel like we were a burden! He offered another site on the end of the same row with a large grassy picnic area and where our passenger view was completely private. It was perfect and our boys loved the close proximity to the pool! Next to the jumping pillows, the pool, which is large and very well maintained, was a huge hit with our boys. They also have bike rentals, a game room, gem mining, cornhole, and a playground with a "gravity rail". When we weren't sightseeing around Williamsburg, our boys remained completely occupied with all the campground activities/amenities. The grounds were clean and well maintained, garbage pickup from each site was scheduled and always consistent, and WiFi was reliable enough for hubs to have his daily video conference calls for work. Campground bathrooms/showers were clean during our visit and with good water pressure. I can't speak to the laundry facility as we use our own washer/dryer in the camper due to detergent allergies and sensitive skin issues in our family. Definitely a great campground for families with kids! During our 12 day stay, sites closest to the pool and especially closest to the camp office were always filled with families with kids. If quiet camping (aka minimal noise from kids and/or groups) is more your thing, request sites on the far end of the campground, closer to the pavilion. If we find ourselves camping in Williamsburg again, this KOA will definitely be our first choice! read more

GWe have stayed at this campground many time and definitely will come again. It is close to the Colonial Triangle and easy access from the highway. It has lots of trees and the sites are fairly large and shaded. The dog yard is rather small but well fenced and also shaded The campground is well maintained and staff is outstanding. We spoke to Joyce several times in changing our dates and campsites. She was pleasant and patient and tried very hard to accommodate us. We will certainly be back. read more

I'm not an expert camper and in my adult life have visited a total of two camp sites but if you are up for a cheap version of Glamping, then this is the place for you. The staff really has this place together! They were very welcoming and very present to keep the campground and campers in order leading to great campsite experience. Since I'm not a routine camper, we rented one of their cabins which had electricity, heat, air conditioning, and a TV with lots of channels. The only slightly difficult thing to work with was that the cabins we were in are on a hill so the ground was very uneven as we tried to sit around the campfire at night. oh well, I'm supposed to be enjoying nature, i think : ) The camp site had the coolest "giant inflatable pillow" to jump on which is definitely something I'd never seen before. What a blast! The playground could use a renovation but suited our kiddos for entertainment. They also provided a movie on an outdoor screen and Easter Egg hunt the next morning. We had a great time and would definitely recommend this site to REAL campers : ) read more

The manager called us when we were almost to the campground, and asked us if we would like to upgrade to a cabin for $10 more a night. He seriously saved our vacation, we always camp in tents... but he saw in the weather that lighting and heavy rain were expected all week, and he wanted to make sure we were safe & happy. This campground was wonderful, close to everything we needed & wanted. We stayed for five days to go to Bush Gardens. Our two kids (9 & 11) were so happy at the campground, that when we had a free day to go explore the surrounding area & find fun things to do, they wanted to stay right in the campground. The pool was great (when it wasn't storming). I loved that there was only a tiny section that was over my kid's heads. It was nice & clean, and there was a splash pad for younger kids. There were all kinds of activities that we could have participated in if we had more time. There were bikes you could rent by the hour, and playgrounds for the kids, bounce pads that my kids raved over. All of this kept them busy while I cooked meals on the back deck of our little cabin. It was so cute and clean. And thank God, AIR CONDITIONED!!! It was so hot the whole time we were there, but rained & stormed every night. The only thing that kept me from giving them 5 stars, is the bathrooms. I can only rate for the ladies room...The sink and toilet area were fine. The showers not so much. They needed some bleaching! And a good scrub brush! I always dread showering at campgrounds for this reason... you just never know how clean it's going to be. If they got someone in there to take care of that problem, this would be 5 stars!! read more

We just finished a weekend stay with our kids and enjoyed ourselves, but we were very disappointed in our cabin site. We stayed in a basic camping cabin and the fire pit in front was nearly unusable because of how uneven and steep it was. We could barely sit our chairs there to relax and my 3 year old cried every time she tried to walk around. It made me very nervous to have a campfire with the kids, which is our favorite part of camping. The full size bed was also broken which we didn't realize really until Saturday night (we got in late Friday) and sagged on one side. The pool was decent, the parks were nice. The gravity rail didn't work well which was disappointing but still fun. I did have to ask to have it unlocked at 9am after we'd been waiting for 20 minutes and received some strut about how they open it between 930 and 10, when they get around to it, even though the sign clearly said 9am. Overall it wasn't a bad weekend, I'm not sure we'd go again though. read more

This campground is family owned, with very attentive and friendly staff and a super convenient location to colonial Williamsburg. The sites were close together and quite tight, but we were escorted by staff to the site and they made sure we got backed in okay! They hosted activities all weekend long and the grounds were very wooded and tranquil with lots to do for kids. We will stay her again next time we are in the area. read more

Not well maintained at all it is very hilly so the cabins are like 10 feet of the ground and the deck boards are al rotted out halfway through the board and there are big nails that I stepped on and went through my flip flop and broke skin there were tons of carpenter bees and wasps they were making nests and chewing holes in the beams that were holding up the deck roof . then I went to play pool in the game room and the tip was broken off of the cue and their was three balls missing and when I asked about it the employee was rude and said figure it out and the lock on my cabin was installed upside down and it was very hard to get the key in and turn the lock and I asked the front desk about it and they said they would fix it but the never did and blew it off and due to all of these things I decided to cancel my reservation for a trip in three weeks the person who i talked to said that the owner was going to decide if I was allowed to cancel my reservation or not and I was told there would be a 10$ fee for canceling and a day or two later they charged 108$ for canceling . I made a reservation over a holiday weekend. I attempted to call back five minutes later to cancel the reservation and they read me fine print it says that I lose my deposit fee. I was only five minutes late and I did not cause them to miss any reservations from other people. They are just greedy and they were unfriendly and don't trust them because they will take every one of your pennies if they have the opportunity. They are not a good quality company that cares About The customer service or retaining loyalty. they did try to offer to allow me to stay a different weekend even though I only go camping once a year and try to explain them, but that was what I was doing. read more

Owner Gary stated he's trained his staff to lie to customers regarding their refund policy. Unlike other KOA that process a refund while you speak with them, this KOA just tells you its taken care of and later keeps your money. they don't even care if you a disabled veteran like myself. read more

Well maintained playgrounds, hiking trail, stocked store, clean and reasonably priced laundry, and a place (an actual tub and sprayer!) to wash your dog! It's a Standard KOA Kampground. We had made reservations in advance here for our trip to Williamsburg, Yorktown, and Jamestown and the campground was a tad pricey for what you get. We soon figured out that our reserved site had a leaky water spigot which made our site like a marsh. The lady at check-in, Maria, was very nice and moved us to another site. Both sites were pretty level and the upkeep of the place was great. The day following us mentioning the spigot, it had been fixed. The bathhouses were by no means new, but they were very clean and well kept. If you are stopping by this area, I recommend this KOA to you. read more

First, the amenities, activity options and ease of access to area attractions were fantastic. The reason for a lower score comes simply from the RV spot we were assigned to. It was it was very uneven, narrower at the front than the back, had a tree right in the rear center of it and had no type of fire pit at all. The dirt path to get to the bath houses was full of ruts and large gravel, making it difficult to walk across. The small area we were in, at the back, almost seemed like an afterthought. We spent most days out sightseeing, so really just needed a place to sleep, which is why we didn't ask to be moved. We would stay here again, but would def ask for a better camp site. read more

The KOA campground was given a rating of 3 star. The area was fantastic, close enough to stores like Walmart, historical areas, Busch Gardens/Water Country, but far away (tucked away) into the woods. The cabin we chose was a Deluxe Cabin. Our cabin was cleaned and well maintained. They provided most of the necessities needed to live comfortably. The cabin had a futon bed, 2 bunks beds, dining table, microwave, sink, small refrigerator, bathtub/shower, bath sink, toilet, queen bed in a 2nd bedroom, 2 flat screen TV (one over dining room table and the 2nd in the master bedroom), (2) AC units (one in the living room and the 2nd in the master room), plenty of storage for clothing and cabinets for food/pots/pans. The cabin came with dishes, cups, pots and pan, a gas grill, picnic table, deck, fire pit outside, and dressers. We had linens provides, towels, and toiletries. Needless to say that cabin was decked out! I truly enjoy the amenities that came with the cabin, as this weekend we went through a flooded storm and we had lots to do inside. If it wasn't for the weather, we would have had a better time, but this is not on the campground; they cant control the weather. The staff were friendly and attentive and very customer service oriented. There were a few slip ups during our stay though. For example, the deluxe cabin we were in, can sleep 6 people but only had 2 sets of towels, 4 chairs instead of 6, the futon bed came with no linens (bunk beds and queen bed came with linens). Another thing that really stood out was that they advertise that they have a heated pool but could out that they do not heat the pool but only certain time of the year. The jumping pillow they had has been under repair due to a 10 feet long break in the fabric, so this wasn't available to us during this weekend (would have been a great thing to have operating due to the inclement weather). The game room wasn't all that it was hyped to be. Game room had a human-life-size chess board with pieces, air hockey table, a couple of pick and grab vending machine (stuffed animals etc), pool table, Foosball table and that's it. The air hockey table worked, the vending machines worked, but the pool table was not. There was a rubber ball that got stuck and it's condition wasn't up to par (pool sticks were missing their cues etc). The Foosball table was missing pieces like the small ball. The coin change machine was out of service so we couldn't do our laundry, we had no change. Alot of their advertised amenities like the game room, jumping pillow, heated pool were all misleading. All of it was either under repair, not working, malfunctioning, out dated etc. We were disappointed in this as we spent over $500 on a 3 days, 2 night stay. For the money, we spent (not counting what we spent in the gift shop), the little bit of items they had should have been working or in good condition and they weren't. We were highly disappointed in this. The cabin experience was great, walking the nature trail was fun, but the other amenities were not up to par. I gave this place a 3 and will not be returning. We wanted the weekend to end, so we did not pursue getting a discount for our next stay or getting a slight refund; the motivation wasn't there. It was more of a let down. Thank goodness we brought our own game system, board games, food etc. There wasn't much for the kids to do because of the lack of functioning amenities. I think KOA could benefit from adding a few new things like a putt putt course, working pool table (maybe have 2 tables), have more than 1 air hockey table, maybe a couple of pin ball machines, a bit more of an arcade feel and a working change machine. Oh and keep the pool heated all year round, it would have been perfect for this past weekend when it rained and we went through a storm that left us cold and wanting to jump in warm waters. Maybe we will reconsider coming back if they upgrade what they have or offer discounts to others things in the area. read more

I've heard many of the US KOA's are poorly managed, mainly because they are all independently owned. But this KOA, which is my first experience was amazing. How clean? Spotless, pristine! From the restrooms, showers and the cabins. Not one dust bunny under the beds. I will be coming back here. I think the other locations around the US need to use this as a model. The KOA is classic Americana, and we can't let it fall by the wayside with owners who can't afford to maintain their properties. Corporate needs to take note of this place. The host was incredibly gracious. We chatted with him by the pool, and he really seemed to care about this place. It showed. Fairly good as KOA's go. You probably only stay at a KOA if you a) Had kids b) Owned a gigantic winnebago c) Were deaf But, actually, the deluxe cabins were quite nice and many in our (large) party stayed there. We stayed in one of the basic cabins; basic, yes, but perfectly comfortable. We'll probably do a deluxe cabin next time :P Lots for kids to do, nice pool (paddling pool too--a.k.a.
