These guys really know what they're doing! They showed up on time and did exactly what I asked them to do. I'm picky about how I want my queen palm trees trimmed and they were very careful not to damage my trees or the fruit trees and shrubs growing underneath. They have a very unique way of climbing the trees with a combination of ladders and ropes so I was pleased not to see any hook marks in my tree trunks! They were fast, safe, reasonably priced and cleaned up their mess so who could ask for more! read more

The guys at The Tree Guy are incredible. They arrived on time. i thought they were joking when they said about 40 minutes to remove a medium sized tree and severely prune 3 others. They weren't kidding! Within 40 minutes they removed the tree, every branch and stick, pruned 3 trees and removed every leaf, ground down the stump to dust, mulched every speck and even did an extremely thorough job of blowing debris (which was NOT theirs) off my front and back yards, side yard, porch and driveway. Another deserved 5-star review for The Tree Guy! Johnathan specializes not so much in tree services, but in customer satisfaction! He is ethical, extremely easy to work with, and is committed to leaving the customer with complete satisfaction. We recently contracted with him to have quite a bit of work done on our property. The crew worked as hard as anyone that I have ever seen. They did a great clean-up job, and asked for my approval before they left, which I gave. Later I discovered an issue that may have had more to do with incomplete instructions on our part, rather than the work that they performed. I spoke with Johnathan, and he immediately went into action, and scheduled one of his long-term employees to come to our home on a Sunday to remedy the issue. There was no debate about the scope of work that we had requested. He just took care of the problem, and with a cheerful demeanor. Jonathan and his crew did a wonderful job on trimming a HUGE avocado tree on our property. The job took all morning and most of the afternoon and by the time it was done a vast difference was made; our property actually looked larger! The tree was "candlesticked", meaning it was trimmed to the point of the main trunk with a few large limbs left on the sides. The tree will grow back but not nearly so large. What also impressed me was the care in which a crew member very neatly chamfered the cut off limb stubs so that the tree looked well finished. I would recommend The Tree Guy. read more

Jonathan and his crew did an excellent job of trimming our trees, removing a couple of dead bushes and clearing out weeds in the back yard. Our Italian Stone pine was a big concern to me as I wanted an arborist or experienced tree guy to trim it - the way it should look for our medium sized back yard. Not only did he do an amazing job on that pine, but he opened it up for more light and future growth. We were caught by the Thomas Fire and had a big sycamore tree fall on our garage and power line going to our house. The electrician was working to install a new meter box and SCE was replacing the telephone pole and feed wire to our house, so we needed to clear the path through the fallen tree to the house. I called Jonathan and he came out right away to look things over. He then cleared some of his other appointments and came back with a crew of 4-5 guys and removed the fallen branches and cleared the whole site in a few hours. Most of the tree is still standing, but the whole inside is burned out so the tree will have to be completely cut down. Our fear was that under these emergency situations that we would not find help and that some contractors might take advantage of us. Jonathan was honest and his fee was very reasonable! Jonathan is booked until the end of next month but he said he would reschedule some appointments to fit us in. Thank you, "The Tree Guy!" This is your man! You need a tree trimmed or removed, Jonathan is the guy to call. I'm a huge fan!

Jonathon was very responsive about coming over and giving a quote. I asked him how long it would take to clear my slope and how many workers he would have to work on my property. He told me it was about a 4-6 hour job with 4-5 guys at a cost of $1200. On the "high side" that equates to about $40 an hour per person, not including the removal/dumping fee. If I factored that in ($200 based on my experience), then the rate comes out to about $33 per hour per person. That seemed very reasonable to me, until he actually did the work. As it happened, I was on travel and my wife stayed home to "overlook" the slope clearing. In short, Johnathon showed up 3 hours late with only 3 guys and stayed about 3 hours, which equates to $111 an hour per person (that is a rip-off!). He left lots of trimmings, leaves and weeds that my daughter and I spent a full day cleaning up after (which was part of his job to my understanding). In addition, I have a drip system to all my plants (trying to be water responsible) and his workers hacked through ~50% of my drip lines leaving them running down the slope and not watering the plants...I am still repairing that. On a positive note, he seems to be a nice guy, but buyer beware and really watch over him (and his crew) to make sure he does what is says (probably like the other people did that wrote good reviews on him). I would have a hard time using him again without a much better understanding of what he is supposed to do along with hovering right over him and his crew. read more

I had Jonathan trim both my olive tree and Phoenix Palm. While trimming the Palm, although the shaving was going very well, he was not trimming what appeared to me to be enough frowns off. After a long discussion with Jonathan about the skimpy trimming and how dead frowns would appear soon, he assured me that he would return if any showed up in the next year. Well, the dead frowns they showed up in 2 months as I expected. After calling him, he said he be by next month. No show. Called again. Anther assurance he would be by in a couple of weeks. It's been now 10 months and he is nowhere to be found. all this after I gave hem an extra hundred for great clean up. So I would say "Beware" make sure you get all he promises before you pay as he is not good to his word. read more

I got several estimates for some work in my yard, and his was the most reasonable, and he came over right away and looked very professional, wearing a company shirt. Sounds like a small thing, but no one else did that. Then, when my job became an emergency (as in a dying tree falling on my carport!), Jonathan came right over and didn't jack up the price to "emergency" level. Because of the Thomas Fire, all the trees and shrubs on the hillside adjacent to our yard were either damaged or destroyed. The Tree Guy and his crew did an incredible job removing or trimming the trees in preparation for replanting. It was a huge project: removing eight massive eucalyptus trees, all over 100 feet tall, and the largest of which had trunks of over three feet in diameter. They also removed a host of smaller shrubs and trees that were badly damaged by the fire. The Tree Guy-- Jonathan--provided us with an extremely reasonable cost estimate for the job, and what I considered a very aggressive schedule for completion, in only three days. I never believed that the project could be completed in that length of time, but it was. At the end of the project, the crew did an excellent job of cleaning up all the debris that the operation had left. We were totally satisfied with the price and quality of the work. We have, and we will continue to recommend The Tree Guy to acquaintances who are planning tree trimming and removal. read more

I have used Jonathan twice now to remove trees from two different houses. He is an honest and fair business owner. He takes pride in his work and his workers. I had multiple quotes for about 13-15 25ft cypress trees in my backyard. He was very fair on his quote and ultimately chose him being I used him before. They showed up on time and within an hour all trees were cut down. I was blown away. Nothing broken or damaged. They guided down each tree with ease.
