The service is good and nice, very calming in the room. And when I ordered Chicken fried steak and eggs, it was good. When I start to dig into the fried steak it was good but afterward about 30 mins when we left, I felt a little sick and threw up 10 mins after of done eating. Would not recommend eating the chicken fried steak and I do not know if I got sick because of it or not? Would not recommend getting the steak. We were visiting the area and decided to stop in and try this little place. It took over 15 mins to be seated and they were not even busy inside. Open tables everywhere. We were seated and waited about 10 mins for our drink order to be taken from a young guy not even our waitress. Our waitress finally made her way over to us and said she would be right back to take our order. She proceeded to go over and take orders from 2 other tables that were seated after us. She did finally take our order and we waited and waited for our food. Meanwhile at least 3 tables that we could see were already getting their food that were seated after us. The waitress finally came up to us and was completely rude to us when we ask what was taking so long. Instead of apologizing, She asked if we ever worked in a restaurant before! She didn't need to even argue with us about how slow it was taking. That wasn't our problem and she knew they were in the wrong. Unprofessional and very rude. We ended up after that walking out before our breakfast came out. She made us feel very uncomfortable. Beautiful weekend in southeastern Pennsylvania, and perfect for a drive in the country over hill and dale. We first headed west on the PA Turnpike, and then north on Rt. 476, the Northeast Extension to Route 63. Then through Harleysville, Green Springs and finally, Pennsburg; to our destination, The Valley Cafe. About 60 miles door to door. The rolling hills, farms and forests were peacefully resting in the comfortable heat of the day. Plenty of 19th Century farmsteads and even older stone houses that held the secret lives of so many generations. It was idyllic; almost a fully sensate daydream. The Cafe was nearly full when we arrive around 12:30. We were led to a table in the larger dining room and handed menus and Specials sheet. We ordered coffee with milk to start. Surprisingly, that translated into two separate requests here - coffee and milk. We only wanted milk to lighten the coffee, and explained that to the server who seemed confused that we hadn't asked for "creamers." Straightened out, he took one glass back and left us with the other to share. Breakfast consisted of Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs for me, and Southwest Scramble for the son. Mine was very good - with real beef, breadcrumbs the size of my hand nicely pan fried, and two over easy eggs on top, slowly oozing their golden yolks into the crisp breaded meat beneath. The home fries and rye toast were good accoutrements, but lost in the richness of the main components. My son was disappointed in his plate. Although there was plenty of egg, cheese, onion, green pepper and potato scrambled for consumption, there was really nothing "southwestern" about it. No jalapeños. No red chilies. No chili powder. Just a tiny plastic cup of salsa; inadequate to provide spiciness. He ate what he could, but left an unusual amount untouched. I gave him a chunk of my CFS to compensate which he liked. Service was fine for a busy Sunday. The place is extremely popular with lots of turnover and families/groups of friends socializing over breakfast, brunch and lunch. No doubt, well deserved. Our score with one success and one fail was what it was. We loved the trip, but would not make The Valley Cafe our destination again. 3.5 STARS read more

I still love Valley Cafe but my last few meals have been somewhat disappointing. We normally do breakfast and I should note that over the past year it's been takeout. I used to rave about the omlettes and how they're filled with great stuff. The were almost burrito-like. Lately the eggs have been kind of grey and the omlettes...flat. Sides seem to have shrunk considerably as well though. A side of bacon is $3.95 and twice in a row now that has equated to 2.5 slices of bacon. Not sure if prices just went up that much but it's a sad sight when you open up the container and there is barely anything in it. My kids still love the pancakes though. They seem busy again so I hoping they turn around because it really is a great spot. read more

The Valley Cafe is a solid 4. The food is not exotic, but it has a wide variety of good, simple American foods and everything we had was good. Party of 3, the cheeseburger was well liked, the salad was declared delicious and the omelette was well cooked. The decor is simple, but this isn't a place trying to be overly pretentious. The food is okay, nothing to write home about, but it is a simple place with simple food, so one cannot expect anything more. There are two things that drive me (and I'm sure others) crazy..... 1) almost every table wobbles; and 2) the ceiling lights flicker. Management does NOTHING about these two annoying features. It's like they don't want to spend the money to maintain the physical place. One other thing that can be annoying at times: because the tables are so close together and because patrons here know other diners as it's a small town, people will stop to say hello at a table and then stand there for a long time chatting, thereby standing almost next to your table while you are eating. I'm going to rate this establishment on the whole dinning experience. Okay here we go...the food is okay and is what you would expect from a small diner, so nothing on either end of the spectrum, just somewhere in the middle. It is clean & the service is good, but the place is rather cramped and often crowded, so if you're looking for a more personal experience (like me) and the perfect atmosphere and to have a private conversation while you are dinning, this isn't the place - if that's the case you're probably better off to eat here when you're alone. Yes, I get this is only a small local no frills diner, but I still like to have a conversation without other people being packed in so close as they can hear your every word unless you whisper and listen they will. One side of the restaurant feels more like a truck stop with counter seating and they're not really accommodating when it comes to customer preference. Love this place for breakfast! So quick and good. Never had anything here I didn't like; I've had omelets, pancakes, breakfast sandwiches and even a tuna melt. All were good. The only thing I hate is there is no waiting area so in the winter it's hard to go there since you have to wait outside for a table! My family and I went in there this morning around 9:00. We stood there to be seated while waitresses, the manager, the cashier, 2 bus people just looked at us. A very nice friendly waitress seated us and took our drink order. The same lady took our food order. Food came out in a prompt manner. The waitress came back one time to see if we needed any thing. Two other times a bus person came by to remove dishes and we asked her for to go boxes. The bus girl was not friendly at all. You're manager looks absolutely miserable! The food was great. The Valley Cafe is a popular local breakfast and brunch spot. At the end of the day, this is your local diner. While I generally eat breakfast over in Quakertown, I come to the Valley Cafe during the week, when I can get seated (yes weekends are tough), when I am over in this direction, or when I just need to get my scrapple and cream chipped beef fix (or sausage gravy), which my normal place does not serve. The Valley Cafe is clean, the service very friendly, and the scrapple and SOS perfect for me both in taste and portion size. Even with the number of diners in the region high, I think that the Valley Cafe will be here. They have a great following. read more

It's a dirty little hole in the wall dump where cooks go to die food is so bland. French toast is just egg and bread , s.o.s taste like rue(butter and flour) no flavor at all same with sausage gravy. Ok so the minute you walk into this quaint little cafe you feel a small town family atmosphere, however trapped inside a typical strip center found along any 4 lane highways in the US. But oddly the menu and service reminds me of a small cafe I've visited in San Francisco, where the "breakfast" has some very decadent offerings of waffles and pancakes not found in your typical diner. The omelets are packed full of your selected fillings and the cooks pay very close attention to detail. I must say the yelp reviews that led me to pull out of a local quakertown diner, were spot on and I'm glad I did. The prices was also local in point, and certainly were not in San Francisco dollars! Came here for lunch with my aunt and uncle who live in the area. I wasn't expecting much with the lack of food options around here, but I was really pleased with this place. It's a typical breakfast and lunch spot with a lot of options on the menu. I ordered the chicken cheesesteak, which was so good! A lot of times the roll can make or break the sandwich, this roll was delicious and tasted very fresh. You can tell this is a very local place and everyone here was super friendly. My husband and I discovered the Valley Cafe last summer when we moved to the area. During our first visit the food was excellent and the service wasn't bad. The owner was there and stopped at our table and was very pleasant. With each visit the food has been excellent, and if it weren't for the decline in service this would be a five star review. Every time we are there, no matter how busy, the wait time to be seated at a table and the wait time for the food is a little unreasonable. During our last visit we each ordered wraps and waited close to 45 minutes. The waitress never seems to be bothered with the wait time, so maybe this is the norm. If you're looking for delicious food and have no time restrictions, I would recommend the Valley Cafe. If the staff could become more organized this would always be our go to for breakfast or lunch. read more

It was a frigid Friday and snow gracefully decorated my red locks of hair as I entered into the Valley Cafe for an early lunch. I was excited to see the special was fish and chips so I ordered a Barbeque Cheddar Burger with french fries. Much to my surprise when my friendly waitress flew out of the kitchen minutes later with my order and a smile. As I ravished my plate of food, the owners came over and introduced themselves and engaged in friendly conversation. While my waitress was busy, others came over to ensure I was alright. To be fair, the salad I had at Valley Café was well prepared and generously sized. The place is inviting and the service attentive. But it holds the promise of something more: from its appearance, it looks like it should be one of those new midscale-casual brunch places with really good coffee, slightly elevated prices but at least a dozen creative things on the menu. You know what I'm talking about: the sort of fashionably off-kilter places that have lines out the door on weekend mornings. They're popping up like mushrooms because everyone loves a casual-chic breakfast now and then. And that's where Valley Café disappoints. It looks like it should offer an asparagus strata or a pumpernickel pancake. But really it's just standard Sesame Street family fare that happens to close at 2pm most days. The menu is large and completely run-of-the-mill. Coffee is potable but nothing remarkable. And yet the prices are generally on par with the aforementioned. While you the consumer can do better, what's more important is that Valley Café--which does everything just fine--can probably do better too. Which would probably help it compete with Average Joe's Flapjacks or Quentin's Quirky Kitchen...whichever one it decides to be. read more

We ate here while visiting for a baseball tournament. The owner happen to be eating at the table next us and made a point to ask how our son's team was doing and wish him luck. There was plenty of casual, clean seating and the practicality no waiting for service. The was good and the price was right and the friendliness continued with everyone we talked to ( waitress & cashier). We went to this restaurant on Mother's Day 2014. We sat and mentioned that our son had a food allergy. The kitchen staff told our waitress, the owner's daughter, that they were too backed up and couldn't accommodate us. When the owner came over at our request, he agreed with the kitchen staff and simple asked "Can't he eat something else?" We finished our food and left. We tipped our waitress who was surprised at her father's response to us. We have not been back since that day. read more

I can't say enough good things about this tiny cafe and it's super friendly staff. It's a popular Sunday morning (after church) spot because the breakfast is so delicious and fast. Their hollandaise sauce is fantastic and they are always willing to swap out crispy bacon for the typical Canadian bacon (yuck). Our return visit for breakfast confirmed our past experiences here. The restaurant is well lighted, clean, and cheery. Brandy, our server was most pleasant, efficient, and professional. The food for breakfast can be best described as "okay," nothing distinctive about anything on the menu. They serve typical diner fare down to the usual frozen potatoes that have been thawed, reheated and served. We would go out of our way for good, in-house prepared potatoes.
