We've had The Tree Guys care for our property for over 20 years, and their service continues to impress us every time.Louis the foreman who provides estimates, is always punctual and brings an incredible depth of knowledge about every tree and plant. His passion for all things green is inspiring, and his positive, can-do attitude is clearly reflected in his hardworking team. Our garden often looks like a jungle before they arrive, and like magic, it transforms into a beautiful maintained space. A special mention also goes to Jeanette in the office she is highly professional, prompt in returning calls and just as cheerful and helpful as the crew in the field. People often take time to complain, but it's just as important to recognize what's been done right -----and the Tree Guys get it right, every time. read more

We had a mite problem coming from rats living in our palm tree. It was an emergency situation and they surely came to our rescue! They were fast, concise, on time, and did what we asked. We speak Spanish so it was easy to communicate with the guys. Prices are decent as well. Go with these guys! You won't be disappointed! read more

Louis from The Tree Guys came to our home to give us an estimate on trimming and pruning some overgrown trees in the back yard. He was very knowledgeable and gave us some options on the best way to proceed. We received the estimate the same day. We called to schedule an appointment and were able to book it for the next day (due to a cancellation). The crew was there on time and did an excellent job. They did the work quickly and efficiently and cleaned up as they went along. The cost was comparable to other tree services and we couldn't be happier with how the trees and back yard look. Jeanette in the office was a pleasure to work with and call backs were prompt. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again and will recommend them. read more

Great customer service! The crew was on time, extremely professional and efficient. Already booked my next service with them!

I barely complain, but you really have to do something that makes me complain. I've been doing some research for awhile on helping my family arrange the two cedar trees out front that needed the branches to be cut and maintained. We got an estimate from The Tree Guys to reduce and shape both trees as part of the job description. However, one of the trees looked very off balanced. We asked the workers if they can balance it out and workers initially agreed to fix halfway thru the job, but their boss came back at the end and refused to do more because we did not let him know ahead of time, and the workers weren't able to make the decisions. It is however in the job description already, didn't know "reduce and shape" does not include balancing the branches. Maybe I need to buy a new dictionary to figure out that the definition of "balance" and "shaping" means. They weren't the cheapest estimate we found for the job, but we picked them since they seemed to be passionate when they came to do the estimate. A little disappointed how it turned out. Why would you give me a tree that's not balanced. It's like why would you buy a Christmas tree that's not balanced. I wasn't asking for a Charlie Brown Christmas tree but I'm starting to feel i paid for one. read more

The Tree Guys - They gave me an imbalanced tree! - Tree Services Near Me - San Mateo, California

We recently hired The Tree Guys to prune a large, overgrown Coast Live Oak and Scarlet Oak. They did a great job at a reasonable cost. Tree pruning always scares me because if it isn't done well it can ruin a tree forever. But I'm extremely happy with the work done by The Tree Guys. And, to be honest, I never thought these two trees could look so good! Very well done read more

Bay Area Tree is simply the best. I have used them in the past and needed them again for serious tree trimming and removal to clear power lines and prepare for a new fence installation. The crew as usual was prompt, skilled, professional and did a complete clean up before leaving. Thank you for another great job. read more

Highly recommend these guys. Responsive, fair price, on time, and careful trimming trees. Was a big overdue job with large California oaks, shared with neighbors. Were careful to trim the branches so that the trees still look good and can recover. They even wore masks when on the ground. Took a while to write this up, but I know they deserve my praise. Thx super the tree guys. read more

TTG did not disappoint at all come day of and are very impressive!!!! First I should note that Alesia emailed a few days in advance to confirm date, time and work to be done. Perfect...we're ready to go! TRG crews arrived right on time with a small caravan of 3 trucks to complete our job. Chuy lead the crew and again confirmed the work to be done and off they went! Crew members strapped into harness to reach tops of our trees & our backyard was quickly a pile of branches and debris. Louie stopped by to check on progress and ensure we were good with everything so far. They could take the old dilapidated fence but neatly stacked the remnants in 2 separate piles. The crews worked most of the day and got us off to a great start on our yard project! The Tree Guys are AMAZING!!!! Highly recommend. read more

I have used them for years to prune our 5 huge live oak trees. Quality work. On time. Good information from Luis, as an arborist.

They are dependable. Do good work at a fair price. What else can you ask for? Since you need a longer review, May I say they are dependable. Do good work at a fair price. What else can you ask for? read more

Called to get estimate on Monday, talked to a very rude, smart mouth lady named Alexia. Scheduled a "drive by" to insure I received estimate by today. Called back today, same rude lady answered said scheduled to come out Monday, asked for the owner, she refused demanding to know what it was regarding. Told her that it was regarding her and her lack of customer service, her response was "you just don't need to call here anymore" and hung up! read more

Knowledgeable but WAY overpriced. We needed two large trees trimmed and shaped. Bay Area Tree was able to schedule an estimate within a few days of my call, and the person who came out was very nice and seemed very knowledgeable and I was ready to hire them. Unfortunately, their estimate was the highest of the four estimates I got. It was more than double the price of two other companies who are also highly reviewed and licensed arborists. Ridiculous. Went with Davey Tree instead for almost $3K less and the trees look great. read more

I have never been so impressed I received three quotes from three different tree service company, Bay area was the lowest quote. After meeting the owner Louie he made me feel at ease, he knew exactly what needed to be done The crew came right on time, never took a break worked all day, was willing to go the extra mile to ensure your satisfaction and did such a beautiful job they cleaned everything up so beautifully it looked better then when they arrived . I would and do recommend Bay Are tree co for any job big or small. if you what the job done right the first time call them read more

These guys were the third option after Mitchell Tree Service gave me a quote that was 2x what everyone else was charging and The Czech Man Tree Service failed to return my phone calls and emails. Positives: Competitive pricing, prompt and on time, came back when I complained about the work and fixed the problem promptly (same day) Negatives: Crew didn't listen to instructions (maybe a language thing) and left a mountain of grapefruit piled on my front porch -- quite comical if I didn't have to deal with it. As mentioned above, when I called to complain, they came back promptly and fixed the problem. Crew also broke a drip irrigation sprayer and didn't bother to mention it to me -- I only discovered it weeks later when the tube attached to it was spraying water all over the place! All in all: Positive experience with The Tree Guys. Although there was a bit of a communication snafu, I was impressed that they listened to my complaint and came back quickly to correct the problem. read more

They just finished our plum and orange tree pruning. The guys did a great job pruning and cleaning up after. I had a professional doing the trees but then he retired so I did it myself for 3 yrs but both trees were out of control. I decided to use them when I watched them take a tree down last year in my neighborhood and they surpassed my expectations will have them back next year read more

The Tree Guys are amazing. Good prices, awesome work both thinning/trimming large trees and removing/grinding stumps on large trees. The arborist came out to provide guidance and prepare the estimate, he also was there to instruct the crew before they started. The trimming and removal crew was made up of 10 members, each working furiously fast on their own specific task. Two large trees that were damaging the property were removed and four large trees were expertly trimmed (the Cypress looks like a postcard now) in about 3.5 hours. All residue was cleaned up with rakes and a gas blower after the grinding. Extremely professional and prompt. Can't recommend them highly enough! read more

Louie and The Tree Guys have worked on our property several times over the years, heavily pruning a bougainvillea that is intent on taking over our house and roof, trimming tree branches to shape our trees, and removing damaged trees when necessary. They are the only ones I call-- they know what they're doing, they communicate and explain throughout the entire process, they give you options and explain the pros and cons, and they are reliable. They come exactly when they say they will. PLUS they clean up thoroughly when they are finished AND are very reasonably priced. Really, what more could you ask for? I highly recommend them! read more

The Tree Guys trimmed and pruned our huge sycamore tree today. The crew was professional and amazingly efficient. 2 years ago, they did an exemplary job removing a 36" diameter sycamore in front of my house. With both jobs, they removed all debris and left absolutely no evidence that they were here at all. Luis, who I believe is the owner, personally came to provide the estimates and did an incredible job supervising his crew. I highly recommend The Tree Guys. And to boot, their prices are very competitive. read more

Tyler's crew did a great job trimming my difficult 15' high cypress tree hedge taking the time to get it even and trimmed as low as possible. They even chipped my 13 barrels of trimmings I did during the day Very reasonable price and very responsive to my calls and questions. I will be using them again read more

Office staff was friendly and helpful. Louie was attentive on the phone. Unfortunately, as we didn't know the proper tree-trimming jargon, when we asked to have our tree reduced by 30% so it wouldn't shade our solar panels, it was interpreted as thinning out the tree rather than shortening it. When we called to ask them to come back and correct the problem, Louie was polite and listened. I also pointed out to him, in a very nice way, that his crew was not attentive to dragging the debris through my yard and scratched my gate and damaged some plants. I did not ask for a refund for that, or any repairs to be done....just wanted him to ask his crew to be pay attention in the future to someone's home that they spent a lot of time making nice. He seemed agreeable that it was, as he said, a teaching moment for his crew. But when he came back with the crew to reduce the tree more, he was rude and accusatory and very upsetting to us. It was like he had a prejudice against us or a chip on his shoulder about something because he was angry and rude for apparently no reason when he arrived. For that reason alone we will never do business with this company again or refer them. A shame. read more

I've been using Bay Area Tree Co. for over 10 years to cut my pines, Oaks, Japanese Maples and Birch trees. They truly are the tree experts! Louie's estimates are fair and reasonable and he is extremely knowledgeable! Trees frame your home and having them pruned every two years can make a real difference to your property and yard. His crew is on time, professional, hard-working, diligent and aim to please! I was very impressed with their clean up. They paid special attention to the surrounding shrubbery, plants and flowers and nothing was damaged. These guys really pay attention to deal which I really appreciate. I also want to give a big "Shout Out" to their receptionist and scheduler, Alicia. She is friendly and courteous and makes you feel like you are her only client. I find that kind of greeting and customer service quite rare these days. I highly recommend this company. The crew just completed a job at my home today and I can hardly wait to see the results of their pruning this coming Spring. read more

Yup, these guys (and gals) are awesome. So glad I found them. Simple to work with. They came out to give an estimate and they held to it. They dropped of some cones to block off the street a few days prior. And there were in and out within a half of a day. Tree looks great. They didn't leave a trace behind. If I had another tree to prune I'd call. Price was very fair. Quality is high. And the fact that they call you back and show up on time. Awesome. read more

These guys rock! Friendly & professional crew. They show up on time as agreed, do the job right and are careful not to damage your property. Their rates are reasonable and are very willing to go the extra mile to ensure your satisfaction. Wish more businesses operated like they do. I'll use them in a heart beat when the need arises. Note: Look up your city rules when wanting to remove large trees, as many require permits (i.e. Heritage Tree). These guys can advise you as they deal with it all the time. read more

Really good work, excellent clean up, reasonable prices, knowledgeable about trees. We hired them to trim some dead and crossing branches off a massive live oak, and lift the canopy off some adjoining structures (fences, neighboring garages). We also had them remove a couple of melaleuca trees that didn't survive the drought. After inspecting the job and submitting a bid, they scheduled a time for a few weeks out. On the day of the appointment, they brought a crew of seven that worked efficiently all afternoon, and did a really impeccable job of removing the debris, down to the leaf. They returned a few days later to grind down the stumps. Really a pleasure to work with them. read more

My large backyard willow was drastically overgrown and needed a major pruning. I was concerned about the aesthetics of the results. From the advice I was given at the time of estimate visit to the final results I couldn't have had a better service. My tree , though considerable smaller, is balanced and beautiful. The job was done quickly and the cleanup was thorough and very impressive And the price was right! I would definitely calla them again if needed. read more
