My son had passed a month earlier, and I attempted to mail some sentimental objects to a Colorado friend, who never received them. I WAS NOT told I could get any free insurance on the package, which apparently is common to be given a minimal amount. I DO note the lady who accepted my small box was completely uninterested. Of course I kept the receipt for a long time. Probably still have it on my phone. After a time I was told it hadn't reached its destination. I called the store several times, was given a number to look my package up, not told such number would expire, and they would refuse me another!! I repeatedly tried, at one point being told the package would be returned to ME! It was NOT. I was given several phone numbers to call, none of which were answered, nor returned my messages, to the point when the message mentioned "take our survey" the phone hung up on me!! I even called UPS headquarters, they were so sorry! Somewhere there is a box with a white small Lego Plane, scowling Lego woman on the wing, with "coins" from CAP and a seaplane logo mug. When it's opened on a YT video, which should be illegal!, I alone know the backstory and puns that go with the items! The bitch of it is, I wouldn't have let these things go to anyone else, literally! Thank God I got my payment refund from the credit card!! Trying to repeatedly track a package with such a long list of small numbers was disheartening after my son's death. This place sucks. I never got any recompense at all.

After being questioned for a good 10 minutes on why I was receiving child support money in the form of western union payments I was denied the ability to receive my WU payments with the explanation that they didn't agree with the method of payment. I was then told I needed to bring in proof of where the money I was receiving was coming from (This was for a sum of less than $7k). I instead went to Publix where they gave me my WU payments without question. I do not recommend Amscot for Western Union or money orders

I also learned that you can cash checks here, get money orders etc. While I do have a back account its always good to have options so I even set up an account here in case I ever had to cash a client check. Amscot is a good option even for people who have bank accounts. I imagine most of their business is from people who are not able to get a bank account so this is their only option. The fees are higher than most but if I cash a check at say, Chase I have to pay a fee of $6.00. Here is is 4.45% on hand written checks. Not too bad I guess. I hope I never have to use this service but its just an extra option for me.
