I give two stars but would have preferred one star, the second star is for the fact that I did get a refund for the wig I returned. I purchased a wig online and made an error on my selection so tried to get in touch the same day to correct my error to get the wig I wanted. There was no way, no mechanism for me to cancel or change my order, so a few days later they proceeded to ship my order regardless of the change I requested. Purchasing on the internet is far from perfect, however there needs to be a mechanized to cancel or change withing 24 hours. It is ever so easy to click on a button and the sale proceeds flawlessly, but it does not provide any opportunity to make a correction. Amazon has no problem cancelling an order if the cancellation is before an item is shipped. Certainly cancelling the same day as the order is placed is never a problem. Being unable to stop the order, I returned the wig and paid $30 in shipping both ways and I have nothing to show for it. If I were to order the wig I wanted it would cost me another $20 as this company overcharges for shipping. Bottom line another wig would cost me $50 on top of the cost for the wig. I just had a hair transplant a week ago. Super self conscious walking around the outside world. Erica and Leanne were both extremely helpful finding the right hair piece to help conceal the transplant. The owner of the store, Erika, was the most amazing and helpful person one could hope to meet and she took her time in selecting the right wig - which was the perfect fit, and, as a result I will be going back for more wigs. I decided to post an update after my first review to clarify something about the prices of the wigs here, what I was told is that the majority of what was sold are synthetic wigs. The prices therefore are outrageous. Go onto Amazon.com type in lace wig and see if you can find a wig over $50.00 of the same or better quality. Recently my aunt was in need of a wig and when I spoke with my friend she immediately mentioned that they have beautiful wigs where she gets her clip in extensions. The team was extremely helpful and supportive from the time I called to make the appointment. During the appointment Erica talked through all the differences between human and synthetic hair wigs to help my aunt make the best choice for her. They are experts of all their products and colors. When we went to the store for the fitting the hospitality and high level of customer service continued. Erica and The Wig Outlet are fabulous! I've lost the majority of my hair because of chemo and met Erica through a co-worker. Erica worked hard to give me several options for wigs that would match the hair that I had. They were all very good options and I had a difficult time deciding! Once we came to a decision, Erica helped to cut and shape the wig to the style and length that I had before I started chemo. I've been wearing it for a month and am very happy with it! I am going though hair loss from a surgery and visited the wig outlet from a quick search online while driving around. The owner let me come in right away without an appointment to meet me and discuss my options. She was caring, thoughtful and very professional. I had to go 3 times but I'm glad I did, she wanted to match my existing color and style so I would be extremely pleased and I was. I made an appointment to have a wig I bought online customized. I wanted to learn how to put the wig on and have the lace cut so that the hairline would look as natural as possible. I brought one of my close friends with me for support. The stylist took the wig and cut the lace however she did so with the wig not even on me. She cut a straight line across and therefore the wig was completely noticeable and I was not able to wear it out. My friend who wears wigs often was trying to help the stylist cut the front lace more jagged to allow a more natural look however the stylist told me to go to an wig maker to have this done. My friend kept giving suggestions about how she applies her wigs and what techniques work best though experience. The stylist made it a point to tell my friend that her texture hair was different than mine and that her way was correct. I was so frustrated with all the back and forth and most importantly the horrible look of the wig and lace that I didn't say too much. This is a shame to be charged 21 bucks for a friction headband that sells for 6 and another 25 bucks to cut the lace and for the tutorial on bow to apply the wig. Hence the wig is not wearable since the lace front was not cut correctly. I need to go to another place next week to have them fix what the wig outlet ruined and failed to do..overpriced snd inexperienced.. read more

That there are a few negative reviews is sad but not surprising in a world where people have come to expect being carried from their car into a place of business. I have gone three time to The Wig Outlet, both for purchases and service, and could not be more pleased. First, anyone who compares these wigs with those on-line ala eBay and such deserves to wear that garbage. And while the term "outlet" has changed meanings in the last 2decades, no, this is not Woodbury Commons, Einstein. I have purchased better wigs (in the hundreds of dollars) at several stores before this one and I find their prices perfectly in line and reasonable. Part of buying a wig is style- does it work for you, is it going to continue working for you once you leave the store? These gals (Erica, Terry, and Lucinda) are down to earth honest service-oriented people who want to make the customer happy. I have been thrilled with the service and selection and plan to not only continue shopping there, but to clue my girl friends as well. It is admittedly small, but I prefer a degree of intimacy and privacy when looking for something so personal. I strongly recommend them. read more

A few days ago, I went in to have a human hair wig that I had bought online styled and, I DID NOT received great service, at all. The younger woman seating at the front desk was very BLUNT and asked me, as soon as I came in, what did I NEED. Not a hello or a how are you. Their prices do seem to be outrageous, for what they sell. I can imagine that the human hair wig that I had bought online, would have cost MORE DOLLARS in that store. What bother me the most or found odd, is that they do NOT ask you to put on the wig to see how it looks on you BEFORE they tried to style it??? Isn't a stylist SUPPOSED to see how the wig looks on you and work with you to see how they can style the wig to suit your face and frame??? Do yourself a favor and, buy your wigs ONLINE for a lot less and then, look for a stylist that would be willing to work with you to make it(wig) your OWN. I WON'T go back. read more

This is the best possible place to purchase a wig. Although I was skeptical about the name of this store, there is nothing cheap about the look of the wigs. They are all very high quality - yet the prices are incredibly reasonable. The owner, Erika, spent a lot of time showing me different options and making very informed suggestions. At one point, I wanted to purchase a more expensive wig in addition to the one I had already purchased, but Erika talked me out of it because she did not think it would suit me. I've had the wig for more than a year and have gotten numerous compliments on my fabulous hairstyle. Even members of my own family had no idea I was wearing a wig! I went in a few weeks with a loved one who is going thru chemo. When I made the appt, I told the woman who answered the phone this was the first experience shopping for wigs, we didn't know anything, she said no problem, come in and I'll explain everything. When we arrived, the same woman greeted us, she wasn't the owner, Erica, whom everyone says is great. Erica was there, it's a tiny store so she heard and saw everything and should've stepped in. She didn't. This woman was abrasive and flat out rude. She told us to look around, then say back down. When we asked why there was an almost $150 price difference between 2 site that looked exactly the same, she actually rolled her eyes, then spoke to us as if we were mentally challenged toddlers. My loved one tried on a few wigs, but apparently this woman decided just asking why there was a price difference meant we couldn't afford to be there and we were wasting her time. She refused to even take a few off the shelf, saying, "Those cost more than you obviously want to spend.". We were there for 20 minutes, tops, and every comment from this woman was negative. The other customer in the store was more helpful. Which is another negative. There's no privacy, the area with salon chairs is open, so expect to have everyone in the shop watching you. Was shown color swatches, different styles, catalogs if I wanted something different that wasn't on display. It is a small shop but has many samples. My order came in quickly. i came in with a gal friend who wanted to check out the wigs and i was a bit curious cause she has a beautiful flowing of the real stuff so i assume it's for a disguise to check if her man is cheating on her or some weird fetish . on central ave in hartsdale is where you will find the wig out. damn i notice many different type of wigs before i ran out cause i started to giggle and my gal pal told me to wait outside. you can make an appointment or just walk in , some ladies are here due to thinning hair , some want a new look and some sadly is due to chemo which really sucks . i do notice that the ladies who work here are professional and treat the customers with care and respect .they also sell beauty supplies and hair accessories and cosmetics as well. i did learn in my short visit is that many white ladies wear wigs and it's not only the sistas . whatever the reason if it makes you happy and you dont mind spending the money as i notice some of the wigs range in price from cheap to expensive then go for it. read more
