Antonio showed me around the dance studio. It was clean, nicely decorated and I loved the disco balls hanging off the ceiling! The rest of our group joined us and we began our lesson! The first dance Antonio taught us was Bachata! Antonio explained it so well and we had sooo much fun following along! The next dance was Salsa. We started off slow then picked up some speed to go with the music. We took a break because boy! I felt like I had just done cardio LOL Our group took some beautiful pictures by the Christmas Tree. We finished it off with an awesome group dance! My friends and I had an amazing evening and WE CAN NOT wait to return! You are one super cool Ballroom dancer, Antonio!!!

I have friends that were into…read morecompeting in the 90's that taught me some basic stuff and I've wanted to grow that base ever since to become a skilled graceful dancer. I'm pretty decent, but super out of practice. Hubby on the other hand, grew up in a community straight out of the movie Footloose- ultra conservative Christian with no TV, no music, no dancing. He was permitted to play drums in symphony, but that was the limit of his musical upbringing, and he's NEVER been a dancer. That is changing. My fat ass needs to get back into shape and he needs to improve his cardio function. I HATE going to the gym and dance is my favorite form of exercise, so I purchased an introductory Groupon that includes 3 private lessons 1 group lesson and 1 dance party. We had our first lesson yesterday, and I have to give props to our instructor, Stas, who is also the owner. He sits down with you first to talk about how they run things, what you can expect, and to discover why you're there and what your goals are. He taught us basic dance steps, then taught us the basic merengue and salsa steps with a couple of turns. I was very impressed with his teaching style and look forward to many more lessons - and hope to instill a love of dance in hubby.

I lived in San Marco so I knew of Dance Trance but a Groupon made me try it out. I am about the least coordinated person around and I eventually caught on. Within a very short period of time, my instructor, the very capable, hard-working and patient Amelia Delahaye had me doing things on the dance floor that I didn't think were possible for me. The owner, Larry Audije, and his gracious staff of highly trained professional instructors have always made me feel welcome, comfortable and at home as I continue to hone my skills and improve as a dancer. For the…read moremost part, we had a good experience at BAC but there are some areas where the studio could improve. Positives: Staff was generally nice and knowledgable. I didn't have any issues, but I would say I would have appreciated some updates on my child in class. A simple "your child is doing well with x, but struggling with y" or "they seem to like this or not like this". The BAC community is fairly supportive at the young kids age. Parents are supportive of each other and there isn't any diva behavior. The location of the studio is pretty good and the recital is held at The Florida Theatre which is awesome. The studio has ample parking and bathrooms were clean. Negatives: The younger kids studio seems to be in a pretty old building. Some studios have more modern setups. This is in general and not specific to Jax. I wouldn't say the studio is more or less expensive than others, but I would say that there are some months with holidays that subtract a class. I feel that if you have less classes in a month you shouldn't have to pay for a full month of classes. I do also like how many other studios provide parents with two tickets to the recital albeit maybe they are not half at the best location. It is hard to support your kids with extra practice or support because where they are in terms of learning technique or learning how to dance to choreography is not communicated proactively to you. I would have loved to know where my daughter needed support to help her. Overall, I would suggest you give BAC a try. My daughter enjoyed her first dance class experience. We were likely to stick with BAC for another year and recital, but we moved away out of state. Yesterday, while at the pool we had music playing and I caught my daughter dancing to the music. She wasn't dancing ballet, but she has a love of music and I like to think that was supported and enhanced at BAC.

Our biggest complaint was that they didn't respect our preferences. I liked that you get to eat your meal before the show starts, allowing you to just enjoy the venue and chat with your table as you eat. And you don't have to worry about servers being in the way, or dining too loudly. That being said, eating and then having the show after does eat away a big chunk of the evening. As for the food, you're paying more for the experience rather than the best food of your life. There were some things I loved like the bread and butter and the squash casserole. But other things like the salmon was super fishy, or the pork cutlet was kind of dry and tough in the middle. The show was amazing and really funny. The cast performed so well, and I like that the venue is on the smaller side. Definitely makes for a more intimate and interactive experience.
