Enjoyed a meet up with a few friends. It was my first time at Waller Mill which has been on my list. The park is now free to enter as of February. The dog park is just as you enter. Parking is just beyond and plentiful. The park offers trails, fishing and boating as well as the separate dog park. Restrooms are located at the trail head by the water. They were extremely dated and no soap in the men's room. There is a water refilling station which is a bonus. I came to hike and there are options on length. There is a 2.9 mile trail, Lookout Tower. You can add two + which is did for a total hike of 5.75. The trail was overall easy with some elevation changes. The challenges were the tree roots. Some of path is nice along the water. Other parts are paved along the road. read more

A bunch of years back Walmart super store had Employees picnic type of food bunch at the park. I missed when management of Williamsburg super store did this for the employee's. The wooden area is very beautiful and the day was sunny to partly cloudy with a light wind blowing. read more

First time coming here and WOW was it beautiful!! I passed it heading to the outlets and so glad I took note to make a visit. There was plenty of parking at $2/day. Lots of trails, dog friendly and equipment to rent I.e kayaks and pedal boats. I rented the pedal boat for a few hours at $8/hr. The only thing I would note is that staff was limited. We were initially told someone would be able to assist us with getting on the pedal boat and pulling out since we've never done it before, but no one was around. We went back to the front desk and were told we were good to go to pull out on our own. It was super easy to figure out though and we had a blast! The waters were calm and the views were gorgeous. First time out here and wow... what a great facility! Unfortunately, because of staffing, they are closed Tuesday's and Thursday's. However, we made it work and came on Wednesday. We were here with our doggo and wow she loved the small trail we went on. Between wanting to chase squirrels and attacking frogs, she was completely spent. I liked the array of options they had available for renting. I know that we'll most likely come back to rent a kayak to go up and down the river. Its been a long time since I've gone but we look forward to the event. If you come here, I'd highly suggest some good shoes. The trails have more roots versus places like First Landing or Noland Trail. What a wonderful place to find solitude and get some fresh air! Nothing like a good walk in nature to ease the burdens and stress of the daily grind! This park delivers on beauty, calm, and adventure!! We did a 2.7 mile circuit trail and happened upon another trail, which led to this hidden gem of a spot, Lookout Tower that boasts a spectacular view of Waller Mill Pond!! It's just off the trail that parallels the road to Williamsburg. There's plenty of picnic tables and hidden quiet spots to just rest and relax, soak in the peace and tranquillity of this beautiful park!!! I LOVED Waller Mill! Came by last week for my first visit with a new friend and thought it was absolutely beautiful! Plenty of parking - $2 to park - and they had tons of kayaks, canoes, and paddle boats for rent. We went with a paddle boat and went out on the water - the people up front were friendly enough and helped us quickly (there was no one else around as it was a Thursday afternoon around 6pm) and we spent a pleasant two hours rowing around on the beautiful water. Apparently the water here is where the city gets their drinking water so you aren't allowed to swim in it though you can boat in there and I saw some folks fishing. There are trails and other cool things to do I hope to see when the weather is a bit cooler. I will most def. be back! read more

The staff here are super friendly which we appreciated. It was pretty empty when we arrived which made our kayak ride even more relaxing. Was our second time kayaking which was a bit more on the scary side but the 20 minutes out in the water was very nice and serene. There are hiking trails around as well as a fishing pier. Due to Covid, only allowing 6 people at the pier at a time. Beware for the huge spiders in the trails! read more

This park is a photographers paradise! The area provides a ton of natural beauty year round, especially during fall and late spring. The sunsets are amazing from the bridge, docks, and shore. It is always fun to take a paddle boat out on the water and explore. One unexpected treasure is a lost building submerge under water. It was a fun discovery and it made for a great picture. The walking trails are always a mini adventure and are great for exercise. Also, it is a wonderful place to fish. The fishing pier is well maintained and sturdy. My husband has caught quite a few fish such as panfish, perch, and even a big mouth bass. On most days, the pier is not too crowded and a peaceful spot to relax. I usually read a book or take pictures. We always have a great time when we visit this park! read more

I really like renting kayaks and walking around the lake! I mostly frequent the dog park with my small dogs. I take them to the Small Dog section, but all the dog owners have been very vigilant, responsibly and friendly. I also love that all the dogs are all vaccinated. The only negative thing about it, which can't really be helped, is that it's not exactly a field where the dogs can run free and long distance. It's a little disappointing considering that I pay $37 annually to use it. It's always a little muddy as there is no grass, but I also spend some of time trying not to trip on tree roots. However, I will say that the Bigger Dog section is much more open than the Small Dog area. Also the staff is always super helpful and friendly! read more

Waller Mill Dog Park is not a handicap friendly place. If anybody has ever been there, you may have noticed the handicapped parking spaces are all over by the office, which is very far away from the dog park. When I asked why there was not a handicapped parking space by the dog park entrance, I was told the dog park was considered an "amenity," and handicapped persons did not need access to this amenity. They only needed access to the office and the employees. Does this mean handicapped persons are not supposed to own dogs or use a dog park? I cannot give a good rating to a place with so little regard for persons with disabilities. read more

Great park with 3 different hiking trails and a large dog park. The moderate length trail was nice with a lot of elevation changes and natural pathways. Everything was well maintained and clean. The way the sunlight comes through the trees makes some really cool lighting effects on the trail. Staff was very friendly and helpful. read more

really beautiful spot! Renting kayaks is cheap & great place for a date or going with friends. I've gone paddle boarding once there and it was equally fun. Lots of places to explore. Very peaceful. There's a place you can go with an abandoned building, park your boat & climb around. It's not very exciting or safe - be careful for broken glass but it's a nice spot to just hangout at and if you bring food, chill and eat. read more

Waller Mill's dog park is nicely maintained and has plenty of room for dogs to roam. There are large trees providing plenty of shade, and benches scattered throughout for owners to sit. There's a water station, so no need to bring your own. The folks working at the park's main office were very friendly and informative...Be sure to check in with them before entering the dog park. It's $2 for a day pass, and that counts as the general admission fee for your vehicle & occupants. They suggested keeping our day pass in plain view because some of the park regulars are sticklers for making sure people have paid. If you want a change of scenery from the dog park, a lot of people also take their leashed dogs on the trails around Waller Mill park proper. There's no additional cost (the dog park daily pass covers the rest of the park). The trails are well marked, but I highly recommend bug spray and longs pants tucked into boots/socks. I took my dog for a walk along one and came out with countless chiggers and an adult tick on my legs...my bites are still healing. Otherwise, stick to the dog park! I didn't have bug issues there. read more

I decided to go on a small hike on a Sunday afternoon and wanted to try this place out since I usually pass through on my way to the outlets. We arrived around 1100am and saw that t was already filling up with families, theres lots of parking for cars, trailers and bikes so thats not an issue. We had to pay $2 bucks for our car, which isn't much but still not sure why its a cute park and all but eh...I rather walk in for free or bike there. I like that theres a decent sized doggie park which I'll note for my next trip. They have a couple amenities like boat rentals, playgrounds, and sheltered picnic areas. They trail was kinda a let down though and I was a bit disappointed since thats why I went. The trail is not well maintenanced and sadly I fell like Newport News park would have been a better option. There were no root markings so I wouldn't recommend running on the main trail. Actually the whole trail is littered with roots so its made more for hiking and a nature stroll rather than a good run. The trail is small and we were able to finish quickly. The mile markers were a little confusing to me and looked kinda cheap. Theres also bike trails and perhaps I check that out on a later date. I didn't really interact with the folks working there so I can't comment on the people but it seemed like they were doing a good job. Theres also lots of cute little toads and ducks along the trail. Many areas of the trail had cobwebs X.x. Theres blue flies everywhere too. Overall, I think it a nice spot for families and nature enthusiast rather then a place for a work out. They host educational programs as well. I won't be in a rush to visit but it isn't a terrible place either. I rather go to NN park though, its bigger and surprisingly well kept. read more

Honestly, this place was the highlight of our vacation to Williamsburg. Now don't get me wrong, my kids loved seeing the historic sights and all but they are really fun-loving, get in the dirt kind of kids. So, after a couple days of seeing old things that look new and new things made to look old, this park was just what they needed. Playground equipment was nice, as was the stroll along the path. We rented canoes and took an hour out on the lake (only $4/hr per canoe). The area is very shady so it's a welcomed retreat on hot, sunny days. Such a great spot. Look for it if you need a quick getaway from your getaway. read more

Paying $2 to park and then to pay for disc golf each time is unsat. Not once do I see the workers cleaning fairways or clearing trees but only the local club. The money I pay for DG should go to the club who puts hours in to the work on the course. read more

We are on our honeymoon from California. This is a nice quiet place to go for a boat trip. We rented a boat with a motor and oars for 2 hours and it cost us $28. This is really cheap compared to California. All in all we had a great boating excursion. Really liked this park read more

It is kept up however it's 2 dollars for the dog park and 2 dollars to get in so you will be paying 4 dollars. I like that there is a small and a small/big dog park. I like all the bags and water fountain with bowls. Honestly; I loved the park and was glad my small dog could play in peace by herself because she would of been overwhelmed by all the big dogs. Not great but the only one in Williamsburg as far as I can tell. It cost $27 a year which isn't bad, but it's all dirt and some dirty wood chips. My dog will need a bath every time he comes back from here. I'm from San Diego and have been spoiled with large green dog parks. This one is decent size but could use some grass for $27 a year plus all the taxes paid in Williamsburg. read more

Sunday was a beautiful day here in Williamsburg VA! the wife & I decided we would like to spend sometime walking - my wife looked up some walking trails & came upon this one! what a GREAT find! has lots to offer but we took advantage of the trails - we choose a 2 mile walk around the beautiful lake, but in the woods! this trail was a beautiful walk & there are 2 others we would love to walk given the time! We both recommend this as a place to go & enjoy many times over! I know we will! read more

This place has(had??) so much potential. There is a 2 mile asphalt walking trail and three wooded walking trails. Try to jog on these if you dare. They are VERY rooted. Almost to the point that just walking on them you have to take your time so you don't trip. There is a stocked lake but for what ever reason no shore fishing except from a tiny pier that no large fish even visit. You can bring your own boat or water craft but they do not allow combustible engines. You can rent canoes, kayaks, paddle boats and an over priced very slow electric john boat. There are the usual rent-able covered BBQ shelters and tables, volleyball nets, playground and horse shoes. There is also a dog park but don't think about letting your pooch swim in the lake because apparently they believe it will pollute the entire 286 acres or something. There USED to be a EVMA built mountain bike trail here but the city closed it down for what ever reason years ago. The worst of all is that last year they started charging $2.00 to enter the park. This is Williamsburgs only full fledged park so I guess they are trying. Its just lucky for us that surrounding York and James County have very excellent parks not far from here. I only go here because its so close to my house. read more

This is a very cute city park out in Williamsburg with a dog park, canoes, kayaks, paddleboats, and a bunch of hiking trails. Note: there is an entry fee of $2 but they take cash and cards. We came here over the wknd for the dog park, which has a dedicated enclosed area for small dogs set apart from the big dogs. Most dog parks don't do this so I was very pleased to have this feature, as both my dogs are only 10 lbs each and we don't feel comfortable putting them with the other big dogs. Unfortunately on this Sunday afternoon, there were no other small dogs on the small dog side; everyone was over on the big side. Eventually a few small dogs came in and one of the owners told me that the small dog side gets packed on weekday evenings before the park closes (4pm on) so that's a plus. That aside, it was a huge dog run, that included doggy bags and a water system in the middle of the space so I found this to be one of the nicer dog parks in Hampton Roads with friendly dogs and dog owners. Overall, I will gladly return here if we're ever in the area again. read more

Waller mill was a great place to have a large family picnic. The space was clean and very open. There are good trails and disc golf was a fun option. The only issues were the disc golf course was not marked well and parking was confusing at first. There needs to be better signs. Also beware that the bathrooms (port a potties) are far walk from the pavillions. read more

We went to check out the disc golf course this evening. The holes are a little confusing; there are two tees AND two baskets for most holes - in theory - but almost all the holes had the second basket taken out. That is fine, but there should be a sign at the beginning of the course just to give you a head's up on the current status. There are several holes near the water and our disc went in a couple times. The holes are almost exclusively wooded. The first half of the course was much hill-ier than anticipated - got a decent little workout in just from that! BEWARE: there's about a bazillion fire ants from holes 8-11. We had to stop playing and just get through them after we kept getting bitten. We used to take our dog with us when we played but after the ants, were glad we didn't have him with us! Overall, this was not our favorite course in the area, but I think k they are still working on it. I would give the course 2 or 3 stars and the rest of the park 5. The dog park is fantastic! read more
