I was really impressed with the class; the instructor was really focused on alignment, had moves I hadn't practiced before (and I have been to a LOT of barre classes), and brought a ton of positive energy. The class was full but not over-packed, and it was a great workout with a lot of stretching and relaxation. An extra bonus: we met the owner, Ashley, who is local and has a dance background. After neglecting exercise all of my life, my body began feeling the consequences. For years I bounced between yoga, physical therapy, personal trainers, boxing, deep tissue massage, with little to show for them, and an accelerating rate of injuries. Pilates has helped me understand my body and physiology in ways I never could (sometimes in ways that still don't make rational sense). To not rant on for too long, I can confirm I am hooked on pilates for life. 2. Six Degrees is an incredible studio. Every teacher is supremely skilled not just in their practice but also in coaching. But instead of just taking my word, I think the best evidence is simply the number of students that have been coming to this studio for 10, 15+ years. I can't imagine many other studios and teachers have that kind of track record. It's a special place with special people. P.S. the massages offered there are incredible too. A perfect pairing!

There is a wide array of classes, such as yoga, pilates-focus, meditation, salsa. There are various styles of yoga, such as hot, standard, restorative, etc. There are several different instructors and they are all excellent and they all know what they are doing. The owner Maria, is a sweetheart with a good sense of humor and a gentle spirit. The schedule is very flexible as there are classes during the day, evening, and several on Saturday morning. It's a very friendly place as the instructors usually introduce all the new members. Classes are usually small and it's a very nicely appointed and pretty room. There are mats, weights, blankets, exercise balls and other props and always enough for everyone. They offer different workshops from time-to-time. They also offer additional services such as Reiki, nutrition and Foot Reflexology. It's a great place.

From my personal…read moreexperience, I learned that my Pilates instructor was wrongfully terminated following an incident with another member named Ed Pacelli. During a class, Ed made an extremely inappropriate, racially charged "joke" about hanging African American people directed toward our African American instructor. His own wife tried to stop him, left the room embarrassed, and he still went ahead with it. What disturbed me even more was how the situation was handled. Instead of supporting the instructor who simply asked for him to be removed from her class because of how unsafe and uncomfortable the comment made her feel management chose to side with Ed, reportedly because he's been a member for six years. From my point of view, that choice spoke volumes. As a minority woman, I cannot support a place where staff and clients of color can be exposed to racist comments and then left unprotected. In today's political climate, where safety and respect should be the bare minimum, it's heartbreaking to see an establishment so willing to turn a blind eye. I refuse to spend my time or money somewhere that tolerates behavior like this.

I arrived there with a nice welcome on their sign on the front desk. Great way to make me feel welcomed. My class as a one on one with Sam. She is a very nice, dedicated trainer that knows how to work your muscles. I was given a diverse introduction to Pilates on the reformer. Onto to their Covid protocol. When you enter the practice, you are greeted by a very friendly person at the desk that takes your temperature. Everyone in the entry vestibule wears a mask. The private room in the basement doesn't require you to wear a mask, but your trainer will keep his/hers on. In the group rooms, you will see plastic "shower curtain" dividers between each reformer. There is a UV room cleaner that goes on after the class and I was told there is a 30 minute delay between classes to clean the reformers. So if you're interested in reformer Pilates, this place is a good place to check out.

I started practicing yoga 2 and half years ago in Sparta and tried half dozen of different places from one in Whippany to Wantage to Roxbury, etc. I am so glad to find this place and settled myself to practice yoga on a daily basis. I like all of the instructors in this place. The owner, Dana is very knowledgeable instructor for her class and very considerate to students. I also love challenging Claudia's class which sometimes reminds me of "boot camp" style. :) The fairly new instructor Laura's teaching style, the Ashitanga Vinyasa style is fasnating, too. I always wanted to learn to practice that style of yoga ever since I started yoga. I also love Lauren's class and Amanda's. They are all very professional and knowledgeable. We enrolled our daughter in classes after reading so many wonderful reviews about this school. We…read morewere excited to meet the staff and see what our daughter would be doing, as we had in other schools that she had been in. After being delayed for 4 weeks due to construction, and then being told the week before the school had actually moved, we arrived to a new building with no little to no parking and no signs saying where the school was. When we finally found it, we were greeted with a mask mandate that wasn't communicated, and a room that was a quarter of the size of their old space. These things we could deal with. It was what followed that completely soured our opinion of the school. The man at the entrance simply told about the masking and then told us that we could leave and didn't have to stick around. While he was polite, we were confused. In other schools, we more than welcome to wait and watch our daughter enjoy her class. When we told him we wanted to wait, he got annoyed and immediately got the owner. When she approached us she explained that they don't allow the parents to wait and that we should use this as "free time" and that we could come back five minutes before class ended to watch. She then basically pushed us out of the building. This wasn't communicated before hand, so our daughter was upset by this. Once we assured her we were just outside, we left to find other parents waiting in the parking lot just as confused and irritated as us. One parent went back in to complain, and instead of being gracious and helping we later heard the headmistress aggressively complaining to her staff about the parent, fully in front of the children they were supposed to be teaching. When we went back to watch, the instructors were already cleaning up and the headmistress had to tell the instructor to go back and show us what they had taught our daughter. We were greeted with a 5 minute stretching session that showed us nothing that our daughter didn't already know before going into the class. Between this all this, the complete lack of communication on the staff's part and the fact that the classes are 30 minutes long, which is half the time other dance studios are offering at twice the price, this studio does not hold its value at all.
