Ordered pizzas, wings, milk shakes *vanilla and cookies shake, kids pizza meals (came with a drink). EVERYTHING WAS FABULOUS! SERVICE: our server was great, zero complaints. Food came out quickly! AMBIANCE: 9:45 movie and the huge theater was quiet. In all- twas a great experience. Would definitely come back if we return.

This was my husband and I's first time at Alamo so we didn't know what to expect. Back home in SoCal I had been to a few in-service movie theaters and in all honesty those ones were much better. To start off with the good, the theater is very big and looks to be brand new. It is the only establishment in the lot except for a McDonald's and a gas station so I'm assuming it was recently opened. The theater was nice and open, they also kept the temperature at a good spot unlike other theaters who will literally freeze you while you watch a movie. Our server was good, at least the first one that came to introduce himself and ask if it was our first time. I think they have a crew that just delivers food or comes around to check on you cause I kept seeing different people every time something was dropped off. Now for the food... honestly it was disappointing. The only positive I can say is that the loaded fries were good. Both my husband and I enjoyed those. But that's where the good ended. I ordered the watermelon margarita for myself and unfortunately had to send it back due to it being extremely salty! I asked for water instead, which I stuck with for the duration of the movie. My husband ordered the bbq chicken pizza, which he says wasn't too bad. I did have a few bites and really don't think it was worth the hefty $16 price. It didn't really taste like bbq chicken to me, I can't put my finger on it but something tasted off. I got the ribeye tacos and they were very salty. Not only that but the meat was really dry as well with almost no other toppings. The chips and salsa that came with my meal didn't really help either. The chips were super salty and the salsa just didn't taste good at all. I see a running theme at this theater for having salty food. So take that with a grain of salt (pun intended). One thing I do have to say is that despite only taking a sip or two of my watermelon margarita and sending it back for a glass of water, it appears we were still charged for the drink. Unfortunately my husband didn't check the bill and also didn't mention anything until we got home but I think we were overcharged on our bill. I totaled everything and it should have been around $51 but my husband said he paid over $80 including tip. I don't think he would have tipped $30 so I believe we were charged incorrectly. Another reason why their rating is so low. Overall I don't know if I would ever come back here. The theater is nice, big and new - but the lack of flavor in their food and drinks as well as overcharging by what I consider a big amount on our bill. I just can't recommend Alamo Drafthouse. I think going to Cinemark and just getting a popcorn and candy would have been a better bet.

You know, it's crazy... I've taken classes inside the Cinema and I've even attended events, but…read moreI've never watched a movie here (which they do show movies here weekly for the cheaps). One day. It's no Alamo Drafthouse, but the seats are comfy and they all have those slidy desks that are way to tiny for note taking, but ideal for holding popcorn and drinks. Based off of the projector that they use during the classes, it's pretty big so if you went for movie reasons I think any seat would be fine (but towards the front would be ideal). The Cinema doesn't offer food per se, but you're super close to a lot of food options (Pizza Hut, the cafeteria, Chick-fil-A, etc. etc.) and as far as I know you can take food and drinks in there. If you're wondering about parking, pay the couple of bucks and park at the parking garage. Every time I've gone for an event that's specifically in the Cinema, they usually offer free parking in the garage anyway (I don't think they do that for the movies though).

It's such an unique experience to have a meal and watch live theater in one night. It really brings a nostalgia kinda feel and you can really experience what life was like before film. I'll admit the food is not the very best you can get but it's also not the worse. You usually get a 3 course meal, complete with dessert and coffee. I've been to the dinner theater for a couple of shows and the food has been good, usually a classic chicken and potatoes kinda meal. The dessert those past time was an exquisite chocolate cake. All food is served on UTEP embossed china, which is a nice little. detail touch. Then there is the seating in which you can really meet some interesting people! All tables seat 4 so if you're a group of 2, you'll be sitting with 2 others you may not know. This may make some hesitant but it's actually a nice little treat to the night. I've never gone and not have great conversations with fellow dinner guests. The theater cast is always great and well deserving of a house, standing ovation! Lés Miserablés was the latest show I saw and the entire production was superb. I actually sat in one of the front tables (a first) and it totally changed the experience with me really feeling like I was actually in the show!! haha I can't wait till I have time between semesters to return!

Such a cool concept, comedy at a venue near you!…read more Laughterhours Comedy puts on El Paso's largest comedy competition too and overall this years was a huge hit (so much so that I don't think they were actually prepared for how much interest there would be). Next year I expect that they'll use larger venues for the shows because two of the venues were at capacity (possibly over capacity...but you didn't hear that here). But when they're not putting on El Paso's Funniest Comedy Competition, they have weekly shows and hook-up with a few other comedy groups in the area to put on open-mics, writing shops, and more shows. There are more aspiring comedians in EP and the surrounding area than one would suspect. Check out their Facebook to stay up to date on shows and definitely catch one. Sure you're gonna see some newbies up on the stage that are trying to figure out what works and what doesn't, but there will also be seasoned vets that will have you laughing your ass off. My two fave comedians in this group are actually the faces of Laughterhours, Gibbs (the owner) and Adam. Prior to working with Laughterhours, Adam actually won EPFCC so that's saying something. And Gibbs also known as the Comagician does a show that's a cross between a magic show and a comedy show. Somehow it works when he does it...although I will say, he's a better comedian than a magician. I've caught Laughterhour shows at places like The Network, Leo's, Shamrocks, and even the Comic Strip. And tickets are usually cheap (or free if it's an open mic)! Look 'em up, it's bond to be a great night!

We can do trivia without an unfunny comedian. All this guy did was put homemade memes up and do historical trivia. He started off with cracking jokes on the military...at a military event. We've got no problem laughing at ourselves but cracking jokes that military can't spell and are stupid when the majority of the room has at least masters degrees? Making jokes that our "butts clenched up" when he mentioned that we were prepping for deployments? Half the audience walked out. Apparently this guy forgot the first rule of public speaking is knowing your audience. He was a broken record marketing his comedy club. I wouldn't go if he paid me to. Watching paint dry might be more entertaining.

It's a little tricky going uphill in the structure. But once you get to the floor where you want to park, there is plenty of parking space without feeling crammed ! The Plaza Theater itself is an old building. But it has really interesting architecture, exterior design and interior design that make it very nostalgic ! The ceiling is very celestial , with a heavenly aura :) ! It was my first time seeing a show there :D ! I watched "Mean Girls" the musical on Sat (4/6) for the matinee showing and absolutely it :D ! It really brought back wonderful memories of the original 2004 movie starring Lindsay Lohan and Rachel McAdams :) ! The Broadway cast was absolutely spectacular :D ! I purchased an orchestra seat for myself since I went solo and got to meet and chat with a super nice family sitting next to me who have season tickets to the Plaza :) ! I didn't really try any of the speciality drinks or snacks. But a lot of people were in line for these! I may try these on a future outing to the Plaza because they have some exciting shows and concerts coming up later this year :D ! Thank you for such a fantabulous first time at the Plaza Theater, El Paso Live :D !
