This is a black winery and the Napa California area we were greeted with the smile and friendly presents by the hostess. The owners were also on duty and provided lots of casual conversation to make our visit more pleasant. There is indoor and outdoor wine tasting sitting areas and, calm ambience. The hostess and the owner explained everything and the tastings and constantly checked in on us and provided us what a small charcuterie plate between tastings. The tasting was not expensive for the amount of wine that you are receiving. I will definitely come here again because of the pleasant, customer service by the owners and the hostess. We had a Saturday afternoon reservation to do a tasting for two at J Moss. This was our second stop on our black-owned winery adventure, and it was a great experience. We were warmly greeted; first by other guests, then by the owner and his wife, and finally with a personalized tasting menu that had our names printed on it. It was an excellent tasting experience, and we were given a plate of different crackers, breads, nuts, and brownie brittle to use when tasting the different wines. After tasting, we were invited back into the production area where Mr. Moss explained his process and showed us one of the wine cellars . He is very open about his process of getting into winemaking and sharing the lessons he's learned along the way. He also was willing to give us some suggestions for good places to eat in the area. An interesting fact we learned is that in Napa wineries must own 10 continuous acres in order for their tasting room to also be on their property. This is why the J Moss tasting room is not on the land where they grow the grapes. However, Mr. Moss is a smart businessman; he owns and operates every part of his own production process. read more

My husband took me here for our anniversary. We had the option of sitting outside in the gorgeous courtyard or inside with ac and tv. They had a customized booklet with our names wishing us a happy anniversary. I thought that were such a sweet special touch. We were even brought complimentary nuts and crackers. I LOVED the wines We bought 3 bottles. James was very informative, kind and showed such great hospitality. It felt like I was visiting a family member that happened to be a sommelier. We went to J. Moss Winery for our annual Book Club Trip. We were set up in the garden, the weather was phenomenal for an out door wine tasting. The Owner J. Moss welcomed us with a charcuterie of crackers, brownie bites, etc and a variety of six wines to taste. He provided the history of their winery. I signed up for a wine tasting the day before on their website and James was nice enough to call me back and schedule the tasting over the phone.The tastings are $35 per person and include at least 3+ wines and a tour of their production facility. James and Janet made the entire experience feel very welcoming and educational. Their wines are great and award winning. Because of Covid now, tastings are done outside on their patio area. In the future, I hope that their website booking is more seamless or they put their availability on CellarPass for people to book exclusively online. read more

We went to J Moss yesterday for wine tasting. The ambiance and tasting environment was great. They wine selection was extensive, interesting and informative. My preferences are red wines, but the rose, Chardonnay and Moscato are challenging my preferences. I was surprised to have the menu customized with our names, but not as surprised with the quality of the Cabernets that we tasted. The red wines were each well aged with a perfect blend of fruit and tannins. Loved the Coombsvillle cab is delicious. Joined the club - so I will be back. read more

The wine tasting experience was very nice. Even got a tour inside the winery which was an unexpected pleasant surprise. The wine connoisseur who gave us the tasting was very knowledgeable and a great learning experience. The wines were very much tasty and the atmosphere of the place was very relaxing. However, if you plan to purchase wine DO NOT have them delivered. Please take them with you. We paid 30 for shipping and was assured that the wine would be delivered with the utmost care. That was simply not the case at all. The wine was left in 100+ degree weather for hours because the delivery person not only faked a signature but left the bottles in the doorstep. This may not be the wineries fault but we paid through them and have not been able to get into contact with anyone about it. Over 100 dollars in wine WASTED. Outside of that I definitely recommend for tasting just purchase and ship at your own expense. read more
