I've been to this UPS location for Amazon return drop offs, fingerprinting, and once for shipping needs. I've never had any issues and my experience has always been great. When scheduling fingerprinting, it was fast and easy. When I arrived for my appointment it was on time and simple. The technician was efficient and friendly. My Amazon drop offs have always been easy too. They scan my code and take my item and give me a receipt to send me on my way! Pricing is of course average for a UPS location. Similar to competitors and other locations. Great location and great staff here. read more

I really wish that the manager would take a lesson in customer service and be polite--she would make a real business out of the store. The manager is very tough and charges for absolutely everything she can think of from printing label, etc... I understand having a profit margin , but it can be put much more politely. I do a lot of business with this location, and the attitude is difficult to get past, I take my business to Reno in one giant shipping group than have to deal with her. They have a very good ability to recognize you as you come in and as soon as you do the main lady. That runs the place usually will mention something to you if you have a large package that has came for you or anything that would've been to big for your box when going in to check your mail box. It can get very busy in there but it seems to stay operating very well even when it is busy. I had no problem at all when I had go to this UPS store. read more

I was out of town when I found I needed something delivered over night. I called this store and explained that a friend would bring it but could I pay over the phone, as I knew it would not be cheap. Shannon helped me out, got my information and the envelope went out with no problem and she sent me a picture of the receipt and tracking information. She went as far as texting me the next morning to see if we'd received it, as she had a confirmation it had been delivered. We got it, on time. We sent off some camera equipment to be cleaned prior to a trip to Africa. Given the value of the shipment, we insured it for quite a lot, and were told that it was recommended we send it 1- or 2-day, so that fewer hands handled it. Ok, I thought that might be a gimmick, but whatever, I knew I'd be spending a lot for insurance already, so what the heck. Sent it 2-day. Thankfully, we hadn't waited 'til the last minute to do all this, as the package didn't make it 'til the 3rd day. I called UPS for a refund, and they said I had to go to the store where we shipped it, since it's independently owned. When I went to the store, I talked with Teresa, who said no, I had to go directly to UPS for the refund. I'm pretty sure she saw the look on my face as I (and likely so many others) have played that crappy game before, where you get shuffled around so much I think the company(-ies) bank on you just giving up. So then she said, you know what, let me take your name and number and see what I can do. And she did it! She not only got me my refund, she patiently left me many messages while we were in Africa and unable to return her call, to let me know they had a check sitting there waiting for me. I was impressed not only by her working on my behalf, but in being so diligent in following up to make sure that I actually got my refund. Pretty sure all our holiday shipping will be done through this UPS Store this year. read more

Normally I would give a 5 star. Today was a bit different. I was told to save myself time to return my Amazon package I should use their kiosk. I had problems with the kiosk from the beginning. It wouldn't scan the code from my phone. I was given a code to join their Wi-Fi. I could not join their Wi-Fi. At this point I should have been helped by an employee as I had already stood in line just to be sent to a self service kiosk that wasn't working. Instead I get to sit there and try to figure out why it's not working. I assumed an employee would help to troubleshoot. I ask if someone can help me instead of telling me to try something else. After going into Amazon to see if something was wrong on that end, I find the code again and download it again. After several minutes of trying to get the kiosk to accept the code, the first question it asks me is package size. After imputing that my box will not fit into a shipping envelope, the kiosk tells me to go get assistance from an employee. . Funny. Very, very funny. The employee didn't notice my package size? Once the employee realizes I'm back in line again she tells me to come up to her, she scans the code off my phone, it instantly registered, and she hands me a receipt. Really? It was that fast through her computer, but she preferred to make me struggle with an uncooperative kiosk while she helped people coming in. If she would have helped me when the first attempt at the kiosk wasn't working, then my time would have been saved. So if you see your customers are having an issue with your kiosk, try helping them as if there weren't a kiosk instead of making them figure out that the kiosk won't let you complete a box transaction and will send you to the back of the line you already stood in. PS to edit for their response, I was left to struggle with the kiosk and UPS Wi-Fi while they helped people who came in AFTER me, but thanks for trying to make it appear as if I was demanding service before "my turn". read more

What a absolute joke this store is. Got extra insurance for our package and the package never got delivered to the recipients. It claimed "delivered" through the tracking number. Everyone was home all day and ups never came by at all. Started the claim in December and was led on by the "manager" who mind you is very unprofessional and quite rude. For 4 months we basically got the run around saying they're doing everything they can to help us. Today we go in and she just so happens to tell us well your claim was denied because it said it was delivered. I will never ship through this store ever again. This store is fine as long as you are sending a package with a pre-paid mailing label. I send back to Amazon or other places with an included mailing label. But, if you have to send something on your own dime, beware, the prices here are way higher than what you'll pay bringing you package to a real UPS center, like they have in Sparks. I mean 40% higher in some cases. I called UPS about this and they said the little UPS stores like this are independently owned and set their own prices! What? UPS lets the franchises set their owe prices? I was mailing a bigger package and saw the cost here and then took it to Sparks cause I was going to Reno anyways. I would have found out if I didn't go to Sparks. It was well worth the price of gas to go to Sparks with the huge price difference. You should read this if you plan on getting your mail forwarded! The only reason I give them a 1 star is simply because I cannot give them a 0! If you pick up your mail here, you may be OK, especially if you like managers and staff that come and go faster than viagra emails in your spam box, but if you plan on having any mail forwarded, this review is for you! After about 5 years, and 3x as many managers, I quit trying to teach them how to forward my mail. When I initially set up my mailbox with the Topsy Lane UPS Store, my mail was to be forwarded monthly. So we started with their service and thought nothing of it. Well months come and go and I noticed I had received no mail from the Topsy Lane UPS Store. I got nervous and called. When I called to ask the uninterested sounding teen who answered my call, to please check my box, I learned some of the mail that was sitting idle in my box, was from IRS, DMV and my car insurance. I was upset. I had them ship my mail in a priority two-day envelope at my expense. When my mail arrived, I noticed that much of my mail was over two months old. As far as my bills: my car insurance canceled me, IRS tacked on a late fee, and DMV charged me a fee for a late registration. I called to complain and was assured this would not happen again. Well it did happen again, and again. I would find myself making a note to call them every month and ask who the manager was that month. I would then as "the manager of the month" to ensure my box was listed for forwarding. This too yielded what I would term "hit and miss" results. Sometimes they got it, most of the time they didn't. More calls, more managers, more long winded explanations how the last inept manager was replaced and told "it won't happen again" and more canned apologies. After five years of this track record, I was done. I finally had it with their continued incompetence. I called to cancel my box, asked for a refund and left a message for the owner to contact me. A few days went by and no contact. I called and left another message. The manager on duty said the owner was not around. When I continued to probe, I learned that she was an absentee owner and who appeared to not even live in the state. I left another message for the owner with negative results. I then wrote a letter explaining my situation and the most recent late fees I had to pay because of my mail not being forwarded as promised. I explained that I considered this a breach of contract since I paid for the forwarding service. The owner never replied, so I voted with my feet, and took my business elsewhere. If YOU are reading this, save YOUR money, time, and frustration. Simply GO elsewhere for these services BECAUSE life is too short for this s***! read more

The customer service at this store is a joke. Came in a few weeks back to do an Amazon return but I didn't have a box. The lady grabs a box and then goes "That will be $8". I'm like wait what? Amazon says you will pack and label it at no charge. Her response "Yes, but you brought in a label. You would need a Amazon UPS scan code." Ok, well maybe tell me that instead of trying to charge me for a ridiculously priced box. Then today I waited in line for 20 minutes to be told their computers are down and they can't process Amazon returns. You couldn't bother to put a sign up in the window to warn people so they don't waste their time? They also failed to mention that the computers were working at the location 5 miles down the road. I brought in my Amazon return and shipping label. I thought everything was ready to go and that I only had to hand them my return. When they told me I needed a box, I didn't believe them. Then I carefully read my directions from Amazon and it DID say I needed a box! I guess not all Amazon returns are the same. They were kind and patient with me and even packed it for me! And yes, of course they charged me for the box! I didn't expect it to be free! I also had a UPS package to send. I was able to send that while I was there as well. I noticed in another review that they might charge more than if I took it to UPS, so when I got home, I called UPS to check. They charged me exactly the same as my local UPS would have charged me. I've done plenty of shipping from this location, and they are always helpful and efficient. On my most recent visit I planned to set up an appointment to get a document notarized. Instead, 10 minutes and $5 later, I was on my way with all necessary stamps and signatures. So much less complicated than I expected. So helpful at this location, especially considering we were just shipping back Direct TV stuff. The employee was patient, as we had to look up our account number since the bar code had disappeared from our dvr. I can't thank Teresa at the UPS on Topsy LN enough for all her help. Due to an address error on my part a package was going to be delivered to the wrong address. Not able to get help through J.C. Penney who I made the purchase through I decided to see if UPS could help. Teresa took my name, phone number and tracking number and said she'd see what she could do. In an hour and a half she called me back and let me know my problem was taken care of. I appreciate her going above and beyond and also for her calling to let me know the situation was taken care of. This store has recently gone from a great store to one that is failing fast-Negative stars. As a customer for years I was happy this UPS store had great customer service. They were beyond compare from what I have experienced at other ups stores. (20 years shipping ups) There has been a change in management/employees and it seems like no one knows what they are doing. I smelled alcohol from the lady flipping my package around like it was nothing asking me what I was shipping, making me realize the level of care involved. I had a package returned from a damage claim and it sat in the store for 2 weeks with no call. They told me they didn't have my number which it was a damage claim and ups sent it back to me so I know the system had my info if someone would of taken a couple minutes to find it then I would of been notified. Ridiculous. Also-You will be charged for everything so be prepared to have everything you need to package something ahead of time or they will try to charge like $20 to have them tape a box that you purchased for $4 from them. They also think they are worth $60 to package items in boxes that are less than $50 in shipping to ship cross country. The services are far below average now and the convenience of buying packaging will cost 3-4 times the cost of other ups, postal or FedEx stores. Price gouging should be illegal but it's not so I hope this review does something to help people choose another option for their shipping and packaging services. There is another UPS store in Carson City that doesn't charge for little things, things that make you feel like a valued customer. Consider that store unless you like being ripped off and taken advantage of by people who don't know what they are doing. Avoid this store if possible or you'll have regrets like me and wonder if your package is safe. read more
