Beautiful park! Well maintained. Amazing structures! We loved the pirate ship and the zip line. A must visit for families

Here is what you need to know: - There are clean restrooms and drinking fountains. - Separate fenced-in toddler area - Special needs accommodation: wide ramps, two special swings, and a big rocking platform that is wheelchair accessible. - A pretty long zip line is awesome, but best for kids 5+ - There is a slide that you can only go down by climbing a decent rock wall. My 2 year old couldn't do it on his own, but my 4-and-a-half year old enjoyed the challenge. - There's a covered gazebo and a few exposed picnic tables. - Structures encourage imaginative play: spyglasses, pretend cannons, old maps FOOD: There is a shopping center less than a mile away, so we grabbed snacks at Trader Joe's and kept on playing. We stayed there for HOURS, I tell you. Look at the photos and know that it is a really fun place. Very busy on weekends, but still fun.

Veterans Park aka Kidsburg aka Mid County Park is great for kids period. In the time of COVID the park is pretty crowded with only on a rare occasion kids wearing masks. Social Distance is not enforced but kids are generally aware of their space.

    Playground

After a day in Williamsburg the kids were still not tired, so we looked for a playground in the area. To the kids delighted we discovered Mid County Park. Tons of kids to play with and plenty to play on. They asked to "go back tomorrow".

The most awesome playground in Virginia!

This is an A+ playground. My children insisted upon taking a second trip to Williamsburg, Virginia because they wanted to spend more time at this playground. Playground has an enclosed tot lot for little kids. It has a pirate ship, a small climbing wall with a slide, and a humongous play structure. The theme of the park is pirates. The kids especially like the zip line. There are bathrooms, a soda machine, and lights that go off in the winter at 8 PM. My children said that this park with more fun then Busch Gardens. I wish I had saved the money and skipped Busch Gardens.

Great park with lots of equipment for all ages. There's plenty of shade, picnic tables vending machines and clean bathroom facilities. The parks main feature is a pirate ship that connects to several other pieces of equipment. There's a basketball court nearby and a large field for playing sports.

Little one needed to burn off some energy so we checked this park out. Great climbing structure, separate play areas for big kids and small ones. Clean and well maintained. Plenty of parking for parents and there were benches and tables to make it a picnic place.

An overview of the whole park. Lots of fun bridges and slides.

Echo all the great reviews. One of the very best parks we've been to. The park has almost everything you'd ever want in a park - great slides, climbing, activities for young and older kids, spinning games and imagination play (the ship is delightful). It also has shade and nice restroom facilities. The zip line is an amazing treat.

Coolest playground in Williamsburg! Areas for all ages, zip line is the highlight. We were visiting Williamsburg and my daughter saw this playground as we were driving to Jamestown. We had to go check it out. Made 2 trips there during our stay

Wow! What an amazing playground for children of all ages! Pirate ship, slides, swings! Clean park with clean rest rooms and tons to entertain!

    They seem to enjoy this!

Padded ground for big kid area. Mulch for toddler area. Wish it was reverse. Toddler area is fully fenced though so big plus.

Excellent park just avoid the rude parents. My kids love this park but you will come across some really obnoxious snooty people.

My hub rode the 20 miles of mountain bike trails while I spent time walking the paths that wind through historical sites and open fields. While here, I stumbled upon the Williamsburg Botanical Garden. It features 800 species of native vegetation and entrance is free. Saw a wedding being set up; what a great site to have such a ceremony. The best surprise of all is the presence of one of the first Free Black Settlements in the US. There are 3 cabins, all furnished with items of the period (1803-1850), situated in a graceful clearing. The structures are easy to see inside and out, a trip back in time, for sure. A fellow Yelper writes that Freedom Park is one of the best places to visit if on a tight budget in the Williamsburg region. I heartily agree. There are no fees for anything, unlike other parks in the tri-city area (meaning Williamsburg/Jamestown/Yorktown). I found myself returning here for several days during the week that I was a tourist recently because this place is so enjoyable and tranquil.

The water in the showers was hot and perfectly adjustable! Both the men's and women's sides have 3 stalls and 3 showers with a common changing area. The office closed at 5 every day, and the staff members there didn't seem enthused about answering my questions when I went in. The store is very sparsely stocked. We stayed in the glamping sites right along the river and loved our views. The bathrooms were clean and well kept. There were volleyball nets, a playground and kayaks available. There looks to be some sort of 'ship' for their imagination as well as several slides and merry go rounds and everything to keep the little ones busy. Going around this park, is a walking trail. It's not too long, its not too short. It's just right. You can leisurely stroll around the entire park, taking a break to watch the kiddies or...and this is the best part, watch the pooches. Among it's perfection, this park has three, VERY large dog parks. Two for the biggies (they need the room) and one GINORMOUS park for the Lil Napoleons (ever meet a small dog that didn't have a Napoleon complex?) This dog park is so big that after throwing the ball for 30 minutes, my very energetic poodle came up to me panting heavily & I swear I could hear "Uncle" as he dropped the ball & walked away. The grounds inside the dog parks are kept beautifully. There is a volunteer who faithfully cleans out the water bowls, picks up anything that parents left behind, supplies balls to all of the parks & for a bonus will even snuggle any pet needing a confidence boost. I am very hesitant in writing this review because if word spreads too far & fast, then everyone will want to come here & there will be a line. There are very friendly owners that come to this park, all different breeds. One day it will be all poodles, doodles, chichipoos, doxies...you just never know who you will meet!

There is so much to explore here and offers something for every level of stepper. Whether you're looking for an intense hike or just a leisurely stroll, this is a great spot to be. The park has multiple entrances and different access points which would make multiple visits here still feel fresh. The park is very hilly and has a lot of inclines so keep that in mind. Once you get down to the park you'll be greeted by the lake trail where you can walk in a loop around the stunning lake. You can also do catch and release fishing here which I saw multiple people doing. While the lake trail is paved, this park also has a variety of cobblestone and natural trails as well. The walks are pretty shaded and all have stunning views of either greenery or some water component. This is a great walking spot if you're wanting to really dive into nature and experience some stunning views. This is definitely a more mild intensity walk mainly because of the inclines, they also have stair entrances to get on the trail as well. There were quite a few people on the trail, consisting of families, groups and even solo walkers. Despite its almost secluded nature this park felt relatively safe with the amount of people present. You may want a trail buddy if veering into the natural trails but the paved lake loop was pretty open making it feel safe for solo walkers. Overall, with its variety of entrances, views, and the moderate challenge, this park is a great choice for regular walkers and nature lovers!
