I went to St. Francis Xavier University ("X") in Antigonish and graduated in 1983. I lived in residence my first two years and they didn't feed us on the weekends. As a poor student, I didn't have a lot of money. Pretty well every Sunday we would have supper at the Wheel. They took cheques and a small cheese and pepperoni pizza only cost $4. Gord has heard me talk about the Wheel and wanted to try it so we went there for supper tonight. It hasn't changed a bit ... well, except for the prices. We ordered a large pizza ... pepperoni and bacon on the whole thing, mushrooms on Gord's half and fresh tomatoes on my half. Yum-mee! It was delicious! Sometimes when you remember things from your past, they don't live up to reality. This time it did. Yay!

Before heading out to Antigonish for a wedding, we were told beforehand that hitting up The Wheel is a must if we were ever in the area. We stayed at St.FX so on our way back into town, we gave The Wheel a call so our food could be delivered as soon as we arrived (they said it'd be about 20 mins or so). Unfortunately, it was closer to 50 mins when our donair pizza and garlic fingers arrived. Luckily we weren't too hangry at that point and we were able to live the university life like the students do by eating late night pizza in our dorm rooms with a group of friends lol The donair pizza was so so, but the garlic fingers were really good and I would recommend those for sure.

Exceptional service and owners that are engaging and caring. Great tasting pizza to accompany stellar ownership in small-town Antigonish.

Awesome bready dough, sauce, thick cheese, and quality toppings. One of my favourites. Most everything's good.

What's there not to like? It's simply delicious! It's always busy and is an iconic Antigonish place!

The Wheel is great, but the cheese of the pizza can slip off easily and can be kind of thick. It still tastes great!

There aren't a whole lot of places to eat in downtown Antigonish, so we went with Brownstone and…read morecrossed our fingers that it would be good. We were pleasantly surprised! They're located off of the main road in downtown and if you arrive after 4pm, you can park at the metered parking for free! Upon entering, we were warmly greeted by a staff member and told to sit wherever we like. It's a medium sized restaurant with two sections and a small bar. The menu is diverse and prices are on par with the other restaurants in the area. I got the soup of the day for $6.95 which was tomato cheddar and it came with a delicious biscuit! For my entree I went with the steamed mussels for $13.95. It was a decent sized portion and I was extremely pleased with both items that I ordered. Hubby got the Mediterranean Chicken Wrap for $15.95 and loved it! They have a diverse cocktail menu filled with local craft beers, wines, spirits, etc. I had a pint of the Butcher Block Red Ale and it was smooth and somewhat bold. The food came out fast and the service was super friendly! I loved how they had the place all decorated with pumpkins and fall leaves. Very festive! I would highly recommend this place if you're passing through Antigonish!
