The Westwood is a cool little dive-esq bar that recently opened up in my neighborhood (Westview, not West End!). They have all the food essentials necessary to support the drinking you can definitely expect you'll be doing here! I've had the burger and it was good, though I think the actual patty could've been seasoned more, and not rely so much on the sauce that comes on the burger. Also tried the mozzarella cheese sticks my friend ordered and enjoyed those. My go-to drink has been a Gin & Tonic w/ lemon juice #Classic and it hits every single time. There are a few beers on tap, some bottled options, and a full bar available. The staff have been great so far, very approachable. The best part, besides the relaxed menu pricing, is the hours. Opened EVERY day and late (till midnight during the week - including Sunday, and till 2 during the weekend)!!! Once I zero in on my official bartender of choice, the rest will be history!!

It's actually hilarious that I've been in this parking lot SO many times for neighboring spots like…read moreLee + White Food Hall and somehow never realized Boxcar was right there! My friend and I wanted to try something different, and when she suggested Boxcar, I literally asked, "Where is that?" She pointed out that it was in the same area we'd been standing in countless times. For anyone visiting for the first time, it is a little tucked away past the food hall. You'll also need to walk up a set of stairs to reach the restaurant, which is worth knowing ahead of time if stairs are inconvenient or inaccessible for you. Once inside, I really liked the atmosphere. They also offer outdoor seating, but with the Georgia heat that day, there was absolutely no discussion--we were sitting INSIDE. Our server was Najah (please forgive me if I'm misspelling!), and she was AWESOME. Such a warm spirit, great energy, and exactly the type of person you'd want greeting you whether it's your first visit or your tenth. Since this was my first time, I asked for recommendations. We started with the Boom Boom Shrimp from the happy hour menu, which is available Monday through Friday until 7 PM. The shrimp? 10/10. No notes! For our entrées, my friend ordered the fish and chips, which she loved--and it came with hush puppies, so really, how could you go wrong? I ordered the Bourbon Bacon Jam Smashburger, and it was cooked perfectly. I don't even remember being asked how I wanted it cooked, but somehow they knew exactly what needed to happen. And that bacon jam?! I LOVE a sweet-and-salty combination, so it was right up my alley. The fries were fire too, but apparently I was feeling a little greedy because I noticed mac & cheese on the menu and decided I needed that as well. LISTEN. I would've been perfectly happy if somebody had taken away everything else and left me alone with that mac & cheese. It was THAT good. Easily 20/10. I actually had to ask Najah who made it because I needed to understand what exactly was happening back there! She told me about the chef, who is Caribbean and from New York, and as someone with Caribbean roots who is also from New York, I may be a little biased--but suddenly I understood why that mac & cheese spoke to my spirit the way it did. I've literally been telling people about it ever since. There's still so much on the menu that caught my attention, including the lamb burger, Brussels sprouts, short rib, and several other dishes. I've included a picture of the menu because there's definitely more exploring to do here. As far as seating, Boxcar seems pretty versatile. There were just two of us, but there's plenty of indoor seating along with bar seating, and I could easily see a group of around 10-12 being comfortable. I also noticed what appeared to be a separate space toward the back that may be available for larger gatherings. Between Najah's wonderful service, the atmosphere, everything we ordered, and THAT MAC & CHEESE, Boxcar absolutely earned a return visit. I've already been bragging about the mac & cheese to everybody who will listen, so now I'm looking forward to finding out what I'll be bragging about after my next visit.

My crew and I love Boxcar! The vibes are always consistent, whether we're sitting at the bar or…read moregrabbing a table. It's a great spot to come with friends, enjoy some good food and drinks, and have a good time. They also have some pretty good happy hour specials during the week, which makes it even better for a weekday outing. Definitely a spot we enjoy coming back to!

Truly in love…read more Visited this place for morning brunch and sat outside with the bebè and the puppers and had some amazing food! Came back for some late night Tortas (the wait was long but I found out later you can order ahead). Since I had to wait i grabbed a seat and a beer at the bar and was amazed at the choices from drafts to cans to liquor! Social distancing and COVID safety is practiced here so I felt comfortable waiting for my food and would even come back on a cold day and sit inside! Near the beltline so perfect to take a walk after! The food was phenomenal and reasonable priced, as was the draft beer IMO. Trying to sneak a fair priced house over here but until then glad we have so many great places on this side of town!! You don't have to even get into atlanta traffic from the south side to make it over here and it's less crowded if you want to access the beltline during the pandemic.

The bartender Ida, decides with no real merit to their word that they need to bully me until I left. Which is inexplicable to me since I don't bring my own problems from home, as a PATRON. I have no idea why I suddenly need to be made to feel unwelcome. If it means protecting my peace, from someone's misery. It's certainly not worth it?

A Hidden Gem! Think Cheers with a Cool, Modern Twist!…read more I recently discovered this little hidden gem, and I am SO glad I did! I've visited three times in one month, and the experience has been consistently amazing. That alone should tell you something! The service is beyond incredible, the atmosphere is chill and eclectic, and the music is everything! Think old school R&B and hip hop with the perfect neighborhood lounge vibe. Whether you're out with a group of friends or enjoying a solo night out, you're guaranteed to have a good time! And the drinks? AMAZING! I honestly can't say enough. They have snacks available, but if you need something a little more substantial to absorb the liquor (smile), there are several great eateries nearby. Even better, you can bring your food back and continue enjoying the experience! The best way I can describe this place is a modern, remixed version of Cheers! It's welcoming, unpretentious, full of personality, and just an all around cool place to hang out. Now, I have to give credit where it's due. I've only had the pleasure of being served by Niko, the male bartender, so I can't speak to everyone else's service. But Niko? PHENOMENAL! His hospitality, attentiveness, and personality have absolutely contributed to my experience. What impresses me most is the consistency. Three visits in one month, and not a single disappointing experience. That's worth mentioning! I love finding places that feel like they were made for people who appreciate good music, great drinks, genuine hospitality, and an atmosphere where you can just be yourself. This place is definitely a keeper!

There probably isn't a bar in the city that offers as breathtaking of a view as does Moonlight. The panorama of all three of Atlanta's skyscraper centers is clearly visible, along with the historical architecture of Ponce City Market. The crowd is mix of tourists and locals in their 20s and 30s. The cocktails are solid. Food is decent, nothing to rave about, but again, hopefully nobody is here for the food. The lobster roll was very bread heavy and the useless dab of caviar was just a wasteful decoration. Yet, the atmosphere of the place, situated in the beautiful Forth hotel makes Moonlight an incredible spot for drinks.

Having dined at Elektra already this weekend, we wanted to try something different. Hostess started with some type of unposted dress coded nonsense because my son was in a hoodie (which he agreed to remove) before we were granted access. Arrive inside and it's standing room only at the bar - all seating areas are clearly designed for large groups and they're all occupied, as were the handful of actual seats at the bar. Proceed to order numerous dishes from the menu to-go. Bar tenders, in fairness, were very pleasant btw. Nowhere to wait except standing there like idiots until bartender says we can sit in a reserved section for a bit. Nasty waitress comes by soon after to usher us away, despite conflicting instructions from the bar. Anyway, insult to injury when it appears I've been charged a service charge and a gratuity charge and the dishes were small and mostly not great. The wings were ok, but the grilled cheese was gross, the flatbread was minuscule, the cheese plate was meh. Overall, between the mostly rude to indifferent staff attitude, lack of seating, and poor quality of food this place deserves a pass. ,
