Sometimes you end up in places for interesting reasons. No matter where I go, I always love to find a wellness cafe that has juices and smoothies. Today was a 97 degree day in Philli, and I was sweating like a hog that just finished laying in the sun and I needed something to cool me down. I was greeted by a kind and welcoming staff, and I ordered the "Revitalize" smoothie!! This was recommended by the staff to help me recharge and to cool my body down as well. It did just that! I sat down and slurped my smoothie and relished in the delicious flavors and felt my body rebalancing and recharging with each and every sip! If I am ever in Philadelphia again, I will definitely check out more items on the menu! Cheers to good eats!

I was lucky enough to win an unlimited month at the Wellness Refinery from the Old City Festival (valued at $299). I was very intrigued as I've never been a frequent sauna-goer and I don't think I've ever been to an infrared sauna. I went twice and really enjoyed it, especially with the weather getting colder, but decided the continued membership isn't worth it for me since it's a bit far from where I live and for the price point I would rather drop in at a gym like the Bellevue which has a steam room and sauna as well as a pool and a full gym. I was able to reserve a session online for 2 people for 45 minutes (normally $109 for 2 people, $59 for 1). They also have the option of 30 minutes ($69 for 2, $39 for 1). The space is small but very calming, with a few seats downstairs. It wasn't too busy both times I went. There is a small cafe with some $9 smoothies and $6 lattes available and a shelf with some fancy creams and spritzes and tonics and all sorts of fancy stuff I don't know how to use on my face but probably should for sale. The saunas are upstairs- I think there are 2 or 3 (same size for 1 or 2 people, just less space). There is a small changing area with lots of towels and they give you a large jug of ice water, some individual towelettes to wipe the sweat from your body and face after (there are no showers, because they say you sweat for a while after the sauna so you should go home and then showed later). They even write your name on a little display thing which is very sweet and a nice touch. There is also a remote so you can play with different color lights (and a menu telling you which colors do what). You can also plug in your phone (iPhone adapter only) and play music in your sauna. The first time I did it I had to leave after 30 minutes because as Nelly said, it's getting hot in here, but the second time I got used to it and stayed the full 45. Every part of your body will be sweating more than you ever knew it could. The space is just small enough that you can't really lay down, unless you are in the fetal position, so its more of a sitting thing. Don't miss the fancy products in the bathroom after to wash up! They have an intro special of 2 30 minute sessions for $49 and different 5 pack, 10 pack, 4x a month, 8x a month and unlimited package. I think the prices are a bit high, but I'm also not a frequent sauna goer so this may be normal! Recommend checking it out if you are interested in trying a new way to relax.

Delicious drinks! Stop in for a fresh smoothie. I love the strawberry cacao drink, the lemon poppyseed is also tasty.

Did a custom smoothie for me each morning I was in town for a trip. Really appreciated it, considering it was a complicated order.

It was extra disappointing because before ordering I asked if the kale blend was liquidy and like a juice, and the worker said that it was thick and not as thin as a smoothie; but it definitely was thinner than a smoothie. It was like water. It also tasted like water. The granola became like oatmeal because it soaked up the liquidy kale blend very quickly. I would've liked more toppings too to compensate for the lack of flavor in everything else. For a bowl named "muscle magic" too, I expected it to be more substantial, but it felt like I ate nothing. The worker was really friendly though, so I feel bad for leaving a 1 star review, but the bowl I got really was so bad. Maybe their acai base bowls or smoothies are a bit better, but the kale blend bowl was not for me. Update: The owner responds to you really quickly, and they are a small business actively trying to improve. If you end up not liking what you get, the owner says they will happily remake it for you or refund you. They refunded me, which I really appreciate. If you want to support a small business, pay them a visit and try them out.

It sucks, but it is what it is. It think the portion is a little smaller than playa bowls but that's to be expected with a small business. I will say that my bowl may have looked smaller, but it was pretty dense. I shared it with my sister and we were both satisfied. I don't think this is a staple item so I wouldn't return often, but as an occasional treat it's worth stopping in.

I've walked by this place so many times over the past 12 or so years, always wanting to go inside but never doing so because I chose to eat at the sushi place nearby or the mini market across the street or, back in the day, go to the hot yoga studio two blocks away. On this fateful day, I finished a sushi meal and had an odd hankering for a green drink because I saw it in one of Soy Cafe's promo pictures. I let the kind lady behind the register decide what drink I should get. All I said was I wanted a green drink that was sweet. She suggested a Hangover Helper smoothie. My first thought was... I'm not seeking a cure for a hangover! But I just nodded and took a chance. There were similarly odd names for other drinks. I started reading the ingredients of my drink. Wait a second... pineapple... cucumber... ginseng... wait... cucumber?!!! That can't be good! Ginseng? Bleagh!!! But I decided to trust her advice and not stop the order. It was probably too late anyway. When I received my drink, I thanked the kind lady and started sipping the drink as I left. Whoa. This wasn't supposed to taste good! I could taste the cucumber, but it was very refreshing, like something I could find myself sipping on the beach. The soy milk and agave... this. wasn't. supposed. to. taste. good... As I walked to my car, I kept thinking about how I could've missed something like this all my life, and all because I was too stupid to walk into Joy Cafe when I had a chance. Don't you make the same mistake I did! Go there and get a soy smoothie. You'll be glad you did.

I'm not sure if the woman I spoke with was the owner but it was a middle aged woman and an older lady working. They were so smiley, so warm and friendly. So warming, so comforting, fresh veggies!!! Both were fantastic and exactly what I needed. My friend also got the "send noods" but with soba noodles and the ginger turmeric broth, and she loved hers as well. The store has tons of baked goods, smoothies, breakfast all day, lattes, and a thrift rack too plus jewelry! Tons of cute magazine and books around. Just overall a beautiful vibe and I hope this place flourishes!

Last night I visited with a group of 6 friends for some late night snacks. We ordered a handful of milkshakes, some small burgers, and fries for the table. Nice thing is that service was prompt and our food was served as quickly. In past visits when they were busier the wait time for food was much longer. But that's usually been ~dinner time when the restaurant is also otherwise impacted, so nothing out of the norm. My key lime shake was delicious. Warning: these things are HUGE. Split or be prepared to have an unproductive rest of your day. Fries are so-so in my experience, but honestly when you're gorging down other things like burgers and milkshakes, I'm not focusing too much on any kind of superior fry quality. I'd have shown you a photo, but it was so good it was gone before it came to mind to snap a shot. At restaurants I'm a "get one thing and only get one thing" kind of guy, and for me that's the double Texas Ringer here. If it's your first time, that's what I'd start out with and you can branch out from there on later visits. SOLID burger. Restaurant is generally clean, given the amount of traffic that comes through. The neon 50's (?) vibe is a nice touch to match with the food that's being served for an all-around experience that matches. And open late? Great for your late night dinner or dive food cravings!

Plus a lemonade - looked fresh squeezed Diner 2: double ring burger plus the cheesecake Oreo milkshake and bottle of water. They don't let you drink the fountain water, had to buy a bottle. Diner 3: me- double cheeseburger with fried diced onions, lettuce, tomato, pickles and mayo so good. Probably could've done the single. Had a root beer soda. The place seemed clean. And busy. Would go back. It had been years since we went to the McDade Blvd one. It was a total of $83 with tip.

The selection of snacks at the register is very carefully curated. Mostly all-natural/clean on-the-go foods, with a few recognizable brands found at Whole Foods.
