I am happy to report that the service in my local UPS store has dramatically improved. I started coming around again to drop off returns and utilize other services. I wasn't thrilled writing a one star review 3 years ago, but the service was subpar. I do see new faces at this location and the service has gone up a notch. We live in the neighborhood and have been using this store for many years for both shipping and receiving and holding packages for us. So far we only had a very positive experience. The service is always prompt and courteous. I don't find their fees unreasonable. I think it's well worth the convenience of having them in the neighborhood. Frankly, I was quite surprised to find negative reviews for this place. I hope this one will slightly improve their Yelp score... read more

Had a mailbox at this location for a few years, but closed it due to persistent poor service over the last year and half. At one time, the service was outstanding. Things went downhill in late 2024. First, they lost some of my packages. Blamed Amazon, for the first one. Then they lied and claimed that USPS delivered the package but then took it back. However, the package was in the store the whole time. Later in the year they accused me of not paying for something I had paid for. The employee became demanding, insisting that I prove I'd paid for them, when several weeks had passed between when I'd paid and this date and I don't know anyone that carries receipts on them for weeks on end. It turned out that THEY had lost their documentation and did not retain proper documentation. This time it was the fault of the person they fired recently. There is zero accountability at this location. I had to bring in bank statements as I no longer had some of the receipts, as proof of payment. This was for an alleged bill of $2 I proved I'd already paid. After this incident, I maintained photographic evidence of their documentation, as well as all receipts for anything I needed to pay for, "just in case". I reached out to the franchisee, who insisted that this was all one of the employee's fault. A person she hired and trained. She also complained that people in the neighborhood are rude, and someone told her to "F off". I told her that didn't surprise me as many of the staff there, no matter how polite or friendly you are to them are impolite, themselves. She made all sorts of claims that her staff receive regular training and guidance on their performance, yet she didn't know someone had been screwing up for over a year... The store rarely opens on time. While waiting for the location to open, roughly 20 minutes after it was scheduled to, several others were lined up, or walking passed and commenting that they are always late to open. At least 8 different people tried to drop off returns, get mail, or ship something etc. All of whom mentioned that this has become a common occurrence. To echo what others have stated, they charged me $4 to print a label recently and I overheard them charge someone else for receipt on a returned package. If you value your time, money and sanity, this isn't the UPS Store for you. read more

Just 3 weeks ago I gave them a 4 star review. Based on my visit today I am giving them a 2 which is generous and based on today's experience. I came in with a package to ship that already had a pre-printed label. For some reason the woman could not scan the label. This has happened on occasion in the past to me when I went to the UPS office on Fifth Avenue and 83 Street and the manager simply entered the tracking number manually. I asked the women to enter the number manually and she replied " I don't know how to do that. She said she could print a new label although there would be a charge to print it. Am I crazy? Why would I pay for something that is their fault? If there scanner can't read a label that I've printed on my own in the past? The package was costing over $20 to ship. Based on principle I drove over in the snow and ice to the UPS store on Fifth Ave, said nothing about the other incident. The label could not scan and they simply entered it manually. No fuss, no problems!! I hope the owner of this location reads this. These are franchised so they not only lost this transaction, they lost all my business. I ship at least 1 package a week. The woman could have called someone like a manager or owner, apologized, or do something. It's so important for business owners to have a responsible person running your business if you are not going to be there. I have never seen the owner at this location while the store on Fifth Avenue is there most of the time. I will be going to Other location from now on. read more

Other than that this place is sometimes understaffed, it's one of the best UPS stores in the area. Last time I was there, there was a long wait; one customer was having issues and only one person was at the counter. But otherwise, they do a good job being efficient. When I had an issue with a package dropped off at a Dropbox rather than the home residence, the manager arranged a re-delivery very quickly. She and the rest of the staff are friendly. Im not dissatisfied with the employees per se, it's with the ridiculous rules the store has. I have been turned away numerous times for packages that somehow didn't fit the bill. No matter how sturdy the packaging, if it's a "product box", meaning it was a box that held product, they won't accept it for some ridiculous reason. That means no shoe boxes, or boxes that have an illustration of the product it once held, etc. It is beyond frustrating, as this seems utterly arbitrary. UPS makes no mention of this ban, it's this store. Today I struggled to get there with my fractured foot, and was denied again. No, I'm not spending over $5 to buy an unnecessary envelope. This is the closest UPS store near me and it's a drive. They have signs posted everywhere for safety (social distance). They are very professional, polite and efficient. I come each time to drop off packages (some are Amazon return packages) and they can help with packing them for you or print out the shipping labels. I would show them the QR code to be scan so they can easily print out the labels and take care of the package for me. Thanks! Always satisfied with my experiences here. read more

I brought my free amazon return here in a box and taped up. The employee told me I had to buy another box for 23$ because my box said amazon on it. He wouldn't let me cross it out. Avoid this place. Absolutely rude and terrible service from Jocelyn that works at this location. Didn't greet me when I put my package on the counter. Starred at me until she finally and rudely TOLD me to put my package on the scale. Isn't that her job? I put the package on the scale and reviewed the delivery info. I went to pay my $23 charge with a $100 bill like I have many many times in the past and she said she won't take it. I said you won't or you can't? She said she is not taking it because my charge was only $23. I was a little taken back since this is my local store and I come here all the time. I then went across the street to candy store and bought gum for $2 so I could make change. Wetn back over UPS and Jocelyn was with a customer. She saw me because there were only 2 or 3 people in the store me being one of them. When she finished with the customer, she totally ignored me. Not a "can I help the next customer" etc. So, I walked back to the counter. Again, she said nothing to me. I handed her the money and instead of handing me my change, she barely reached out and held the change close to her. I was really thinking this girl doesn't want to be here. I had enough of her rudeness and had to reach over to her and I snapped up my change. THAT is when she reacted like something was wrong. I proceeded to tell her she was rude from the beginning of the transaction. The owner needs to watch the cameras if there are any. This was a NOT good way for anyone to start their day. read more

Wow. Just tried to return an item via the Amazon return process through UPS store. The packaging that Amazon sent me was destroyed and the store refused to accept the item without a box repair charge. I explained to the clerk that this is the way that Amazon shipped it to me and it was actually inside of another box. The clerk wanted to have nothing to do with that and said that I had to pay the fee or they would not accept it. I called Amazon and they said this was not the Amazon policy and that the item did not need a return box at all. Amazon sent me a UPS return label so that I could take it to Staples. Please stay away from the store. They charge fees unnecessarily for US Postal Service as well as other UPS packages. Check out all the other reviews. I'm not the only person that had mentioned it. Very shady. The UPS store at 71st and Third Ave never gives you a hard time and does not try to shake you down for extra fees, even for USPS packages. read more

Stopped by this UPS location recently to return a package, and everything went smoothly. Masks were required, and there was a limit to the number of people allowed inside, so the line extended down the block but moved quickly. The person who took my package processed it so fast that I was probably in and out of the store in less than a minute. Quick service and the product making it to its destination were pretty much all I needed, so I was satisfied with the visit. read more

Place is awful. My wife took an expensive dress to return. She was questioned about it extensively from the staff member yasmine. Even has the tracking info. Place never received it. Called the UPS branch daily until the manager called us back two weeks later when the cameras conveniently automatically delete their recording. Said the dress "was never scanned". They don't know where it is. Called UPS headquarters and they said they can't help bc this UPS Is a private branch. Basically someone that works in the store stole the dress for themselves. We never got the refund. Sad on this branch and corporate UPS for not helping. Stick to FedEx. read more

Very poor service, I came in to drop off a package, but needed very little tape to seal it off, Ciara points at the wall behind me and tells me to grab an envelope bag, seals it up, tells me $2 (never mentioned anything about price) I don't mind the price but at least mention that it's to be purchased before telling me to grab it. I came in with nothing, all I came in with was the package that needed to be dropped off, I told Ciara that I didn't have anything on me, she takes the package, rips it apart and puts it in the garbage, so then I asked her if I could just get a piece of tape instead, she takes my box and tells me $1 please (with attitude) what in the world?? For a piece of tape? Okay fine. Still didn't change the fact that I didn't have anything on me.... I then tell her I'll be back, I found change in the car, because I didn't feel the need to go back home if I didn't need to, I then came back to drop off the package, Ciara then goes "uhhh uhh" under her breath with attitude as she glanced at the change... super rude great customer service! Had me and my child and about 2 other customers waiting outside in the cold rainy weather for about 20 mins with only 2 customers inside that they were helping , and it was not due to Covid regulations because Two employees were not wearing a mask and only one was. When I got inside they refused to help me find another way to receive my package which had a lot of sentimental value and I needed it immediately, that's why I paid for my package to be delivered specifically to this store , but since I didn't have a photo ID but I had legal identification, the debit card (my form of payment I used to have it shipped there) and other legal documents to prove it was my package etc it still wasn't good enough. I asked if there was any way for it to be shipped to my home or any way else I can get it without photo ID since I was waiting on the state to mail me a new one they said no and that they can't help me with anything else that they could only hold the package for 7 more days until I get the ID. Turns out they lied and just didn't want to help me I called UPS and they gave me the option to change delivery. I will never ever ship my stuff back to this location and I don't think anyone else should either they lack in the willingness to help anyone. read more

I visited this location to get documents notarized. I had a great experience. Biana was friendly, polite, patient, and very professional. There were three documents and the whole process took a little over thirty minutes. Biana was so thorough and explained everything she was doing. This made me feel secure because I knew I was being served by an expert. Biana was able to be so focused on my transaction because she was supported by a great team of ladies who were serving the other customers. This place is absolutely ridiculous with these people who work here and how the treat the customers. My sister and I were told by John's to do the return at ups and when we went there they turned us away twice and treated us like we were stupid for coming in there. We finally had Kohls customer service help us and the ups manager finally me in and was able to take over from the incompetent girl named Karen who treated us like we were the biggest problem she ever had in her life. This was not my first experience with Karen. Not that I can prove it but 2 previous packages I've mailed out that she. Accepted never made it their destination. I go to fed ex now on 86th street. ATTITUDE, ATTITUDE, ATTITUDE. The girls that work there need a major attitude adjustment. One person is very rude and unprofessional, needs to pay attention to customers request. They could use some training when a customer needs to use their business account number. They were clueless and did not know how to handle it. Spent 30 min in that store trying to ship a box. They asked for 60$ only for 4 papers to be sent to manhattan. They were taking an advantage of people before the holidays. The lady who was there wasn't professional and she showed anger when I said it is too much money for this service. But she wasn't nice and she stopped answering my questions about the available dates after the holidays. She didn't put any kind of name I'D so I don't know here name but I think she is Indian. FedEx gave me 27$ for the same service and the guy kept telling me all the options and alternatives. This UPS store is very bad. read more

I have a mailbox here because it's next to impossible to get mail delivered to my apartment. The mailbox fee is reasonable for what you're getting, and the fact that they take shipments from all carriers. They're close to my apartment, so it's a good deal. The hours are pretty good, however I do wish they were open just bit later on the weekends because sometimes with the stuff I order from Amazon it can't be delivered Sundays because they close so early. It's only one day, so it's not a huge deal, but that's kind of annoying. The staff is pretty nice, most of them know my name and greet me when I come in. There was a small problem with them "losing" my ID when I signed up for my mailbox, which was a headache, but they found it, so all's well. read more

Review up date 10/30: I recently receive a formal apology from the UPS employee and I believe in giving the store and the employees a second chance. She was sincere and told me she had an issue that same day with a customer that was not easy to work with and she understood where I was coming from. The employee working, who has blue hair, was not very friendly when I tried to check on a package I should have received when I came last week to pick up. I signed for all the slips I was give but when I went to open the packages at home, one is the slips I signed for did not contain the stuff I expected. I had to ask her if she could check because she focused what the system showed instead and was giving me a bad attitude when she was assisting me. I am not happy with this and we just renewed our contract with the store which also increased in price. I am upset because we have always liked and respected this store, which is the reason We keep renewing. I understand that I came late or close to closing but I too had to rush from the city to get here to check on this and the employees lately are not as good as the employees they use to have before. I am very disappointed with what I experienced today and now I question if I should discontinue working with this store after our contract ends next year. I was happy to see this place come into new management. It was hard for me to switch UPS stores, as I'd had used the store on Flatbush for years, and had enjoyed my interactions with the staff there. This 3rd Avenue location is good, and it's nice to see the new services and products being offered, however: There was a cold, impatient vibe from the owner/manager when I complained to the guy about the $3 fee (that I had been unaware of) for using the computer for a 15 minute minimum (although I was on it for literally 3 minutes to print out a single file - seriously??), she actually stopped helping her customer to tell me in a scolding voice, "the price is ON the Desktop, and we HAVE to charge you to use our computers" - as if I was keeping an eye out for fees to pay...? Uhm, no. Now I go to Staples for all my local print needs. I considered banning the place altogether (I take customer service *seriously*, especially from business owners), but it's convenient, so I go. Nonetheless. I will say that since then, it's been alright, no complaints and all the other staff that work there are friendly, calm, and helpful. I just prefer to be treated with more patience, grace and finesse. Sure, I'm all about efficiency and paying fees where they're due, but treating people well can make or break a place over time. read more

A good place if you are choosing to use UPS for a package delivery as opposed to the USPS. The staff is friendly and accomodating and there isn't much else I can say to that effect. They will assist in your packaging of an item or do it for you in full but this will come at a price since this is essentially a franchise store and they need to make money for the services rendered. I needed to send a bunch of stuff to Venezuela. The plan as to ship everything to Miami through UPS, and then use a Venezuelan carrier that would handle the Miami-Caracas bit. I had 130 pounds of stuff that needed to be packed meeting the requirements of both carriers and in a way that wouldn't leave me broke. From the get-go, Biana was up for the challenge; she took charge, helped solve the math problem in front of me, and was always patient and willing to solve whatever new hurdle that would come up. I don't have a car, so it was very convenient that the owners came to my apartment to pick everything up (I had packed all the stuff I was shipping in backpacks and suitcases). After they packed and shipped everything to Miami, they drove back to my building to return all the backpacks and suitcases. I ended up shipping 3 boxes (2 fragile and 1 regular). Everything made it to its final destination in perfect shape :) I will definitely come back to this UPS for my next big shipping. read more

This is the best UPS store ever. I been a customer for approximately five years. They are professional and helpful in all ways. Without Biana and Alina I would be lost. They are my office. They keep my files and receipts things I would definitely loose. Help me on the computer. I think I am tech savvy but in realty not, without those two I be lost. When I walk in I know everything will be taken care by Biana and Alina always with a smile. I love that place. I used only go to FedEx now I go only here. Great people to do business. The customer service is here above and beyond -- I come here almost weekly and am always greeted with a smile and support in whatever I am trying to do (print, send packages, mail, etc). Definitely recommend this UPS location to others. In particular, they were very accommodating when I had to print some large signage for my wedding - the signs turned out gorgeous - and they helped keep me cool during a very stressful time for me. There is a girl who works at this store who I believe does something off on purpose. I had to mail a package to California which wasn't heavy or big at all more like 18 inches long or something like that. She told me it would be more than $60 dollars to send it. I went to USPS and it cost me $22! Yet another time that I went in to drop off a package, she doesn't say hi, she just rudely motions you to put it down.
