We absolutely love dining at White rooster! It is the same delicious menu all day long but a completely different feel in the restaurant from morning to night. In the morning, i love coming in for dirty chai and huevos rancheros. The sauce they use on the huevos rancheros and some other dishes, like the burrito is so delicious and flavorful, and put such a unique twist on one of my favorite breakfasts! The tri-tip tacos are unbelievable and all of the sweet dishes like the blue corn waffles and the pancakes with mascarpone are a hit every time. Came for dinner, but I think this spot is a lot more popular for brunch. I got the yellowtail bowl and it was tasty, though I felt that the brown rice was slightly undercooked and a little too firm. My friend got the same bowl with shrimp and I think her shrimp was better than my yellowtail. We ordered the bluberry pancakes for dessert and it was so good. Would definitely order that again. Service was great. Super casual spot that can get a little warm in hot days as is it is an indoor/outdoor concept with no air conditioning. We had great service from our waiter Brandon. We got the house coffee with cream. The coffee was outstanding, rich flavor and really pipping hot. The cream is super rich, almost like clotted cream. My husband got the N'or Easterner & my son got the Elvis. The Elvis was too sweet for my taste, but my son loved it. My hubby loved his waffles too. I got the huevos rancheros which was very nice with delicious zucchini in it. I wished it had more flavor in the sauce though, and I kept wanting a bit of salt to sprinkle over it. We were down in Dana Point for the day and were looking for something new to try so we went to The White Rooster. Our server was amazing (5/5). She was helpful with the menu and her Midwest charm came through too. We started with the Queso Dip. It had decent flavor (4/5) but came out cold (they took it back and brought it back hot). For the mains we had the Tri Tip Tacos (delicious, hot and packed with flavor 5/5) and the Gallo Gordo Burrito (with three meats and great flavor but again it was cold (4/5). Not sure why the food was so cold. I did not have the heart to send the burrito back so I just took it home and heated it up for lunch the next day. It was great day two. The decor is also beautiful, we got seated quickly and our drinks and food came out fast. If you want to try something different, check this place out. It's Mexican style but with a lot of twists. I got the Smoked Tri-Tip Protein Bowl and it was pretty outstanding. Burnt ends, beans, rice and some sauce topped with 3 fat slices of Tri-Tip. The beans and rice are their version of the Mexican staples and are delicious by themselves. She got the Famous Smoked Tri-Tip Tacos and really enjoyed them as well. They use a blue corn tortilla which is a bit more substantial than the standard corn tortilla. They have house made hot sauces on the table, which made the food even better! Everybody we spoke to here was easy going and friendly, which adds to the experience. We came here for lunch on a Saturday and had about a 25-minute wait. The restaurant has a cool vibe with a large indoor/outdoor feel. The servers were nice and the place was clean. I ordered the Pacific Pearl Chopped Salad with the dressing on the side (3/10), but it came already mixed in. GREAT local spot with quality ingredients and interesting combination. OBSESSED with the fact that they have such a huge selection of Gluten Free pastries (that my gluten-loving hubby also loves)! Amazing new spot for anyone who loves Mexican food, or classic breakfast/brunch entrees. We came by around 12 and it was about a 40 minute wait. Love that the entire menu does not include any seed oils and great seafood options. The Elvis waffle was hands down the star of the show! There's great coffee/matcha and cocktail options depending on the vibe you're looking for. The short rib tacos were delicious, and all tables have 3 different sauces :green, red and tomatillo. We weren't sure how it would be, considering it seemed newer than the rest of the restaurants in the area, however the parking was easy and upon first entering on a Friday we were met with the funniest hostess that informed us we can sit anywhere. After, we were graced with the serving of Brynn our whole experience. Tye bottomless mimosas were incredibly worth it and included a plethora of delicious flavors including their "lemonade". As far as the food goes, everything was DELICIOUS including the shrimp fajita burrito and Classic American breakfast. However, the star of the show, by far, was the Shrimp and Grits tamale. I was really looking forward to dining here for brunch, but unfortunately it was a disappointing experience. The food was great, but the service ruined the whole dining experience. Our table had ordered coffees and it took them at least 30 minutes for them to arrive and we had to remind our server about the coffees. There were times when we needed more water and napkins, but our server was never to be seen until she dropped off the check and never once were we asked about food or if we needed anything. It wasn't too busy as there were some empty tables and we saw other staff members for there to be lacking of service or to better put it, no service. We were bummed that they were out of their queso dip, but got the Birria fries instead, and it ended up being a very welcome substitute! They were my favorite part of our meal. The Pickle del Gallo (just pickled zucchini - YUM) and the guac were fantastic toppings. We got the carnitas queso, tri tip, and yellowtail tacos and all enjoyed our choice. I had the smoked yellowtail bowl with too much aïoli which was kind of disappointing however bf loved his tri tip bowl and didn't have an issue with the aioli sauce. Same as mine as far as sauce. Dana Point, Ca. We are now regulars here for lunch. When we got an email announcing Paella for Valentines I called right away to make a res at noon. When we arrived on noon on Feb. 14, there was a beautiful display of paella at the host kiosk. Things went a bit askew when we put our order in for said paella. Our waitress was slightly caught off guard. We told her it was on display at the host kiosk and was a Valentines Day special. She checked in with the chef and was told it was for the 5:30 and 7:30 sittings, not for lunch. I was a bit disappointed but resigned myself to ordering something else, after all everything is good here. My wife, Steph, decided that the host should be made aware that the email we received said the paella was to be served up all day, and the display should be removed to avoid confusion. The host went back to the chef who decided that he would make the paella for us if we didn't mind the wait. We were stoked! To kill about 30 minutes we had a salad and tri tip barbacoa quesaditas which were awesome. The tri tip was tender and no evidence of the typical chew. In anticipation of the forthcoming paella, I avoided the rice and beans except for a taste (Which Was Awesome). Our table was cleared off to make room for the paella platter and its domed cover which held in the smokey steam. It was presented by Chef Michael Campbell himself, I was a bit awe struck, but he is a down to earth friendly guy who answered all our questions. Impressed as I was with the delivery by the Chef, the Paella was impressive on its own, a visual work of art, that was bursting with flavors that included wonderful spices and a bit of smoke. The mussels were tender and had absorbed the spices. The crab Cakes, featuring real crab, were spot on. The large Shrimp were a delight. Also hidden amongst the rice and green peas were these lamb meatballs that were absolute gems. As you may have expected, the serving size could accommodate more than two people, what we took home with us provided a dinner that evening and a lunch for me the following day.
