A nice female associate was the one who professionally interacted with me to tell me more about this place. If I still lived around, I'd shop here for food and clothes. And make my donations here too. So odd, I asked some folks entering here for a place to get garlic and all they suggested was a Meyer a nearby, but no way was I going to a Meijer for garlic. Glad I found it here. Maybe advertising at the register to the folks who shop here about the offering besides clothes would be a good idea. Unique thrift stores have in store "did you know?" announcements letting shoppers know about upcoming sales.

A pretty good selection of used fiction, and almost all in great shape. Lots of children's books and a section for Christian books as well. Most recently, I found excellent hard copies of Toni Morrison's Love, Annie Proulx Accordion Crimes, and Alice McDermott After This to name a few. They also do a grab bag discount on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Get a $5 bag from the store, and fill it up with as much as you can. The people that own the place are great, and you simply can't beet the price and the cause, and oh yeah, I'll say it again...just a great little bookstore in its own right.

Book lovers will enjoy going in and browsing for gift ideas or just for their own personal benefit. The staff is very helpful and pretty knowledgeable considering the wide variety of choices available. The mission of this place is such an important one: helping children in need in various ways. I had an amazing, incredibly reassuring and successful experience with this team that saved me…read morethousands. Consultation fee was $110 for my dog that ingested toxic medication. I called following our local pet ER telling us to come in immediately, within the next 20 minutes, or it would be fatal. Obviously caused a panic- called them as I was leaving to find out the dosage and weight would be completely fine and normal to treat at home (with close monitoring). Steep fee, of course, but would've spent the whole night and an absurd amount of money in the ER if not. I asked a lot of questions that were answered in full, even the ones that admittedly felt stupid. They gave me full descriptions of when to actually be worried in dire detail, down to the hour, and provided a case number to call back if anything were to go down. Thank you all.

Very frustrating, ultimately pointless yet pricy experience. Came home to find my dog had ingested…read moresome human medication. Called our vet (close to closing hours) and they recommended calling the ASPCA poison control center. Armed with a list consumed meds and dosages I contacted them. I was on the phone for an hour and 15 minutes, almost all of it on hold. In the end, I was charged $115 (seems to go up every year) and advised to take her to the emergency vet. I was issued a case number and a number for the emergency clinic vet to call and consult. We arrived at the emergency vet and sat and sat; found out some of the wait was the result of the front desk person at the vet being put on hold for 45(!) minutes to consult with their "poison control specialist" vet. By the time we were actually seen by the vet it had been as much as 5 hours since possible ingestion. She was fine throughout, and is 100% herself this morning. The treatment was an anti nausea med and some subcutaneous hydration though she would have much preferred to drink for herself. It's enough to cause me to suspect the big corporate and venture capital-owned practices make big donations to the ASPCA to encourage their clearly understaffed poison line to shuttle patients towards emergency vet practices. Corporate-owned vet practices (more all the time- you should ask!) recommend both poison control and emergency vets. Never again calling this line, or giving to the ASPCA. Shameless1

They train women to be effective volunteers, and many go on to serve on Boards of great service organizations. The social events were generally civilized, but they haven't forgotten how to party.
