The staff were a bit overwhelmed but they stayed calm and friendly. We were a party of two and were seated immediately at an outdoor table next to the fountain. It's a very nice patio that was nicely lit by the hotel lights as it got darker. Our waitress was very friendly and greeted us when she came to our table. My wife ordered the pecan crusted salmon, which she said was very good. It was a large portion of nicely-cooked salmon. I ordered two items from the appetizer menu - bacon wrapped quail and kale beet salad. Both were very large portions, plenty for a meal or maybe even 2 people. There were about 6 pieces of quail and a moderately spicy aioli. It was very good. The kale beet salad was also delicious. We also had a piece of chocolate mousse cake, that was delicious. Nice and chocolatey but not overly sweet or rich. Even though the restaurant was crowded, our service was great. Our waitress was always friendly, checked on us often enough, and took the time to chat briefly without seeming harried. The food came out quickly and was hot and fresh. Our total check was about $75 plus tip. Not inexpensive but worth it for the food, service and ambience.

If you have never heard of the movie, that is a lot of their problem. The hotel and restaurant are resting on their laurels from a movie from the 1950s. If you took a date to see Giant when it first came out, you probably need food you can gum. We were here two years ago and had a good experience so we came back and were sorely disappointed. Service was appallingly slow because there was one waitress (who was great) for the entire restaurant and patio. There was one bartender. Very short-staffed. We had drinks and chips and salsa on the patio before moving inside for dinner. Entrees on the menu were chicken and veggie burgers (no beef?) and chicken was out. The other entrees were the pistachio-crusted steak (basically fancy chicken fried steak) and a ribeye. They were out of the pistachio-crusted steak. So, it was a veggie burger or a ribeye. No chicken dishes, no fish, no pasta. A frozen veggie burger or a $45 ribeye. We started with a a charcuterie board which was tasty but not very generous. The ribeyes were served on mashed potatoes and very good, but there was no vegetable, no bread - just steak and potatoes. I don't mind the price of the steak but part of that price is service and if there is one server for an entire restaurant and the patio, the service is not going to be that good, and it wasn't. Drinks were not refilled, dessert wasn't offered (they might have been out!), so it was eat and run. So, staffing issues, inventory management issues and a restaurant that had a number of customers to serve so they should do better. Much better.

The waitstaff is terrific, from the friendly bartender (you can purchase almost the entire menu for 1/2 price at the bar!), to the professional waiters. The food choices are diverse and international. I love the dumplings and the bao; they transport you right to China. The glazed shrimp appetizer is to die for, and the pizza, best in Marfa. But the real piece de resistance is the steak, especially ribeye special. It's huge, and cooked just right (I love mine medium rare). Shout out to the ramen, unlike any you've ever had, and the wide variety of drink specials provide a number of whimsical choices that should please every taste bud. The chef here is terrific, as is the service. You can eat here 5 times and never have the same international fare. It's shocking in West Texas to discover a restaurant so accommodating, and the prices mean the entire family can enjoy the experience. Don't miss this incredible restaurant!

We started with the salad, which was a solid opener--fresh, generous portion, and overall enjoyable. Nothing that really stood out, but definitely not a miss. The pizza was... okay. You can tell it's fire oven cooked, which is usually a win, but ours came out a bit too toasty--borderline burnt on one side. It also wasn't cut properly, which made things a little awkward. Some slices weren't cut through at all (had to ask for a knife), and others were uneven--ranging from oversized wedges to tiny slivers. Service was a little scattered, but to be fair, we came in toward the end of the night and our server mentioned it had been a hectic evening. No real complaints there--just felt a bit rushed and disorganized. A couple of downsides: they close at 9:30, which isn't ideal if you're looking for a late-night bite or drink, and there's no room service--you have to head down to order. Overall, it's a convenient spot if you're staying at the hotel and need something easy, but it's not necessarily a destination meal. Convenient? Yes. Notable? Meh.

We started with a cup of Jalapeño and Cilantro Soup. It's a cream based soup. I couldn't detect much of any heat from the Jalapeños and the cilantro was pretty much hidden. Maybe a sprinkling of fresh cilantro on top would have made it more pronounced. It also needed to be served hot. We then got the 14oz Ribeye which came with mashed potatoes & green beans. This was a great plate of food! It came out hot! The person who brought it out waited until we cut into it to see if it was acceptable. We've never had any staff person do that for us before! It was a little under done on one side, but the other was perfect. We almost finished the plate. It was delicious! Lastly, we got the Chocolate Bread Pudding Tamale.
