I did notice a white-haired staff member oddly staring at me as I left the cookie aisle with a handful of previously purchased items (& a receipt in 1 hand). It likely took her a second to remember NJ's newly instated bag ban, lol.

Today I decided to wait and see what the deal was, the guy showed up at 9:20, so I get out of my car to go to the door the doors locked and the worker is nowhere to be found. I waited around for another 20 minutes! 9:45 I called from outside the store and no answer. Lack of professionalism by the workers there. Also whenever I have gone in there, I have been working out for 10 years and the staff can't take no for an answer. They push 20 products on me that I know I don't need. I have stopped shopping at GNC because of prices and the pushy workers.

Though not exclusive to this Aldi location, this supply/demand problem is particularly aggravating in the early evening, when many customers do their after-work grocery shopping. There are three checkout lanes, but usually only one cash register is staffed. A second checkout lane will open up only when customers in line are spilling out into the aisles. The single-occupancy restrooms behind the bottled water pallets are surprisingly clean, probably because people forget that they're there.

Honestly, I don't imagine Cookies N' Creme is way mind-blowingly different than half-and-halfing vanilla x chocolate, or even eating the "Lightly Sweetened Unflavored" straight. Cookies N' Creme just sounds cooler. Remember the Hershey's Cookies 'n' Creme bar? Remember Cookie Crisp cereal? Remember bowlfuls of mini actual chocolate chip cookies in milk? Well, we're being healthy now. So it's protein instead.

Housed in the abandoned space of a former ACME in Oak Park Commons, South Plainfield's newly opened…read more(or rather re-opened) ALDI on December 10, 2020 welcomed customers after shuttering its previous location on December 7. In addition to having a much larger, newer space, the store also now has access to the enormous parking lot shared by the surrounding businesses. Due to its traditionally smaller footprint, this ALDI only takes up a fraction of the space occupied by the previous tenant. Most of the personnel and the inventory from the old location have moved over to the new location, which is directly across the street from competitor ShopRite. All store practices, including quarter-operated shopping carts and pandemic-related safety measures such as fiberglass shields at checkout, remain in place in the new location. The layout of the new store is similar to the layouts at the Piscataway and Edison locations, with the biggest difference being the produce area. On opening day, this store dealt with the influx of customers the same way it does on any day: one cashier for every several dozen customers. If you're new to the ALDI experience, you might wonder why the other three checkout aisles event exist if there's no one to man them. Fortunately, the staff here are all veterans who know when to jump in when necessary. The choice to position a grocery store directly opposite Golden Acres Shopping Center, where the Wendy's and ShopRite currently are, has historically caused some friction resulting in casualties, usually on the Oak Park Commons side (as attested by this location's failed predecessors A&P and ACME). Since ALDI's Piscataway store has been successfully operating in close proximity to the ShopRite on Centennial for many years now, there's no reason to think that this particular store won't also flourish--though a price war seems imminent at this point.
