This park is so lovely and beautiful in the fall, my boyfriend and I walked 2 miles throughout it yesterday and it wasn't busy, everyone was happy and kind who approached us, and we saw deer. Soooo excited to go back

What a beautiful gem!!!!! My friend and I had literally just finished talking about where the hell we were going to run at in the am. We drive past this park on our way to dinner the night before. In that moment we decide this is it! This place is beautiful. There was so much charm in this park I definitely could have put on a backpack and walked around all day if I would've had the time. In fact I wish my friend and I had gotten up earlier so we could've ran/walked around this place for a little bit longer. However we had plans that day and didn't have all morning to be out gallivanting. This place has a small lake/pond. Plenty of different trails paved and some not. it seemed very safe to me. I would definitely recommend this place to runners and walkers.

Running in forest hill park is challenging. There are a lot of very steep hills. But the cobblestone walls around the paved trail make it an enjoyable experience. Great for a quick 1.5-mile sprint. It takes some exploration. The trail meets the road and parking lot in several places, so be prepared to either turn around or go forward and look for another entrance inside until you get the layout. There's a hidden staircase at the back of the park that leads to the trail. It comes across a nice pond where people fish. There's biking trails, tennis and pickleball courts.

Enchanted Forest? Maybe not quite, but when I'm wandering along the trails at Forest Hill Park I certainly feel as though I could be anywhere my mind wants to take me. I don't go to Forest Hill for the playground or the tennis courts (although I'm sure these provide hours of fun for other park-goers), I go to explore the wooded areas, paths, and streams. I'm not much of a wildlife enthusiast and I couldn't tell you what this plant or that bird is, but I do enjoy searching for things that I don't see in the Museum District. And I love to bring my camera to document my visits. Landscape photos are some of my favorites, and what better place to snap shots than along the trails of RVA's awesome parks? I never go with a plan and I always let the park itself guide me. Sometimes wandering aimlessly is the best medicine to offset a constantly moving lifestyle. Next time you're looking for a place to become one with nature and enjoy the natural beauty of Richmond, head to Forest Hill Park and walk along the trails... dip your foot in a stream, even. A little fresh air always does a body good.

Another great park South of the James- Forest Hill Park. I have been coming here since I was in diapers. This great park was once located close to where my grandparents live. And, even though it has changed quite a bit since I first started coming, it's true roots still remain. I really do love taking walks on the trails and getting to see a park that I do not often get to visit. For those of you not from RVA, I can tell you that during the snow days when kids have off, they will venture to this park for some killer sledding hills. It does boasts some of the best hills in Richmond- next to Maymont Park. For those bike riders, I can boldly say these trails are a riot but not for the new mountain biker out there. The bike trails are well maintained and you can always find someone else riding the trails on the weekends. Have you seen the lake yet...or the mini waterfall hidden in the park? It is not too far from the playgrounds - if you like a bit of a walk to get the blood flow goin'! This is a great park hidden in the city that many do not often visit. For those who have relatives in town that like to bike or just want a beautiful walk, look no further than Forest Hill Park!

This is now my second visit to this park...It's beautiful! There are trails, bike paths, tennis court's, fields and a playground. There are so many secrets to this park. Get up. Get active. Explore!

Beautiful park with so many fun things to see. Has a playground for kids, paved and dirt trails, a lake, a lot of little falls with benches to read or rest, even tunnels to go through. A great spot for an outdoor adventure

Nice area to run in,or walk your dog..there's a park for the kids up top and a lake, running trail and running area an stairs down the hill..on the weekend it's a farmers market up top in the parking lot..I come here almost every day to run,it's kinda boring & repetitive to me now, but it's still a nice place..oh yeah it's a tennis court up top too

A great park for the kids to run around or even better yet they have miles and miles if very difficult terrain to run or mountain bike.

This is one of my client's dogs. His name is Bentley and he loves going to Forest Hill Park on outdoor adventures.

Forest Hill is my neighborhood park and it absolutely rocks! I take my dog on trail walks there several times a week. The creek is gorgeous with enormous flat rocks that are accessible from the trail. Climb down and sit a spell. It's magic! We see mountain bikers often and lots of families enjoying this amazing green space. There's also a great farmers' market on Saturday mornings.

We arrived around 5:30pm and spent until about 7pm exploring all the walking paths. There is something here for everyone. There is a huge playground for little ones, there are paths for walkers/runners/dog walkers, and there were even a bunch of people fishing in the lakes. I love how child-friendly this park is. It felt like most of the bridges, benches, and other fun structures were made by girl or boy scouts. There is a huge parking lot so it's easy to drive to this spot. They also have very clean restrooms. We didn't go in to the nature center, but that was pretty too. I liked that this park had a lot to explore. The water was low enough at one section for us to go to a little island in the middle of one lake. While not all the trees have their leaves yet, I image this is even prettier when everything is in bloom. It was a very serene and lovely place to explore.

This place has plenty of parking, lots of playground equipment, and (as the name suggests) three small lakes to walk around. It's worth noting that the main lake (closes to the park entrance) is where fishing is permitted and has the newest/nicest path as well. The middle lake is enjoyable though is a bit rougher. The far lake was damaged in storms in the past so some of it is pretty rough but still enjoyable to explore. I make sure to hit all three lakes every visit, though if you want a nice clean experience, stick to the main lake. The nature center is nice but fair warning: it's pretty small and won't take more than 10-15 minutes to enjoy in its entirety. Still, the staff member there tends to be nice and there are a few small animals in the little displays there. If you want a fun place to walk (especially if you have kids who like playground equipment), this is a great spot to do it. Overall: 5.0 stars ---- Pros: - Beautiful walking spot. - Pleasant staff. - Lots of free parking. - Fun (if small) nature center. - Plenty of playground equipment for kids. Cons: - It would be great if they fully re-built the third lake, though I suppose the rugged nature of it is part of the charm.

My best friend and I went to Pocahontas State Park a few weekends ago to do the Beaver Lake trail. This park is pretty big and they offer a variety of trails to explore. I love that you are able to walk, fish, bike, and even camp here. I just learned that if you are an REI member, you can take your receipt and use it as a payment to enter this park! It's usually $7 to enter with a car, but it was nice to be able to enter with a REI receipt. I've come twice this year and while the trees are not green yet, it's still a lovely park to explore. It's very family-friendly. There is a playground in the space. They also seem to have pools here. You can use All Trails to find a trail you want or ask the park ranger for recs on the map. They also have an information center and museum. If you live in the RVA area, I recommend checking out this park at least once.
