The park entrance is a few miles inland from I-64 and takes you directly to a visitor center where you can pick up a trail map, use the restroom, and buy something from their gift shop. There is a small discovery center in the visitor center with fish and smaller animals. We opted for the Fossil beach trail and really enjoyed the easy terrain to get to and from the beach. Once on the beach you have the opportunity to go shell hunting and can find the remains of fossils that have washed ashore. The park staff was friendly and super helpful! We plan on returning in the warmer months to try a new trail and bring a picnic lunch!

Parking is just beyond and plentiful. The park offers trails, fishing and boating as well as the separate dog park. Restrooms are located at the trail head by the water. They were extremely dated and no soap in the men's room. There is a water refilling station which is a bonus. I came to hike and there are options on length. There is a 2.9 mile trail, Lookout Tower. You can add two + which is did for a total hike of 5.75. The trail was overall easy with some elevation changes. The challenges were the tree roots. Some of path is nice along the water. Other parts are paved along the road.

It was definitely overwhelming having 3 kids running ALL around... it was hard to be able to keep eyes on them the entire time so thankful I was there with another mama and we all watched each other's. The kids had a blast darting in ALL directions. We will definitely be packing a cooler and a picnic blanket next time to be able to stay longer. There is a walking trail next to it, there is plenty of benches, umbrellas, shade, and a few tables. It was very well maintained.

It's located near a busy highway but it's fenced off. I love the huge boat that connects a lot of the little play areas. The best area in my opinion is the zip lines. I've seen some parks that have a small one that you hang on with the two bar handles but this one is legit. It has one for grown ups or bigger kids or the secured seated one for younger kids. Our daughter was on that for a long time. She loved it and we'll be coming back again. Not too many kids or people. Clean and there was a dog park nearby and I think some basketball courts. This park has everything your kids would need and enjoy.

There is not much parking right next to the park but there seems to be street parking up the hill. The surrounding area is not the nicest area but if you can get to it, I think it is worth it. One of the nice features is the wide, unobstructed view of the river, where you can watch boats and ships pass by. The park is often quiet, making it an ideal spot for reflection or reading. Benches and picnic tables are scattered throughout, offering seating options for those who want to enjoy the fresh air. A paved walking path is also great for a leisurely stroll. While the park doesn't have a playground or large recreational facilities, it's well-maintained and offers clean surroundings. A short walk brings you to a beautifully landscaped area with neatly trimmed grass and thoughtfully placed flowers. There is an aircraft carrier to one side and 2 large support ships to the other. My hub rode the 20 miles of mountain bike trails while I spent time walking the paths that wind through historical sites and open fields. While here, I stumbled upon the Williamsburg Botanical Garden. It features 800 species of native vegetation and entrance is free. Saw a wedding being set up; what a great site to have such a ceremony. The best surprise of all is the presence of one of the first Free Black Settlements in the US. There are 3 cabins, all furnished with items of the period (1803-1850), situated in a graceful clearing. The structures are easy to see inside and out, a trip back in time, for sure. A fellow Yelper writes that Freedom Park is one of the best places to visit if on a tight budget in the Williamsburg region. I heartily agree. There are no fees for anything, unlike other parks in the tri-city area (meaning Williamsburg/Jamestown/Yorktown). I found myself returning here for several days during the week that I was a tourist recently because this place is so enjoyable and tranquil.

We enjoy camping in our RV and discovered this park had camping sites. So normally if possible we will check out a park before we drag our big beast RV to a location. I found the camping sites real nice and fairly large. None of the site look difficult to back into. However, they do have several pull through sites. None of the sites seem to have any cover - so you will need to deal with the sun and maybe summertime heat. Just know that. Some sites do have E/W. The dump station appears clean and easy in & out. The bath house was very clean As for the rest of the park. Just wonderful biking/walking path. Not sure but there are a few miles of them and all look flat. As for the trails to the water, they are rocked and again I'm sure a mountain biker can easily handle them. Not 100% sure though if bikes are allowed on them - so check before you do. I even seen an older lady driving her motorized wheelchair on these paths and she didn't seem to have any difficulty. The restroom area and picnic pavilions looked great and were very clean. Of course this facility is newer, so I hope they stay looking as great as they do today. I expect we will be back here with the RV in the Fall or Spring. I say this again due to no real shade in the campground area and no swimming avail.

We spent a full day at Water Country USA and still didn't hit everything. We arrived close to after…read moreopening and grabbed chairs near the wave pool. We also grabbed a single large locker. Life jackets are located throughout the park. There are several family water slides: Big Daddy Falls, Aquazoid Amped, and Malibu Pipeline were all rides we as a family with 36" and 48" tall children could experience together. My oldest and I liked the cutback water coaster a lot! Rock 'n Roll island is home to the lazy river, a large standard pool and an obstacle course. There is also a kiddie slide in this area along with 3 body slides for 48"+. My youngest enjoyed the cow-a-bunga play area and the couple of slides there. High tide harbor was also a hit: a multi level play structure with multiple kiddie slides. Hubba hubba highway was also a crowd-pleaser, think non-lazy river. We spent a lot of time in the wave pool too. No tubes but grab a life jacket and let the waves take over. We also had lunch and my youngest ate the whole cheeseburger she ordered and gave it two thumbs up. The dirt cups were also a favorite that the kids enjoyed. Definitely a fun waterpark, recommend a weekday visit if possible.

Today, me and my partner were there and we were leaving because we had ridden everything and on our…read moreway out we needed WiFi to call our Uber, well, one of the security guards (the lady with the black hair at the metal detector) yelled at us because she thought we were going back into the park (we weren't) we were simply trying to get better signal connection. Then she told us "not to go past the sign" that was in between the empty kettle corn bar and the exit, so we didn't. We inched closer to the sign to get better connection but we couldn't get any. (Mind you we DID NOT cross the sign line) then the male security guard with a GREEN HEADBAND, yells at us, "You have been warned, if you go past the sign you will be trespassing and you will be arrested" when we had two seconds earlier stated the fact that we had just been trying to get WiFi. It's really disappointing to see this as a customer and someone who has worked at bush gardens before. After this btw, I was going to come back into the park as the lady had suggested to get the WiFi and when I did, they had purposely moved the metal detector line and I heard the lady say to the guy, "well if they don't wanna come through now, they can just cry about it" as well as I had to stand near the now obsolete metal detector (after they moved it) and I luckily got the WiFi signal. They purposely moved the no bag line to the bag line just because they didn't want me to go through and when I needed the connection and was trying to get the uber to get both of us home, they got on the radio and called the park sheriff as if I was doing something shady. (I'm black btw) I hope whatever is left of the park time you guys have left is better than this one we both experienced today. Pics of them down below
