I'll never go back!!! Food is pretty good and servers are cool. However the cooks are very slow, waited over 40 minutes for a burger when there was no other customers there. The part that got me is that they charge four different taxes to your bill, Ive never seen this before in my life! Regular tax, liquor tax, service tax, and credit card tax/surcharge. On top of that an automatic gratuity charge is added after, not before, all of those taxes are added to your bill. This has to be a criminal offense and the Owner should be held accountable. I come all the way from out of town.. and this place completely disappointed me. My cousin had been here several months ago, she lives in the area and thought we should check it out from her last experience. $54 with gratuity included. I decided to treat. Boneless wings with fries, spinach and artichoke dip, amaretto sour was each requested. The server was polite. She put the order in, came back and handed me the receipt to pay because apparently that is their policy: Pay before food comes. Unfortunately, for me, caught off guard: I paid in cash. I can't understand why Security was at the door yet they fear folks running out with free food. The food came rather fast. The wings were extremely tiny and overcooked, the fries were cold and seemed to be cooked in old grease, I also found out later that they no longer had spinach dip so they brought me Doritos and Queso dip. Unbelievable. Lastly, my drink's ice was completely melted and it was so sour, I tasted no alcohol and couldn't even finish it. So, we demanded at least a refund for the spinach dip.. then server claimed they magically found it. We declined. The manager Jackie (man) came over, very irate with my cousin because she complained about the "service" referring to the policy that she's never experienced here before. On 7/11/22 at approx. 12:40 a.m.; my first and worst experience in Atlanta nightlife was here at UBAR. I have never expected to receive such a disgusting experience as a military veteran and transgender (MTF) person, in such a diverse city. My friend (ATL native) had invited me here after a long days of work to eat some seafood and have some drinks. I did not even get to order. Upon my initial arrival and getting checked in by 'Mike' the bouncer who was also falsely wearing a security badge. I presented my ID and was permitted to enter. I found my friend who already spent more than $100 with 'Sha' the waitress. Not even two songs later, before I could even ask for a beverage; I was singled out, ostracized, and belittled by Mike who asked me to leave, with no other reason but having a dress on. He also stated that Carl (night manager on shift) did not agree with my attire and Mike asked if I had a shirt to go over and after being corrected; continued to call me a man. Not only this, but violated my right of freedom of expression and began to spurn our interaction to other customers. The embarrassment was so gregarious that my friend, who had also witnessed this entire event; felt so uncomfortable, we asked Sha to close out the tab, paid and left. The next day, my friend was so embarrassed on inviting me to UBAR, we called daytime management and spoke with Toshi, who we explained the entire situation to, and Toshi was sympathetic. She said she would escalate to Phil Harden (owner) and that he would return my call for further details. This never happened. I never received a call nor an apology for the public unlawful discrimination my friend and I received. I would never recommend a place who allows someone inside and then 10 minutes later create an excuse to ostracize and kick someone out, just because they're different in front of a large crowd. It's hard to determine whether this place is a club / bar or a restaurant. it is also hard to determine whether the split decision is a good thing. I enjoyed the atmosphere a lot. The music / DJ was turnt and my girlfriend and I were definitely able to slight twerk while eating at one of the numerous high tops. At least 50 TVs make this a great spot to watch some games. there's a full bar with sections available if you're trying to celebrate her birthday or other special occasion. The high tops are also portable so the dancefloor stays ready to go if it's a club night. the food was tasty but definitely more on the heavier side with regards to taste and price. There's a crab special on some days though if you want to take a load off and watch some bull riding while you eat. I would go back if in the area to hang out and be seen but probably won't go if I want a traditional restaurant by where there's real conversation happening. read more

The new "U Bar" is cool. I've been here before when it was "The Ultimate". The only reason I give this 'almost sports' bar 3 stars is because the music is great and the people are cool as ever, but the parking lot is always atrocious. The patrons are always circling the parking lot find spots. There are always cops at the door whenever you come. The music is always live. I wouldn't really come here to watch any games because it's forever LOUD. Nonetheless, the drinks are just OKAY. They have $11 pitchers of certain mixed drinks but I had the Blue Motherfucker and it wasn't good at all. I hate feeling obligated to do something because I spent $$ on it and won't get my money back. Stick with a beer. It's a very young, ratchet crowd for sure with hookahs and a mechanical bull. The parking lot stays packed. On Saturday at 5pm the parking lot is running over with cars. We sat a the bar and the bartenders acted like they didn't want to be there, might have been on some type of stimulant or something. We ordered food while sitting at the bar. The lemon pepper wings were very good, the mac and cheese was very good and cabbage was good but spicy, not flavorful but spicy. Music played throughout the night, it was fine for distraction from the people coming in. This is NOT a classy place by any means. There is free parking in front of the building however if you get there during prime hours the space would be limited. There was no cover fee for the night which was a good thing. Police and security in the vicinity to ensure there is safely inside of the bar/restaurant. Hostess and servers are in the front putting your name for a table. We came during prime time hours and the whole put your name down for a table was non existent. The whole two & half hours me and my friends were there, no one called our names for a table. There were table that were vacant still had used hookah & remained foods from the previous party this was ensure we didn't sit down. I would advise anyone who come to this location to make a reservation beforehand or you will be in standing in your four inch heels for hours. Also, make sure you wear comfortable shoes. This place act like a club which means people are on top of each other like sardines in a can. You can't block the man area so you will have to find a spot in the corner to turn up. Overall impression of U Bar: It's a hot mess. And I mean "hot mess" literally. I went to U Bar to meet some high school friends who were visiting Atlanta and were staying at a hotel close by. One of them had been to U Bar before and had a good time and wanted to return. I knew that U Bar was not my social style, but sometimes I go along to get along. The only good thing about U Bar is the parking. It's in a strip mall so there's plenty of it, and it's free. Security is at the door to check ID and inside your purse. I saw that he also performed pat downs which he skipped over with me (I'm assuming because my clothes were so tight that if I had a weapon, it would have bulged out.) He took his job seriously and was all business, so it's good to know that people won't be allowed in with a firearm. (But why are you in a place that needs to pat down its clientele!? You are too old for that. SMH) After your pat down and bag search, there is an outside register where you pay $10 for the pleasure of visiting this demon den to spend additional money. As a black person, I completely understand why this charge is necessary. However, the reasons do not apply to me, and I do not frequent establishments that do this. Once inside, we were seated immediately and a server came by to tell us that she would be right back. She returned about 20 minutes later. *imagine blank stare* In the meantime, we bought all of the "Patron tequila" shots from a server (they were the type served in a test tube). I had 5 of these "Patron tequila" shots and I was as sober as an emergency room nurse. I could tell that the shots were watered down, but for me not to have a buzz after 5 of them (3 on an empty stomach!) let me know how U Bar operates its bar. Two of us ordered fried food and it was fried well and very bland. Do not come here to eat or drink. (Why should you come here? Well, you shouldn't. Don't say nobody told you.) The music was SO DAMN LOUD. So loud that I had to yell at the person right next to me. And there was no dance floor for booty shaking. So the music is too loud to talk without yelling and there is no dance floor so what are you supposed to do after you finish your fried food? That's where the mechanical bull comes in. Instead of having a dance floor, U Bar has a mechanical bull. And watching the ladies (?) get on the bull with their dresses hiked up around their waists and their a$$es hanging out was the "entertainment." I wonder how many of them knew they were being recorded by men using smartphones? Not many, I'd guess, but since they did it anyway, I suppose they didn't care. One of my friends got on the bull, and that was the best part of the night. She couldn't get up on it and required assistance (this was funny) and then she couldn't hold on and just hung onto the side of the bull with one leg over the back (the DJ called it the longest fall in U Bar history.) And as per the usual treatment of negroes, it was hot as a desert inside. Businesses always do this to black people - not run the air conditioning! I wasn't sweating, but I was overly warm. Too warm for the AC to be working at a reasonable level. The clientele was mostly black (although there were some whites here and there), and there was not 1 person that I wanted to flirt with. And I'm an easy flirt, I can't help myself! I avoided making eye contact because I knew that I was going to have a stone face, and that's not cute. With all the attractive people in Atlanta, I was actually surprised that I didn't see ONE that was flirtable. :-( And oh yeah, they have hookah. I throw this in in case you still want to visit this hot box and wish I'd mentioned it. Reasons for me never to visit U Bar again: 1. I don't want to deal with a pat down outside of the airport. 2. I don't want to pay to visit a business where the whole point is to spend money on food and drinks. 3. I don't want to scream to hear myself heard AND not have a dance floor. 4. I don't want to see a stranger's untoned buttocks. 5. I don't like watered down drinks and I can eat fried food anywhere. 6. I don't like servers that don't actually serve. 7. Soooo Ubar and I have a love hate relationship. The food is sooooo good. I've been coming off and on for 6 years, I have never been disappointed in their food neither has my guests! As a drinker, I know my limits and in what I drink. I had one encounter where after 2 drinks I don't remember a damn thing. I know you all are thinking, "well they seem like they poured you up nicely!" No, that is not the case. Drinks can be kinda strong but sweet. And again I know my limitations and how I'm feeling throughout this drinking process. So I had my eye on them after that night. But brushed it off. Thought, it's a pretty hood establishment that does lots of things wrong (just one: nasty long nails in your drink at service bar and all around the rim of your glass) and they gotta get it how they get it. But as the years went by I started to hear other horror stories about drinks there. One guy told me he bought a bottle of casa migos there (already open when brought to table) and he was convinced they dropped a xanny bar because of the aftermath of how 6 guys felt after one bottle . I assured him that most likely wasn't the case and they just gave you the contents of a bottle the just said TEQUILA written across it. And sold it as a casa migos bottle. Shame on them for sure. You have a couple of options, either stop going or order bottled/ tap beers or their unopened wine bottles and keep it moving. I'm somewhere in the middle, I go for food ( but not after a certain time because it's FOOLISH they charge entry fee) but definitely not as much as I did prior. And I'll order an uncorked small bottle of wine and keep it moving. The service is just slow, very lazy in their movements, no sense of urgency, and when they talk help! Keep doing your thing BOH! Came to this place after dinner to continue my friend's birthday celebrations since it's one of the only places open after midnight on a Sunday. We got seated in the back behind the bar. We never got served by a waiter. A shot girl came over and we got 3 shots from her. After waiting 40 minutes I asked one of the waitresses if she was our server she said no I'll get her. After waiting another 20 minutes I asked another different waitress who passed by if she was our server she said no I'll get her. No one ever came and I ended up going to the bar to get our drinks. We have been in her now almost 2hrs they just did last call for food and no one still has not served us.
