I'm usually dubious of online reviews. People are more apt to rate a business poorly when they had a bad experience- or conversely an absolutely stellar experience, but the threshold for that is way higher. So when I saw the abysmal rating thought "no, that can't be right. I should rate them, and write a review to balance out all the 1-stars." My motivation was bring balance to this flawed process. Now, it's just because I want something to write. I called with what ought to have been a simple question, ie "How much would it cost to overnight a check?" I have the address. I don't have the exact weight. One would imagine that the weight of a standard business sized envelope would be something that any mailroom would be able to ascertain. One would surmise that weighting a sheet of paper might provide the necessary data to complete the relatively simple task of telling me how much something would cost. I can only assume that paper is ample supply. It is an office supply store after all. One would think this would not be an issue. One would be wrong. "I'm sorry, you'd have to come in for me to tell you that." Now to be fair, the woman on the other end was very polite and pleasant. She had a good phone voice, and was easy to deal with. She just wasn't smart enough to figure out how to weigh a sheet of paper. Maybe she was having a bad day. Maybe I'm just an asshole. All that said, who am I kidding? I'm still going to go there next time I have a package that needs to be sent UPS, because it's the most convenient and drop off boxes don't give receipts. read more

If this had been the only time they had been unethical I would have let it go, just taken my business elsewhere, but, it's not. when returning stuff to Amazon they charged me for printing the label to send it back! $5.00 where Amazon clearly says show them the return email with that authorization and they'll box it up, ship it back, at no cost to me. Also I cannot stand for very long due to mobility issues. Prior to the above visit I was making a return but had other customers in front of me. No problem other than they had no chairs for me to sit on, except for three EMPTY chairs at the desk. I asked to use one while I waited, they refused saying they were for employees only and behind the desk. I said they had rollers and I could move it in front of the desk until it was my turn, but again they refused. I know that isn't exactly a business issue but morally seeing someone in distress and refusing them help seems not very nice! I received the worst customer service this morning when dropping off an Amazon return. The young girl was very impatient with me when I was trying to find my code to scan even though she had been talking with another employee upon my arrivial and there were no other customers in the store. She let out a big sigh. It was apparent she was going to make me wait while she pretended to sweep the floor. The walk into the store and arriving back to my car was less than 5 mins. My package was already sealed and labeled and I was in and out in less than 2 minutes, leaving feeling respected and confident that my shipment was in good hands. Today, I went to drop off a package at UPS on 6222 Raytown TRFY, Raytown, MO 64133 and the owner Peggy was helping a black gentleman in front of me. As he had his hand out to receive his change, she placed his change on the counter. Then, she scanned my package and handed me a receipt. Then she said, you will be billed for the price difference since you have an overnight box with a standard shipping label #ScammerAlert. I asked her why she didn't tell me that before she scanned it, she looked at me and she "Oh Well" and walked away. Another lady behind me said they have been complaining about her but since she's independently owned, UPS won't do anything about her unprofessionalism. We CAN NOT continue to let these businesses like this get away with their unprofessionalism by treating customers like crap. Customer Service has left the earth. As long as customers continue to do business with businesses like this, they WILL NOT change how they conduct business. The UPS Store - Peggy GOTTA GO! #boycott - Shipping Centers Near Me - Raytown, Missouri

As many, I work remotely and needed an affidavit notarized that validates my signature. I made an appointment but was refused notarization when I visited the location. Their reasoning was I could not show them the contents of a CONFIDENTIAL REPORT. They are not validating the accuracy of the confidential report, but just that my signature is the one attached to the affidavit. I'm under a contract that prohibits me sharing confidential report contents until it is a public document; they didn't care. I should mention they have notarized similar documents at this location more than 20 times in the past as I have done this type of work since 2006. Sometimes a little control in the wrong hands leads to disruption for others just trying to get their job done. This is NOT the place for businesses to get assistance. I will find another business partner. This location is in Raytown Missouri and the owner was the one that tried to tell me they would never notarize a form this way. My actual experience has been different in the past. Don't waste your time with this location. PS - I quickly found another notary that had no problem notarizing my affidavit signature. read more

I said I really do need it she then started throwing my items that were supposed to be shipped in the box on to the floor and when I asked it to be properly packaged she started getting really aggressive stating "I didn't know that you were this fragile" when I started to cry I have severe PTSD along side of social anxiety so this interaction was really hard for me emotionally. No one should have to deal with this kind of interaction ever!!!! If you want your package to be safe please don't ever choose to bring your package here! I'm very disappointed and saddened that someone can act like this to anyone every other ups store I've been to didn't have a problem with me taking a verification photo and they were always very polite with me. First of all I one didn't ask to take photos of the back nor did I ask to go in the back I simply wanted to take a photo of my package that was still in front of me unsealed for buyers protection, considering the poorly packed item that Peggy assured me she packed safely which was indeed not the case! the fact that Peggy the owner was so rough with my un packaged items I had to file a report so if the items arrive damaged to my customer I will be taking action in small claims court with the evidence that I have. I'd rather companies deal with Fed ex, but some use UPS for returns. I've had to return items here. It's been a little while, and I found I had to send back the old Comcast Modem and Router. I prepared the box for shipment and brought it to the UPS Store. It was a prepaid shipment. God only knows how much it would've cost if it wasn't. I gave the box to the guy behind the counter. I told him it was prepaid. He had me put it on the scales...odd, even with the prepaid label. He didn't say anything, but did eventually give me receipt. I've had worst experiences at this UPS Store. It's near the dreaded DMV, and a dying Mexican restaurant. I always wonder how long this UPS Store will stay at this location. Whatever. It exists, it's there, and serves a purpose. read more

I recently ordered a $1,750.00--and not easy to replace--item from a small business that I know well and trust, and asked that it be sent to The UPS Store in Raytown, Missouri. UPS accepted the package, and I was given a tracking number, which gave me every confidence that the package would be shipped to the location I had specified, given that I am a "UPS My Choice" member and that The UPS Store in Raytown is listed on the UPS website as a delivery option. So far, so good. Yesterday, I checked my e-mail during my lunch break and found an "Exception Notification" from UPS informing me that "The receiver [i.e., The UPS Store] states the product was not ordered and has refused delivery." I tell my boss that I need to take a longer lunch than usual and I drive to The UPS Store. A young man who I assume is the manager (Cody?) treated me not as a customer to be helped, but as someone to be interrogated, which he proceeded to do, telling me why he had refused the package. "Did I have a mailbox there or a pre-existing authorization to ship?" Well, UPS accepted the package with the store as the delivery address. He explained that "The UPS Store(s) and UPS are two different things." I already knew that. UPS stores are independently owned and operated franchises. What I didn't know was that having a valid UPS tracking number is no guarantee that you can get your package at a UPS Store (although I am sure that this is explained somewhere in whatever I "consented" to when I signed up for UPS My Choice). After realizing that the young man had no intention of helping me, I asked him what it would take for me to receive packages there. He recited the requirements: "First, multiple forms of ID"--in a tone of voice suggesting that I might not be able to produce them--"and a fee of $75.00 for three months' service." It was as if I was being challenged at every step for trying to be a customer. I said, "Forget it," and walked out. I should say that UPS itself bears some additional blame for this episode (besides leading me to believe that I could pick up my package in Raytown). After leaving The UPS Store, I tried to login to UPS My Choice to change the delivery address to my house. "Either your username or password are incorrect." Baffling, because I was able to login a couple of weeks ago. Every time I tried to reset my password, the site returned an error message. Bad programming meets bad customer service. I visited this store on Monday to print 4 documents. I used the self-service computer and printed all 4 documents, or so I thought. I looked at the documents and noticed that one of them had only the top portion printed. I talked to the employee and told her what happened and showed her the document that didn't print. I also showed her another document exactly like it so that she could see what should have been printed. I asked her if there was anything she could do, and she told me, no. I then requested the store owner's information, and she gave me a store card that contained their information. Two days later, I called the number on the card and asked to speak with one of the owners, Peggy Sundquist. She came on the line and I described to her what had happened on Monday. She said that she remembered me. She could only have remembered me if she was the employee I spoke to on Monday. She didn't tell me that she was the owner. I asked her if there was anything she could do because it wasn't fair I had to pay twice for using the self-service computer and the document that didn't copy because of her faulty equipment. She said there wasn't anything she could do. They didn't have access to the system. How much money do you think the store earns from people using that self-service computer? I then asked if "it" was allowed to cheat the customers out of money...and she hung up on me. Maybe they get so much from it (when customers pay more than once for the same thing) that they don't want to "fix the problem" because that'll cut their profits! A good business owner would find a way to prevent their customers from being cheated. If I were you, I wouldn't waste my money on using this location for any services...unless you have enough money to give or throw away. If you're in a customer service business, you must do what's necessary to serve your customers! If you care about serving your customers, you must not sit back and allow them to be cheated or waste their time! It happened to me, don't think it won't happen to you! read more

I notice all the time that there are primarily only negative reviews on yelp, and I wanted to add my perspective. I just had a very positive experience at this location. I walked up to the store during a business rush. To be Covid responsible, a couple of us did have to stand outside to wait, but we were able to enter within moments because the team was working very efficiently and getting all of us in and out as quickly as possible. I needed to make copies and one of the four team members came out from behind the counter to help me get started at the copy station. When I was done, I was helped quickly and professionally to be checked out. All four employees were very personable and upbeat. I would happily return to this store! read more

Don't use this store location. They make every attempt to nickel and dime you, I was going to return my Amazon package(the plastic pouch) and I had everything all ready to go but they told me the charge was $1.00 per BOX to tape. So I'm standing a tad bit puzzled, wondering why I'm paying to tape a box but all I have is a little plastic pouch. Long story short the manager stated that the are franchise and if she offered free tape, she would lose money! Then I'm overhearing other conversations with customers and they are charging to re-tape boxes that aren't "properly taped"....umm no I'll try my regular store in Brookside and even if they do charge I'm sure it wouldn't be the cost equivalent for a box needing tape. read more

You just have to take in all the information you can; and then use your own judgment on whether you want to use the product or service. I visited the UPS store at 6222 Raytown Trfky in Raytown Missouri on Monday, June 7, 2021. The young man who helped me was awesome! His name is Jacob. I learned that he is the same young man that I spoke to on the previous Friday when I was trying to get information about an item I wanted to ship using dry ice. The shipping prices were higher than what he told me on Friday, but the reason for that was Friday's price was estimated based on the product weight and dimensions that I gave him over the phone. I did not know the weight; and I was off a little bit on the dimensions. I have used this store before, but it's been several years ago. Today was the first time I've been here in quite a while. So now I have begun a complaint with the better business bureau. This store has a child named Cody who clearly has some issues where he should not be working with people. I have been using this location for years getting prints. Every time it is always a struggle to get the manager (come to find out owner per other reviews) Peggy to get my prints right. I create my files in photoshop and they are sized EXACTLY how I need them to print. She always struggles and has to print 3-4 times to get it right (and always charges for the extra incorrect prints). This time however she could not figure out how to use the pc as usual and said my documents were not correct, it was my fault and it would cost more money for her to get them right. I told her if she can't do it I will find someplace else that would. She still charged me $5 for the 3 incorrect prints. Peggy is always argumentative every time I have patronized this location. Always blaming the customer for her lack of knowledge is what I come to find. After this last situation I will not be going back to spend my money at this location. read more

If I could give "0" I would. I attempted to mail a package on Monday, December 22 to Indianapolis. I gave my phone with the address to the clerk - who screwed it up and mailed it to the wrong address. I failed to check her work, so the package not arriving on Christmas is my fault as well. But it was $85.00 I will never have back due to the ineptitude of the clerical staff. However, I went back the first day after Christmas when I found the package did not arrive and the owner, Peggy Sundquist, took my information and stated she would call me that afternoon with results. Peggy was as inept as her clerk and she states she wrote down the wrong phone number; therefore, I never received a call. I called back on Saturday and an assistant told me Peggy wasn't in and she got my phone number wrong. I gave my phone number to the assistant and he stated he would call the UPS distributors and follow up that day. I asked why Peggy hadn't called yet and he stated he didn't know. I had him repeat my phone number 3 times to assure he had it correct. He never called back, of course. I went into the office on Monday afternoon and spoke with Peggy directly. She tried to blame the entire screw up on me and showed me the written documentation. When I asked why she or her staff hadn't called me in 54 hours and she stated, "It's because we get busy". She also stated my phone number was still wrong and again try to state everything was my fault. I pointed to the written documentation in two handwriting styles showing my number had been written down by two people - ACCURATELY. She either lied about having the wrong phone number from me, dialed the wrong number, or she just didn't try to call back. She then finally proceeded to call UPS Coordinators. I asked why the call hadn't been made earlier. She stated it had. I asked the results of that call, she stated it was delivered to the address on the package. I asked why she didn't ask for the package back and she didn't have an answer. I believe she lied about this as well and never placed a call until I came in today. She was totally clueless as to handle issues in her own place of business. If it were me, I would have been ashamed. I told her I would handle the issue and needed her information. I called UPS direct and they found the package and are having it delivered to the correct address - information she received 3 days before I physically followed up with her. This is the single worst experience I have ever had with ANY business on the planet. The only time I would recommend store #4771 is for terrorists to send information to go out timely - at least in that they would fail. read more

I'm in graduate school and normally buy my textbooks online which is affordable and convenient. When it's time to mail back my textbooks, which I love, I normally take then back to the UPS store in Brookside. I love that location because it quick, fast, never have long lines, and the staff is very friendly. Since I recently moved, I chose to take my textbook back to the Raytown UPS store. I didn't have any tape and when I asked the young lady could I have a piece of tape to seal my box she told me that she would have to charge me a dollar. She stated that since the locations are individually owned that the owner chose to charge $1.00 if customers need to use tape. I just thought it was ridiculous. It wasn't the employee's fault as she was just following directions however, I'm not giving this store $1.00 for a small piece of tape. I told her never mind and took my book back to the Brookside location in which they happily gave me a small piece of tape to seal my box for FREE. Can you give negative stars? This location in Raytown has the most unhelpful person. Went in yesterday to have a document notarized. Have had that done there before. Was told as of a couple weeks you needed an appointment for notary service and I would have to go online to make an appointment - I couldn't make one in person. Was told this by the person who is the notary while I stood at his counter. I pull up the web address to "make an appointment" and it showed nothing available until the next day. The store was completely empty. I was the only customer in the store. Asked the gentlemen again, aren't you the notary? Isn't there any way you can do this now since there are no other customers in the store? He refused. I dropped a few expletives and assured him I would never step into his store ever again.
