We returned to Sonoma in 2026 with a small group and booked another tour. Booking and communication was a breeze. Very good. Ends up the property I rented offered a wine passport and we were to receive a discount. I called to confirm and they let me know the driver would apply the discount when we paid him the day of the tour. All sounded wonderful and was very clearly communicated. The tour in 2026 only went to 3 wineries. Two were just ok and one was not good. I don't think anyone on our tour purchased anything here. The time at each winery was like a typical tasting with some information on their winery. But no real information on Sonoma and Napa and the history of the area. At the end our driver had no clue on our discount and kept telling me he would get in trouble for charging me less. He insinuated I was making it all up. In the end he did honor the discount but seemed he did it as a favor not that it was a program that Platypus participates in. All in all I was disappointed in this wine tour and would no go on a platypus tour again and would not recommend them. Maybe we just caught them on a bad day. Luckily all the people on our tour were delightful so that made for a nice day.

There is a reason that I always look to Napa Valley Wine Guides as my first choice in Napa wine…read moretours. Actually, there are many reasons. Reason #1: Geoffrey and Sarah know their wine and make amazing wine recommendations, including places that won't taste publically unless you have an introduction. Geoffrey and Sarah are that introduction. Reason #2: These folks treat you like guests in their home. They make sure that you never open a car door. They make sure you are fully hydrated. They make you feel at home. Reason #3: Geoffrey and Sarah know more than wine...they know food. Whether you want a Napa style picnic lunch or recommendations for dinner anywhere in the valley, they can guide you to good eats. Reason #4: When they are booked in advance and can't fit you in, they give you a solid recommendation for another service. We were so disappointed that the secret is out and others are using Napa Valley Wine Guides. However, they made sure that we were given the name of another tour service that would treat us well. Did they? They did and we'll still be using Napa Valley Wine Guides as our first stop. Reason #5: Based on all of my experiences with Napa Valley Wine Guides, I am completely comfortable recommending them to everyone I know. I have sent friends their way and never worry about the experience. Thank you, Geoffrey and Sarah, for great service year after year.

She picked us up at our hotel right on time and was super professional and organized and not to mention hilarious. I didn't even have to lift a finger to book appointments or prep for anything because she made sure that every need that we had was fulfilled. We literally got picked up right at our hotel and was shuttled off to wine nirvana. Additionally, these guys really know their stuff and brought us to some cool, smaller vineyards for quality wines at very reasonable prices (Robert Biale, Madrigal, Frank Family, Frias) More importantly they know how to avoid annoying crowds so that we didn't have to interact with Bentley limos piled 18 deep with living and screaming Barbie dolls and penis garlands (no joke, we really did see this, and the poor driver looked like he wanted to kill himself) I love these guys and will absolutely use their services every time I'm up in the area. Also, just a heads up, they now have a Sonoma guide service as well. Best Napa service ever!

A bucket list check for sure and I'm genuinely glad I can say I did it. But once was enough…read more The Vista Dome Lunch includes a three course meal, dessert and a glass of champagne which sounds like everything Napa represents. The experience is unique and the train itself is a novelty worth appreciating at least once. Service was funny, quick and very informative , telling us about the area, they did a wonderful job handling our large party. However when I think Napa I think wine tasting hopping between venues, exploring different wineries and really immersing yourself in what the valley has to offer. So make time to do both! The Wine Train doesn't quite deliver that and the views from the dome were honestly just okay. For the price point I think the better Napa experience is booking a private driver and hitting multiple venues at your own pace. You get more wine, more variety and a fuller picture of what Napa actually is. No regrets! just a one and done for me.

But its absolutely worth the money and if you can find a big enough group to book tickets with even better. The staff is fun and knowledgeable. I appreciated the history given during the tour. It was a gloomy rainy day but I still enjoyed myself. First off the lobby area is great, check in is smooth and they have a cool 360 operator that you can take videos on! The food is upscale and could use seasoning in my opinion. But still good. You get 4 courses. Breakfast, Dinner (refer to pic of menu), a cheese course, and a Dessert course. Look - Beef or Chicken- delicious- you cant go wrong and pick the creme brulee as Dessert. If you drink wine (and i mean DRINK WINE) you will absolutely get the bang for your buck. But if youre just there for vibes maybe spring for the lesser price ticket. We stopped at 2 wineries. The last had an Italian market with snacks and sandwiches. The tours itself were informative but wouldnt say fun. Personally wish they had a later start time. The check in starts at 945a and we were done by 4:30p. I feel like my group was tired and took us a minute to get into it. It also rained. But didnt stop our group from dancing in it and the employees joined in which was amazing!! Special shout out to Nick and Alicia. They made the experience one to remember. Looking forward to coming back on a Sunny day!

There were 11 of us, and from start to finish, we truly felt like we were in the best hands. Jeff was incredibly kind, helpful, and responsive throughout the entire process. His level of hospitality was exceptional, and he made coordinating transportation for our group so easy. On our first day, we had Glenn as our driver, and he was absolutely wonderful! He was so sweet, personable, and welcoming. From the moment he picked us up at our Airbnb, he gave us a little tour of the area and shared things with us along the way to our first winery. By the end of the day, Glenn genuinely felt like part of the party! On day two, Jeff was our driver, and it was so nice to finally meet him in person after communicating with him beforehand. He was just as kind and hospitable in person, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. I'm extremely grateful to both Jeff and Glenn for taking such great care of us throughout the weekend. Having reliable, friendly transportation made our Napa trip that much more enjoyable and allowed all of us to relax and have fun without worrying about a thing. 10/10 experience! I would absolutely contact Napa Wine Tour Guides again if I return to the area and would happily recommend them to anyone looking for transportation for a Napa wine trip. Thank you, Jeff and Glenn, for helping make Stephanie's bachelorette weekend so memorable!
