11/04/10 - Atreyu
Heather G.

I've seen two shows here: Motion City Soundtrack and Atreyu. Ticket prices are reasonable, $20 for both shows that I saw. It's in a sketchball neighborhood, but there's not many shady people hanging around (if that makes any sense whatsoever) The venue is on the small-ish side, which is a good thing...sometimes you can meet members of the band. The bathrooms are ghetto and beat up, but for being where it is, the venue as a whole is quite nice. Yes, the security people can be pricks...I got "warned" for taking video on my phone...except I was just taking pictures...but if they weren't there, things would be out of control.

I've been here apparently several times, but this may have been my first in the underground and not the main room itself. It was... Okay. I'm also 29 and not the young person who could handle all these concerts. I came home with several unknown bruises, and I avoided the mosh pit at all costs. I did appreciate the intimate setting of the venue to be able to see a band so close up and get some great pictures of them. However that also means I'm very intimate with my fellow concert goers, many of whom could learn about deoderant and soap. I started on the left side of the room, and after feeling trapped by the mosh pit, made it to the right side of the room where I discovered the very open bar area where I could actually breathe. I also discovered the area where the band enters the stage, and proceeded to stand there all night to watch the concert. Also - since I only brought a debit card and the ATM machine inside the place was not working, I figured the bar would take cards. I was correct, was able to purchase a water ($3.50) but then got my second water for free so that was awesome :). I think most people that go here appreciate what the venue does - brings music at a cheaper cost and at an intimate venue. It needs air conditioning or passing out of free deoderant when people enter, but other than that, it was definitely a great time!

Great venue in Hartford for rock and punk shows. Local and national acts. Sound quality is really good, loud but almost never too loud. It's an all-ages venue most of the time, with a separate area for 21+ folks to drink and watch the show. This venue is connected to the Webster Underground, which often acts as a side stage for larger shows but also puts on its own smaller concerts. Parking is available in the lot behind the Webster, usually for $5. There's also lots of free on-street parking in the neighborhoods surrounding, but be warned: this is not the safest neighborhood.

Welcome to the Hartford hood. All for OK Go show. Parking in the back is well lit and seemed secure.

What's behind the Green Door?…read more Well, I remember a song from my childhood called "Green Door" -it had a honky-tonk piano sound and I kind of remember it got some radio play in the early '60s. I also remember there was a porno movie named "Behind the Green Door". It was a big deal in 1972 and "starred" Marilyn Chambers -the Ivory Snow girl. Fast Forward to today. What's Behind the Green Door up in Collinsville, CT? A very nice restaurant known as the Green Door Restaurant. It's the house restaurant at Bridge Street Live - a music and entertainment venue on the Farmington River in the funky little town of Collinsville. We had dinner at the Green Door tonight and had a pretty favorable experience. We sat outside on the deck and enjoyed a pretty view of the River and enjoyed a singer and his acoustic guitar. So what kind of food might one find behind their Green Door? The menu had seven appetizers ranging from a $6 soup to an $18 Charcuterie Board, three salads ranging from $10 to $14 with a protein add-on between $8-$10 more, five sandwiches with a side for $13 or $14, six personal pizzas ($10-$15), and eight entrees ranging from $14 - $34. We shared a Hummus platter ($10) served with pita wedges, grape tomatoes, carrot and celery sticks, and broccoli florets. The hummus with Roasted Red Pepper was very good, the veggies were cold and crisp, and the pita bread was soft and warm. Not a bad value for ten bucks, but the actual amount of hummus wasn't very generous. I ordered one of the entrees - a Seared Sesame Ahi Tuna Bowl for $18. It was a big serving of six tuna slices with red quinoa & buckwheat, maybe two dozen crispy chickpeas, shaved carrots, sliced avocado, and arugula with a herb lemon dressing. The dish tasted great and was a pretty good value, considering the large serving. We also ordered a Reuben Sandwich ($14) of shaved corned beef, Thousand Island dressing, house made sauerkraut, and Fontina cheese, on Marbled Rye. The sandwich tasted great (especially the bread) but the weak link was the quantity of corned beef - not nearly enough. My Diet Coke $3 and that price speaks for itself -it was high. Our modest dinner ran around $47 (after tax) and I didn't really feel our overall value was there. Yes, the view was nice, the service was friendly, and the menu was varied. If you're attending a show at Bridge Street, it does make a lot of sense to eat here as a convenience. Otherwise, I'm not really convinced to go through that Green Door again.

Great place to watch a concert. Down side is that the beer…read moresection is very dated. No craft beers, just your basic Bud, seasonal Sam Adams, etc.

My cousin ordered the bourbon steak tips great flavor but extremely tough the mashed potatoes and grilled Brussels sprouts were good. U had the Cobb salad with crispy chicken. It was huge and very good I had plenty of of left overs . Definitely give it a try Thanks Enjoy Chris M

This place has a great amount of space with plenty of seating and parking, which is always a plus…read more I also heard they do karaoke on Fridays, though I didn't stay long enough to check that out. The décor was really cute for Valentine's Day, nicely done without being over the top. I liked that there's both a full dining room and a separate bar area with table seating, so it feels versatile depending on what kind of night you're having. The service, unfortunately, was a little slow and underwhelming. I waited quite a while just for water while others were being served, and overall I felt a bit rushed rather than welcomed. Food-wise, the mac and cheese was a bit dry on top at first, but once I got into the bottom where the cheese was thicker, it was actually pretty good. The meatloaf was just okay, nothing bad, but nothing that really stood out. Since it was my first visit, I was hoping to be more impressed, but it didn't really give me that "I can't wait to come back" feeling. Not terrible, just not memorable enough yet.

The decorum was not the same but the energy reminded me of my old stomping ground (O'Neils in New London RIP). I enjoyed the collection of decor, especially the dragon hanging from the ceiling and the little guy in the upper corner. The bar tender was friendly and I enjoyed over hearing them talk with regulars. I ordered the happy hour nachos and a Diet Coke. There wasn't anything fancy about them but they felt nostalgic (and very cheesy!). I want to come back and try one of their grill cheese but I don't know if my tummy could handle that much cheese in one go.

With good reviews and a cool menu we dropped in and couldn't have been happier! We were pretty lucky as it was not that busy and we were able to get a table right away. The decor is eclectic and interesting. The staff came with a great smile and even better attitude; absolutely top notch! We started w the pretzels and beer cheese. Holy 6 pound baby Jesus they were good. They came out piping hot and the cheese was in a bubbling side dish. This isn't your typical dab of cheese in a plastic condiment container that is commonplace nowadays. I had the Arturo Sandoval (spin on a Cuban) as my entree and it was also fabulous and came out hot. If I was being critical, the pork was a wee bit dry, but that happens sometimes and it really didn't take away from the sando. Even the small side of pasta salad was outstanding. I'm lucky if I eat sides like that 1/100 times and this one I couldn't wait to finish. Great vibe, great staff, great food, and live music almost every day. Definitely gonna go back and if it's just as good will update to 5 stars.
