During the onboarding process I felt like I was also spoken to like a child, and I was cut 0 slack even though I was a brand new employee who had never used any of the technology they use before or been in an ABA setting. I was also "let go" very abruptly, and the reasoning did not even remotely line up with the handbook policies. I was given nothing but positive praise from everyone but my supervisor, who I never actually met in person, and who never actually supervised any of the work I did. The company does not allow for mess-ups as you adjust to the work-flow, and leaving a session for a family emergency (like, hospital emergency) after being told it was ok literally resulted in 1/2 (I think?) of my termination. Again, super unclear why I was fired. I really enjoyed the family I worked with and a lot of the people I met, but my supervisor was the least professional and least understanding boss I've ever had - to a shocking degree.

I was initially taken aback by the entry of the shop. They had a coffee shop and a large sitting area. I also saw stairs, so I assumed this would be a multi-level thrifting experience. We moseyed around the area just past the coffee shop and found lots and lots of glassware. Dare I say too much glassware? The linens and trinkets sections were disheveled with a handful of visibly broken items sitting on the shelves. The main area of the shop was more visually pleasing and was a bit more organized, but we remained underwhelmed. The biggest disappointment, however, was that the upstairs was restricted to employee access only. We were so disappointed that there weren't more thrifty treasures to be uncovered. The exterior of this shop was deceiving as we thought it would be massive, but it was actually quite small. Bummer!

I have on video, a security guard who threatened to throw those court documents out into the trash along with sentimental items that were left for my loved one that have in the past comforted him. These items are what remain of his deceased parents and include his grandmothers urn. It is safe and secure with security guard and strict clearance for visitors. My friend has been staying there for three months since having the worst summer ever. Now she has opportunity to be surrounded by a caring, professional community conducive to her recovery and stabilization. She has a healthy daily routine that includes medication management, Bible study, counseling, meals, and on campus work. I highly recommend Phoenix Rescue Mission Changing Lives Center for women.

Appreciate the lockers for my personal belongings at the presentation area. The rest of the steps and assembly lines were just the way I remembered it. We arrived about 15 minutes prior to our 9am shift and there were several groups there as well. We were brought into the large room where the market is located (more in a moment on this) and found lockers to lock our things up (you can't wear hoop earrings, rings, necklaces, etc.). They give you small plastic baggies to put your stuff in; you are also required to wear a hair net and men with facial hair was also required to wear a beard net. We watched a couple of videos that explained what we would be packing and where it was shipped to as well as specifics for the actual packing station. It is so rewarding to know that these Mano Packs are shipped to countries where children suffer greatly from malnutrition. At the end they actually give you a sample of what we packed. It was like a savory oatmeal and included rice, protein, a mixture of dehydrated veggies and a scoop of powdered vitamins and nutrients. It was good actually. We were at a packing station with some others including children and once everyone decided on which job we wanted to do, after a few minutes and bags, we found our packing rhythm. They have a very precise method to the packing of these meal bags and with music, cheering, etc...the two hours flew by! If you are looking for a meaningful volunteer opportunity, check them out. We are going back for a second time and I think we'll make this one of our regular volunteer opportunities. Staff working is great and helpful and so passionate about the work they are doing! The marketplace includes crafts made by the people of the different villages around the world. We learned that not only are the families given food packets but they are also signed up for resources and employment opportunities and everything else in an effort to make their lives better. The marketplace is amazing!

Our Church, God's Glory Apostolic Church International, provides a food pantry service for the local community, and we partner Midwest Food Bank for food and hygiene items for individuals and families in need. We often run out of everything within hours of receiving things because of these valuable goods that really help the community.

Their mission is to alleviate hunger and malnutrition locally and throughout the world and provide disaster relief. It is a great place for groups, families and individuals to come and volunteer at. Sign up is easy and they have daily shifts available to help pack and organize food boxes in their warehouse. They make it simple to find a shift that works best for your schedule. When you arrive and check in, Midwest Food Bank shows a video about the organization and explains how food will be packaged. Volunteers are then assigned to different stations. Because you are working with food, hand washing is required and so is wearing a hair net (they provide them). The staff here at Midwest Food Bank is great and they making volunteering fun. It is a great place to bring your kids too! Midwest Food Bank currently distributes nearly $40 million worth of food to over 2,200 non-profit organizations each month.
