This is the ONLY UPS store in Frederick to take USAA deposits. I don't understand why, as Ft. Detrick has Frederick crawling with military and this location is not convenient to most of the city. Please stay away from this location! The store allows a man who does not work there to give directions to customers, and they appear to support his non authority. When I questioned who he was and why he was addressing me, he became beligerent and the employees said that I could go to another UPS store nearby. He then followed me outside the store and made threatening comments and continued yelling at me as I left. Unacceptable! I don't go to a store to find some guy sitting on a counter telling customers what to do or not do. And I certainly dont' expect to be threatened. read more

The staff is rude. When standing in line outside to drop off a package, an older gentleman walked up up. He began to walk through the door at which point I politely said to him "sir I am standing in line out here." He immediately snapped back with a sharp and rude tone "And I'm going in here to work!" I had no way of knowing he was an employee, it's not like he walks around holding a sign saying I work here. I apologized and he stormed inside. When I later called to complain the manger, while he was polite, said "I'll make note of it." Which of course is speak for nothing will be done. I didn't appreciate being treated so disrespectfully by an employee of the store. There was a better way in which he could have shared he was going in to work without treating the customer poorly. For starters he could of used a kinder tone than snapping back at his customer. Don't let the snarky comment from the store owner fool you. By saying such things as "clearly he was wearing a uniform including a branded mask and hat" you assume the store owner was standing next to me during this experience. I can assure you the owner wasn't next to me because if he was he would know this employee wasn't wearing any hat and I only saw the branded mask when he turned to snap at me. Additionally, the UPS logos are on the left side of the uniform so I only saw these logos when the man turned to face me as he approached the store from my left side which made it difficult to see until he turned his body towards me. Regardless, customers shouldn't be yelled at unless they are causing a ruckus. I was polite and only trying to ensure my spot in line. read more

The people inside are friendly enough, but the location charges $2 if your box needs a 12" of tape. I don't know if this is a UPS Store thing or if this is this store's thing. But either way, it's a fairly petty way of nickel and diming your customers. If they hit you up for something as silly as a little tape, what else will they ding you for? There are certainly other options for shipping in this world and neither Kinkos nor USPS charge if your box needs a single piece of tape. I don't know if I have other options for my UPS shipping needs but I will certainly seek one out or perhaps discontinue shipping with UPS altogether. I'm sure I'm coming across as a bit petty myself, but it's really not about the $2...it demonstrates a company that is not interested in earning customers through hard work, merely through a quick buck. I walk in finding a bearded male helping a customer and a female checking in packages. I don't bother either and just wait, another two customers come in and wait behind me. The male is working diligently with his customer and the female continues without saying anything, one could tell she has an attitude by her body language and the way she as handling the packages. After a short while the bearded guys finishes his customer and helps me, just at that moment this little biotch looks up and starts to help the other two customers standing behind me. What fresh hell is this, why couldn't she greet us, why couldn't she stop processing packages that were behind the counter, why did her pure existence stink of RBF? Especially, Mike, I had a little trouble printing a document this morning, and he took the time to help me get it printed. He didn't mind helping me. I truly appreciate their customer service. It's always a pleasant experience when I come into this store. I came here on a Saturday. December 14th, 2019, to be exact. The location is already small, but the girl working in the store is extremely LOUD! That big mouth doesn't seem to get that no one wants to deal with her screaming the whole time she talks. She tries to explain to me how the codes and labels to Amazon packaging works, as she was too busy ignoring the fact that I'm trying to talk calmly and get her to do the same, by saying "ok,ok, Ok" because she's screaming the whole time she's running her mouth. She had the audacity to tell me "just trying to help you out there" in the most condescending tone with that goofy smirk, as if it's rocket science. No sweetheart, you can help me by learning professionalism. The owner, manager or whatever he is who's always there really needs to say something to her about her constant yelling. You should learn to match the tone of the customer, and use your inside voice as opposed to yelling like you're crazy. I like coming here when she's not here. The guys are much more calm than she is and much nicer. I don't need you breaking down codes and labels to me. I just need you to understand quality customer service and how to speak to people. If I'm not talking like I have a hearing problem, don't speak to me like I do. But then again, perhaps she does. If she understood what it means to ensure customers have a quality customer experience, or if she cared about the business, her actions would have been much different. Instead of feeling it necessary to explain what a code consists of, a more professional and engaged response would have been her explaining that I can't use that as a code but I can definitely print it out for you at a fee. No, instead I, the customer, had to explain to her that she could print it for me. I was returning a work computer today for my employer and asked for a receipt of the transaction (even though no money needed to exchange hands) for the return. They replied; "we don't give receipts". I asked why not, he said they haven't for years and suggested I use the tracking number to track. A receipt is a transactional document that provides proof of where the transaction takes place, location and time. This is useful for customers if and when a package is lost, or if there is a problem if the tracking number is lost in their system or whatever. A receipt is a transactional document and has more than 1 purpose...period! If I have no receipt and something goes wrong with the shipment I have no proof the transaction took place at the store, and I am liable for the loss to my employer without proof I handed over the box to the UPS store on a specific date and time. If I have proof the liability shifts from me (the customer) to the UPS store if I have a receipt. It's not good business to deny a customer of something so vital like a transactional receipt when requested, especially when shipping important items. I left upset, disappointed and plan to go to another store further away from my home. This is crazy! I plan to contact The UPS Store headquarters 1st thing on Monday to report this store. They should not get away with denying customers the right to a transactional receipt when we ask for one as proof a transaction for a return shipping item was actually handed over for shipping at their store. Don't let them continue to do this, unless the headquarters has no say in this practice at individual franchise stores. We will see what headquarters has to say about UPS Store franchise owners not providing receipts when asked for shipping return related items. read more

Visited the store on a Saturday in order to get some documents notarized - working in DC doesn't allow me to try to take care of this on the weekday. After asking for a notary, I was told that that service was not offered on a Saturday. I explained that there was no way I could visit their store during the week, and received a lecture concerning the 3500 other notaries in the Frederick County area, and surely one of them would be able to help me. When I asked why they could not perform a notary, I was told that Saturday was their busiest day, and they could not interrupt their service for a notary task. The only people in the store at the time was myself, my wife, and the two store employees who had been shooting the breeze with the UPS delivery guy before we walked in. Some kind of busy! With this kind of customer service, I really have to wonder about the positive reviews written here. Even if they had to state that company policy was that no notary service could be performed on Saturday, it would have been better than some sarcastic, flippant speech about the number of notaries in the county. read more

Had a very crazy, disconnected experience at this store. The first clerk was very helpful and did a wonderful job packaging electronics for shipping. She was courteous, kind and thorough. The second clerk, Michael, was not. I requested 100 loose pages to be bound. Michael proclaimed loudly that he had not used the machine for some time. I handed him the paper with collated sections for ease of paper hole punching. He immediately aligned all the pages then began attempting to get the paper holes punched. But appeared to have issues as he misaligned the first stack and placed the holes improperly. He then asked me if I had the files on my phone or via a usb drive. I did have the files on my phone and was able to email the files but Michel misaligned the first 19 pages which was the first two sections of the papers. He offered to reprint for free but he printed these pages one sided while the rest were double sided. He then asked if I could pick up the completed binding in a day or two indicating there was a line of people waiting. I was open to picking up the bound papers at a later time but after seeing that the papers were askew, I was not going to pay for a binding with pages either wrongly ordered or badly printed. I took my papers, paid for the packing the first clerk completed. Later when sorting my papers, Michael not only reprinted the files one sided but had left out and misplaced a number of other pages resulting in reprinting of specific pages. This would have resulted in pages missing and some misplaced. Overall, the packing of my electronics was above par but the print job to bind papers was atrocious. I will not use this store for printing related jobs only packaging in the future. read more

Worst UPS store I've ever been too. Had to make an appointment to see the notary person who was really rude to myself and even my kids. She had an attitude to begin with and then when looking over my paperwork to notarize she acted like it was too hard for her to do and gave me an even bigger attitude. She asked her boss/manager to look over the paperwork and he all of a sudden was like yeah you should go to your realtor and sign it in their office....well duhhhh if I could do that I would have instead of wasting my time with you knuckleheads. We've mailed packages here both with and without pre-paid labels and are pleased each time with both the service and down-to-earth nature of the employees. The girl that helps us is a sweetheart and the gentleman there treated me like the new neighbor I am (prompting me to give him my card for printer cartridges that he seemed receptive to). When visiting in Jefferson, MD in March 2019 this UPS Store prepared glass items to ship to my home in Kansas and Mike and Miguel were extremely helpful to me. Last week they went way above and beyond in assisting me in locating another shipment of glass items being sent to me here in Kansas for which I had concern. They called the other UPS Store and tried to locate the items and were willing to get those items to their store to repack and ship. I went to this store to get a notary today. I found the service through google where the website told me that i didn't need an appointment. I stopped in after work and i was the third person in line. I think the manager was working the front desk. When he saw i needed a notary he told me that i needed to make an appointment online, insinuating he wouldnt help me. I said I didnt know I had to. I left the store and tried to make an appointment from my phone, but there were none for that day. After he had helped all the other customers, I got back in line and asked if i could make an appointment for a notary. He wanted to argue with me that he didnt see anything in the computer for me. I told him that I said earlier that i didnt have an appointment and could i make one? Then i asked him if he wanted me to leave. I was confused on why this was such an issue when the ups website for that store said that walk ins were ok. I didnt argue with him then because i didnt want to say something i would regret. Guaranteed i will not be back. I will just drive to the north location if i meed notary services again. read more

Do not use UPS in Frederick, MD...package was lost and I was told that it was my fault. When package was dropped off...clerk rushed through process, did not tell me I could get more insurance, nor did she ask for or put on a description of the contents...found out when package was lost that UPS will only reimburse for $100. You must have a receipt for the items in box shipped to get reimbursed, also was not told that I could have asked for signature of recipient at delivery. This was never told to me at time of shipping. Was told it was my fault that I did not request these things. Clerks were rude on the phone when I was trying to follow up on lost. Left message for owner to call, after finding out package was lost, never got a call. Use Fed-ex or US Postal service. I will never use Frederick UPS again..total incompetence..... read more

The guys who currently work here are extremely down to earth and friendly. Great, competent service. I've become a frequent customer and they always remember my name. I purchased a mail box at this location and when I drop off packages they often have my mail ready to go without my having to open my box and get my drop-off slips. I get a lot of packages and can't always pick them up every day ... But they are really understanding and don't charge any fees for keeping them longer than a day or so. And if I have any questions the employees are more than happy to provide informative and thorough answers. So far this is my favorite shipping location and I will definitely continue to do business here. read more
