Libby hill park is absolutely one of the best parks I go to! It's usually pretty full on a nice day but definitely not as bad as Monroe. My friends and I love having picnics and putting our hammocks up here There are also picnic tables so you can enjoy your lunches or morning breakfast here too! The neighborhood around it is pretty nice too! There is always easy parking and people are nice! If you are looking for a view it's a nice place!

Very close by to Cobra Burger! My husband and I decided to take our kids for a walk here after we went to go pick up our lunch order. It was a weekend (and it may have been a bit colder) and there was plenty of parking on the street. I do lover the older homes in Churchill- beautiful buildings and friendly peeps. Easy to get to and plenty of parking spots. There are big areas where you can let your little one run around but still want to keep a close eye on them if they like to run onto/towards the street.

A good place to catch a break from life or to take a breather and gather your thoughts No matter the weather it always pretty and I love to people watch here or eat lunch.

My favorite park in Richmond. This place is the perfect spot for a picnic. It's also great for outdoor yoga, a photoshoot, reading a book, catching up with friends.....basically anything you can do outside is so much better when you do it here. It has the view that named our city and I think that's so special. Maybe that's a part of why I like it so much, or maybe it's because I think this park captures Richmond so well. Our city does industrial outdoors very well. Libby Hill showcases this with the city views, river views, the old Lucky Strike building, and green space. There is plenty of street parking. It's also very close to some awesome local businesses. I highly recommend takeout picnics here. There are a few picnic benches and stairs that can take you back down to Shockoe Bottom. This is my #1 park in Church Hill and in the city. It's a fabulous place for people watching and even better for sunset watching. I always take visiting friends to this spot.

We were in Richmond for the day and to view the sunset we visited the Libby Hill Park. The parking for the libby hill park is the roadside parallel parking. The park was beautiful with lots of space to chill and enjoy the beauty of Richmond. We saw the sunset from Libby Hill Park with beautiful Richmond skyline and sunset. Amazing place to get beautiful pictures.

Seeing the YELP photos, I had to check this park out. Quite a site to behold with the views of the fountain, homes, and landscape that is Richmond. Also saw people doing photo shoots, reading, sharing inhibitions, and setting up their drones. Not to mention it's also a great starting point for walking towards the downtown area. Don't be alarmed making the climb; while it looks steep, I can assure you that you won't regret it. The view from the top is the best reward one can have; aside from ice cream or something.

Beautiful park with beautiful views. Street parking only. Has a pet station with bags and is great for taking your four-legged friend for some exercise. Hit it up at sunset for the real magic.

This is a beautiful park very close to several restaurants in downtown Richmond right now the Edgar Allan Poe bar And it's definitely worth a day trip it has hills and flat land to walk or jog and the view is amazing you can see the water and the city from up here to relax there are benches nearby and there is ample parking that is easy to attain We walked through here while the waiting for our table to open up at the restaurant I love hell if you take a turn you find steps and graffiti on a street next to houses you come back to the park that's very neat to see the different landscapes

The view of Richmond from the Hollywood Cemetery is pretty good but I think the view from here is better. Though it's possible that the endorphins from climbing the hill are making it more special. This is one of the three original parks in Richmond's park system. Allegedly, the view from here is said to closely resemble the view of Richmond on the Thames in England that it gave the city of Richmond its name. There is a lovely ornamental fountain, a number of benches to sit and enjoy the view and a monument for Confederate soldiers and sailors. [Review 11774 overall, 1556 of 2019.]

I adore watching the sunset from Libby Hill park. Doesn't matter the time of year. You really get so much of what makes Richmond such a sweet place to live on a busy night in the late summer with people walking about, dogs playing, friends and couples eating on picnic blankets, and most of the city right before you. This is a can't miss date night. During December the Vespers candlelight walk ends here and it's a terrific way to start the holidays.

This overlook offers as much of a quintessential view of Richmond as you could hope to get. Climbing the hill on foot looks daunting, but one can also drive and park in the residential neighborhood at the top, and there are several restaurants within walking distance as well. A pillar and some documentation commemorate the history of the area. There aren't any facilities other than a few benches, but if you're looking to sit outside and eat or watch the sunset, this is the place to be.

This is a prime spot to visit for pretty photos of Richmond. It's located in the Church Hill neighborhood -- a quaint, historic district to the east of downtown -- and is ideal for photographers of all levels. I walked around with my old iPhone snapping away while a drone buzzed overhead. The park itself is small but tranquil. Lots of dogs were being walked (ugh, love, want them all), and the paths were clean. You can look out over the James River or set your sights on quintessential RVA shots of the business district. Despite the chill and cloudy overcast, I loved my recent visit. I took a ton of photos of the leaves changing colors and then walked around the neighboring streets a bit before ending up at Proper Pie Co. and the Historic St. John's Church of Patrick Henry fame. I'd say this is an excellent park for first timers to Richmond to add to their must-visit lists.

This is probably one of the most beautiful city views of Richmond you're going to get. It's said that this is where the founder of Richmond decided to give Richmond its name. There is a plaque and everything. From this view - you see the old cigarette factory, Lucky Strike, the James River, a couple of bridges and of course Confederate soldier statue that could stand to be removed. They placed the statue here due to the former/fallen Confederate navy yard is also in this view. The houses in the area are lovely. They date back as early as the 1850s, but the oldest is actually from 1839. The ones that caught my attention were the Victorian era homes. I am in love with those and they're very picturesque. Libby Hill is worth wandering. I don't know how this is night, but I can see this being a romantic place to roam during the sunset or sunrise. Possibly even a good spot to propose? Likely has already been done. If you want a view in Richmond, this is probably as good as it gets!

There is so much to explore here and offers something for every level of stepper. Whether you're looking for an intense hike or just a leisurely stroll, this is a great spot to be. The park has multiple entrances and different access points which would make multiple visits here still feel fresh. The park is very hilly and has a lot of inclines so keep that in mind. Once you get down to the park you'll be greeted by the lake trail where you can walk in a loop around the stunning lake. You can also do catch and release fishing here which I saw multiple people doing. While the lake trail is paved, this park also has a variety of cobblestone and natural trails as well. The walks are pretty shaded and all have stunning views of either greenery or some water component. This is a great walking spot if you're wanting to really dive into nature and experience some stunning views. This is definitely a more mild intensity walk mainly because of the inclines, they also have stair entrances to get on the trail as well. There were quite a few people on the trail, consisting of families, groups and even solo walkers. Despite its almost secluded nature this park felt relatively safe with the amount of people present. You may want a trail buddy if veering into the natural trails but the paved lake loop was pretty open making it feel safe for solo walkers. Overall, with its variety of entrances, views, and the moderate challenge, this park is a great choice for regular walkers and nature lovers!

We arrived around 5:30pm and spent until about 7pm exploring all the walking paths. There is something here for everyone. There is a huge playground for little ones, there are paths for walkers/runners/dog walkers, and there were even a bunch of people fishing in the lakes. I love how child-friendly this park is. It felt like most of the bridges, benches, and other fun structures were made by girl or boy scouts. There is a huge parking lot so it's easy to drive to this spot. They also have very clean restrooms. We didn't go in to the nature center, but that was pretty too. I liked that this park had a lot to explore. The water was low enough at one section for us to go to a little island in the middle of one lake. While not all the trees have their leaves yet, I image this is even prettier when everything is in bloom. It was a very serene and lovely place to explore.

This place has plenty of parking, lots of playground equipment, and (as the name suggests) three small lakes to walk around. It's worth noting that the main lake (closes to the park entrance) is where fishing is permitted and has the newest/nicest path as well. The middle lake is enjoyable though is a bit rougher. The far lake was damaged in storms in the past so some of it is pretty rough but still enjoyable to explore. I make sure to hit all three lakes every visit, though if you want a nice clean experience, stick to the main lake. The nature center is nice but fair warning: it's pretty small and won't take more than 10-15 minutes to enjoy in its entirety. Still, the staff member there tends to be nice and there are a few small animals in the little displays there. If you want a fun place to walk (especially if you have kids who like playground equipment), this is a great spot to do it. Overall: 5.0 stars ---- Pros: - Beautiful walking spot. - Pleasant staff. - Lots of free parking. - Fun (if small) nature center. - Plenty of playground equipment for kids. Cons: - It would be great if they fully re-built the third lake, though I suppose the rugged nature of it is part of the charm.
