Listen it has honestly gone downhill for a while pricing was only thing kinda on their side. Plus for a business to be opened the short amount of time that they are is honestly a joke. They have maybe 4-5 people there never at same time and have wrong hours posted online, and in person on booklet. It is almost sad to think they will probably be closed soon considering how little staff and hours they have to even be getting customers. What made today all the more special was I had a flight to catch immediately following my appointment and I was worried I might be late so Paulo worked super fast and had his assistant work together with him and not only did he finish on time, he finished early! I visited the salon for the first time and got my hair done with Giana. I am beyond thrilled! I came in after a bad experience elsewhere and was nervous that I wouldn't be able to get the look I wanted (I'm very picky). Giana was beyond sweet-- she listened to all my concerns and took the time to make everything perfect. I found this place via a Groupon. So I wasn't expecting all that much because it says the groupon is for limited stylist so to me, that meant the least experienced. However, my experience totally blew me away. Chris was my stylist and he was amazing. I told him that I had never colored my hair before and I wanted something natural looking to cover my greys. He explained each step to me to let me know what did each step. He matched my natural color perfectly and gabe me natural looking highlights just a touch lighter than my actual hair color. He also gave me tips on how to style my hair at home for the color and cut he gave me. I am extremely happy with the turn out and would definitely recommend him to friends! read more

Had my first post-lockdown haircut last month and tried Chris Villaverde at Paulo's Atelier. I have been getting my hair styled in NYC for years, but needed to find a local place given that my office is still shut down. Turns out to be the one silver lining of this whole pandemic nightmare. Chris is totally amazing and really did a great job. I was so happy that I got my wife and kids to all switch from their local stylists to Chris. Just went back for my first follow-up haircut and had another great experience. The entire salon is top notch, and operating safely. And Chris does a great job of listening to what you are looking for, lifestyle, etc., and comes up with the perfect style. I've gotten my hair done (cut & color) a few times here and am impressed, since it compares to other more expensive places in Manhattan and Greenwich that I've tried. They are always friendly and I haven't had a problem (yet) making an appointment when I've needed one which has been an issue with other places. Sam has been doing my hair for about 5 years now and I couldn't be happier. She is really sweet and puts up with all my crazy ideas when I'm feeling bored with my hair. She's helped me take my naturally dark brown hair to light brown, blonde, and red. I also have naturally curly hair so she's provided a lot of guidance on how to care for it and keep it looking its best on a daily basis. Sam does really great balayage color, haircuts, and blowouts. My first haircut at Paulo's Atelier and it was off to a bad start from the opening salvo. The hair stylist appeared to be in a dour mood at first encounter which should have cued me to rethink the appointment. Then when discussing my hair, the stylist told me my hair would not do something I've had done numerous time. This should have been a cue to get out of the salon as quickly as possible. Then when cutting my hair, the stylist used an electric hair clipper and followed with thinners. Not once did the stylist touch my hair with shears. Mind you, I was once a dandy about town and sported $225 haircuts (yes, I know a few things about good haircuts -- a good stylist will never use thinners which is the hallmark of Fantastic Sams or Supercuts ). Inspecting the cut at home, I noticed the left and right sides were vastly uneven in length and volume. On the right side of my head, hair appears blunt cut and the length reaches almost to the bottom of my right ear. On the left side, the cut is more layered and the length only reaches the middle of the ear. The entire experience was remarkably dismal. Nope, I will never set foot in the salon again. read more

Her cuts and styles are absolutely beautiful and I always walk away happy. I've always been so nervous in the past with other colorists, but with Lorraine, shes knowledgeable and confident with her work, so my experience with her is always a pleasant and relaxing one. I went to this salon for the first time yesterday after work. Finding a salon open late is a struggle, and of course narrowing it down to a salon that has quality is extra difficult. I'm super picky and this salon exceeded my expectations! I just needed a trim this time around, to save my hair for the horrid dead ends that were taking over. Crystal did my hair and she was amazing! She provided insight on how to save my length while still getting rid of the dead ends. I was very happy that she didn't just chop my hair off, like most salons do when you say you just want a trim. My hair is healthy and has some life (and length)! I will definitely be returning for it to be my regular salon. The stylists were all friendly, helpful, and everyone at the salon seemed to be enjoying their conversations with their respective stylists. First of all, my hair went from a bright blonde w/ orange roots to not so orange roots with overly ashy gray blonde w/ green undertones. YUCK ! The colorist Sam was really nice but it's obvious she cannot color correct. She also handed me off to the assistant to blow dry my hair when she was done, because she had another appointment. Who does that?! But I guess I was treated that way because I was a Groupon client and the next woman was not. The assistant Cassidy was super nice but did not know how to give s blow out...poor thing struggled but was super nice and professional. I will not be going back!!! Doesn't look like anything special until you enter for the experience. I was taken on time, treated like a princess by Rose, the assistant who washed and conditioned my hair. She is a real asset to the salon, as she was constantly attentive, making sure that I had everything possible to make my visit a nice one. From refilling my coffee to making me a cappuccino and then cleaning out my travel mug, fixing my reading glasses so as not to get color on them, I have never had such care by a happy and professional helper.
