I have MCS - Multiple Chemical Sensitivities and strong synthetic fragrances make me sick. Some of the delivery guys here in Sedona are so drenched in fragrances, the cheap nano-synthetic kind, that you can smell it from a mile. My boxes got all scented to the point I had to let them on the porch for 3 days before I could take them inside the house and open them. That is unacceptable. GREEDY AND UNETHICAL PRACTICE. POSSIBLY ILLEGAL. Not owning a printer, I brought in an email to be printed by the UPS Store for return merchandise. Unbelievably, they charged me $3 + tax for the privilege of printing out the label. I was aghast. There is no other UPS Store that I have ever used, and I have used a lot, that follows this practice. I absolutely will never do business with these pricks again. I kept getting envelopes delivered to my home to a name of someone I don't know. I've lived here for 3 yrs and never heard of this person. I personally took the 3 x missed delivery to the store in person and told them that it's a mistake. The little idiot told me they can't fix it. I want to thank the Manager, Brian, for appropriately handling a series of egregious mistakes. I sent a box of files to a business in Oregon. I handed the clerk the address and put mine in the computer. It arrived on time but at MY door. The recipient's address was nowhere on the label. The store supposedly opens at 7:30, but I waited until 9:45 to be sure. I wanted to clear up the mistake and re-send the box. The only person there was the packer. He tried, but he was woefully under-trained. The manager, Brian, was not reachable by phone. The assistant manager came it at 10, but spent 5 minutes ending a phone call. She clearly didn't want to be there and didn't know how to help me. I was, understandably, frustrated. At one point, she told me I could leave the store. I've been thrown out of bars, but never a UPS store!!!! I was not rude or abusive but insistent. She told me to come back in the afternoon and talk to Brian. On my return, I told Brian who I was; he already knew. The assistant manager had given him an earful, but he recognized that she was at fault. Hopefully, he took this opportunity for a training moment. He was kind and intelligent, apologized, and refunded my money for BOTH purchases, essentially sending the package for free. Finding competent help in Sedona is challenging. If you have a problem at UPS, don't fool around with the short-term, poorly-trained front-line staff. Talk to the Manager! read more

After living in Los Angeles for over 20 years, I thought I was well prepared for any idiotic situation life threw my way. Then I walked into the UPS Store in Sedona, Arizona. My reason for venturing into the store was simple- to pick up package a friend had shipped the UPS Store via UPS. Armed with the tracking number and a message from said friend that read: "Package was just delivered to the UPS Store. I called to let them know you'd be picking it up," I entered the store and was immediately transported into alternate dimension where it was a totally foreign concept that someone would use UPS to ship packages to a UPS Store. After a fruitless search that amounted to the kid behind the counter begrudgingly getting out of his seat to stare at a pile of recently delivered packages for approximately 2.2 to seconds before saying "It ain't here," I returned to my car package-less and feeling like I lost 50 IQ points. Could it have been delivered to a different UPS Store in the area? I called around. No dice. Maybe instead of UPS Store, my friend really meant the Staples a few doors down from the UPS Store? No dice. A few more phone calls and 20 minutes later, I returned to the vortex of idiocracy that is the Sedona UPS Store and said, "I spoke to my friend who sent the package. It was definitely delivered to this location. Can we please take another look?" Instead of acknowledging the possibility that a mistake could have been made, a different UPS Store employee jumped into to say, "We told you, man. We ain't got it" in a tone that made me feel like I was Clark W. Griswold in that scene in Vacation where he gets shaken down by the auto mechanics after he launched the Family Truckster over 50 years across the Arizona desert. Meanwhile, the kid I originally spoke to took a good, hard look at the pile of packages (for at least three seconds this time) before sighing and saying "Don't know what to tell you. It's not here." "The tracking info I have says the package weighs 24 pounds. Any chance you could take a look at that really big box that's under all the others?" I asked with the casual subtly of Ralphie's dad pointing out one last box under the Christmas Tree. With a heavy sigh, the kid summoned all his strength to move an envelope. His lips moved as he read the label. Then, without a hint of apology or embarrassment, he said, "Found it. It's right here." Then the manger chimed in to say there's a $5 package pickup fee. A better thing to say would have been that she's giving me $5 so I can pick out a donut from Sedonuts next door as a token of apology for her team wasting half an hour. read more

Our packages never arrived! This happened on two occasions. Once could be a (stupid) mistake, but twice is a pattern. 1. We sent an item to Amazon as a trade-in, and Amazon never received it. 2. We brought in a few items to ship back home. They said they would pack them for us. Half our things never arrived. They were not in the box and the box was not big enough to fit them to begin with. We called multiple times and none of the stuff can help us. They say they don't have the items, and the manager has been out sick for a month now. I've been in this UPS store twice now since moving to Sedona and both times they've screwed up a simple return to Amazon. How hard is that when all they had to do was scan a return code from Amazon that I provide off my phone. WOW! Then one return I had to make two trips before they got it right. Really!! Then Jenny the assistant so called manager was snippy with me. Don't need her attitude or remarks!!! I've dealt a with UPS in Cottonwood many many times and they know how to handle business and are in the top 10% of UPS stores in the nation. Sedona UPS take some lessons from Cottonwood UPS!!! I attempted to return an Amazon package to this UPS store using a return code. According to the return instructions, "the UPS store will print the label, pack and ship it for free". At the store I was told that, "Amazon doesn't pay us to do that so we just don't". Very frustrating. I called the store later to get more information on why they are not handling returns according to the Amazon/UPS return instructions. The assistant manager (Jenny?) used the same excuse that they aren't employed by Amazon and don't make any money on these returns. When I asked additional questions, the assistant manager was very rude and proceeded to talk over me. This is not a customer-oriented business. I paid paid over $20 for box/packing (not including shipping cost) for a drum with glass top. They packed the glass top on the bottom of the box with no padding and the glass totally shattered into a thousand pieces and the broken glass cut my drum. The owner of the store would not take responsibility and pay the claim for $100 which we were told was the insured amount. read more

I've been working with this UPS Store since 2014 as a mailbox customer both Business and Personal. I ship things occasionally, but receive things all the time, and the team works diligently to problem solve when problems do arrive which is not very often also bearing in mind most of these problems have nothing to do with the local store. As a business owner for a very long time, working with multiple shipping facilities across the entire country both sending and receiving, small items to entire tractor trailers of deliveries . I can tell you that when you ship and receive a lot , on occasion things don't always go as they should. I'd like to back these guys up to help correct some of the bad reviews that are on this site. Sometimes I feel people need to understand that there are certain odds and the shipping industry, and sometimes things happen. These guys have always done their job. This is the most unfriendly UPS store I've ever been to. They just don't care if they help you or not. Here are two specifics: First I went to get a document notarized, which they advertise as available. But "not today!" "Come back tomorrow". Today I went in with a return to Amazon. No charge if I take it in to a UPS store. But, NO! They want a $3 fee to have the label emailed and printed at the store. That is bad enough but the big problem was that the staff didn't care! At the end of a long day, I had to go to UPS to drop off 5 Amazon return packages. Right off the bat, I was having issues with myself. ha ha. I started to question my own cerebral faculties! Luckily, Brian was there to take care of me. Not only patient as ever, he was entirely helpful and gracious in every way possible. I truly mean that. He went way above and beyond typical customer service all along with a pleasant sense of humor. What could have been a tedious and frustrating experience for us both, turned out to be an enjoyable exchange. Brian, as young as he is, is manager level qualified and deserves a raise in my opinion. I went in to get something notarized, the notary said come back tomorrow because he didn't have his book with him... okay. I asked if I could come back the next day, after 4 because that's when I get off work, he said yes. And that he would have his book. So I go back the next day, after 4 and the jerk behind the desk says that notary services end at 2:00. I informed him that I was assured that I could get a notary at that time, he said, sorry. He said that he's notary and that he wouldn't do it. Why was I told to come back the next day, at the same time, only to be told that they can't do it... again? My wife I were on vacation and bought more than we could bring home and decided to ship the majority home. I cannot express how blow away we are by the amazing job they did in making sure the safety of everything we gave them. We had very delicate breakables like poetry, and pint glasses and they handled everything like it was their own. I see all these negative reviews, but I don't get it. I've lived here in Sedona and never had any issues with the UPS store. They are often busy and I have to wait in a line of several people, but come on, it's UPS. Give these people a break. I have literally never had a problem there...and I mostly use them for returns. They have always printed my labels with no problems. The staff is always kind and helpful, just maybe a bit overworked and understaffed? It gets really busy there... Do not go here. I went in to mail a 6x6x6 box standard mail. I do this quite frequently. I know that the price is around $3.50 give or take a few. I also have my post office look up zip codes from time to time. I was told that it would cost me $11.00 to mail out my small box, and the boy...no, no....child, behind the counter told me he couldn't look up a zip code. Bullshit. I brought an expensive painting to be packed and shipped. After they assured me that they would pack the painting well, and charged me $120, I left the package to be shipped. Needless to say, the package arrived and the glass was shattered. All they used was some bubble wrap and peanuts and a flimsy cardboard box to ship a $6000 painting! I sent an email, via UPS General info, to the company. I was contacted within 12 hours via email. Then I was contacted by the shift supervisor, and District Manager within 48 hrs. I was impressed in the timely fashion of the response. Both the Area Supervisor and District Manager listened to my concerns, contacted the employee and expressed their goal was to prevent these situations from reoccurring. I was satisfied with both UPS response, and concern for fixing the issue as to prevent future problems. read more

So, I had a small shoebox sized package that had a UPS return label already on it. I just needed to find a place to drop it off. Located this store on the web, and thought: perfect! Not so. As I was just visiting, I had no stationary supplies with me, and I needed approx. 8" of tape to close the top cover. I asked the clerk if he could put a strip of tape on the top and leave it for the UPS driver. He said that would be $1.00. Really? For 8" of tape and leaving a small package to be picked up with others waiting for the same pick-up? Went over to Staples a few doors down. No hassles, FREE 8" of tape, Scanned in as being dropped off, and set aside for driver pick-up.
