I visited this this store after driving by and wondering about for many years and I was not disappointed. There was an array of items to peruse and the perfect gift for my daughter. I ended up but a long tote and its is absolutely perfect. I especially love it because I can put it over my should and it has a pocket for every thing I need. The owners were friendly. What a great gift store! It's on Fair Oaks near Sunrise, at the top of the hill. Lots of parking in their private lot. Only open certain days, so make sure to check before you go. They have lots of unique gift ideas, clothes, jewelry, home decor... They also have a large Iron Orchid Designs section and they have classes with IOD products. In the midst of this craziness Barbara is still willing to help us get supplies to work on projects while we are stuck at home. To be fair, some reviewers are reviewing the paint and not the store. I will review the store. If you like shabby chic and just farmhouse style and stuff in general you will love this store. It's just filled with items that you will want to buy. They have everything from candles to kitchen table sets. I bought a little Christmas chapel that is about as tall as a bottle of wine. It's so pretty that I want to leave it up all year. It was $35.00 which I thought was more than fair, it really added to my Christmas décor! As far as service I felt right at home, welcomed and the woman working there was so helpful and nice!! On top of that they offer classes which I will be taking soon. Operation total loss... I searched for Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in our area and "The Treasured Home" came up in my google search. I drove the 11 miles to Fair Oaks to pick up the paint, but when I got there I discovered it was actually, Amy Howard's One-Step--a misnomer for sure. Unfortunately, I took a chance and purchased the knock-off for a twin headboard/footboard project I was doing. I also purchased another color for some beside tables I wanted to do. I have used the Annie Sloan Chalk Paint on other projects with fantastic results. Very easy application--goes on as advertised and very durable. The Amy Howard One-Step was a disaster. Difficult to apply, thick, had small unincorporated lumps, showed visible thick brushstrokes, and dried so quickly it was difficult to apply evenly. In an attempt to be helpful the shop recommended using a spray bottle to increase fluidity (caused a crackle finish), sanding thick uneven areas (removed the paint completely), and diluting the paint (created a product that did not cover the piece and was prone to running). After hours of diluting, sanding, spritzing, attempting to re-paint, etc., the piece looked awful. I had to take it out to the store for advice and see if it could be rescued. They recommended the "wet sanding" at this point, and advised me that I may need to apply up to 4 coats of paint. I finally attempted the "wet sanding" and it just took off most of the first two coats of paint--minus the thick, crackled, running, lumpy stuff. I am very discouraged. By the way, the store would not take the other can of unopened paint back. I have no choice but to "chalk" this up as a total loss. $76.00 and a complete waste of time. This is a beautiful little shop that I love to visit regularly. The shop is constantly updated and is fun to look through to get ideas about farmhouse style decor and/or to find beautiful little gifts for family and friends. The owner and staff are welcoming and let you take your time looking around and never pressure you to buy anything. They also offer wonderful classes and can provide one-on-one support for painting projects at a reasonable cost. I hope this store stays around for a very long time. I love it. read more

This place is great! The store, as far as selling goods (apart from paint) is pretty small but if you are going for milk and/or chalk paint, the owner and employees there are phenomenal. They will answer all your questions as best they can and I felt like they were very knowledgeable. I went once to get chalk paint to paint a dresser. I was a little uneasy based on the one review that was already on Yelp but figured for a dressed being used as additional storage in the house, I would try it out. I had no problems whatsoever with the chalk paint by simply following the directions - 2-2/12 coats and maybe an hour to dry after the last coat of paint and I was ready to move the dresser inside. I went back again to find a chalk paint to "wash" over an existing piece of furniture and they didn't quite have the color I was looking for, however, the owner mixed a couple together in the store to give me an idea of the color palette I could get with the particular colors and pretty much nailed it, so I bought more chalk paint. I will say, the chalk paint is not cheap; HOWEVER, chalk paint doesn't require any prep but a wipe down. Having refinished furniture before, this was a big seller. The time it saved me being no prep, not having to worry about staining or stripping was huge and I didn't have to pay for stripping chemicals and/or sand paper either. I will continue to use chalk paint and I will continue to shop for it at the Treasured Home - thank you! read more

I Purchased the miss mustard seed milk paint in tricycle red from thetreasuredhome.com. I had finally found the color I was looking for to transform an old dinning room table. I could not find it anywhere as it was sold out at most local retailers. When I had finally found it at a retailer in California I was ecstatic. Unfortunately, they had just ran out of the tricycle red color also. Very quickly after I had placed my order I was informed that they had ran out of the color I had ordered and that I can either wait for the order to come in or have my purchase refunded to me. Although I was disappointed at first, I decided to be patient and wait for the paint to come in and I am glad I did. I was very pleased with the quick and courteous customer service I received from the owner Barbara. She was quick to respond to all of my emails and expedited the order as quickly as possible. Not a fan anymore. I really liked this store at first, they have some really cute stuff. The issue I have is that the owner is not a very friendly lady. Rarely even says hi when I go in, but as soon as I turn the corner to an area she can't see, she comes over pretending to sweep or fluff stuff but is watching me like I'm going to steal something. It's definitely an uncomfortable feeling. Never a "thanks for coming" or "have a nice day," she just watches you until you leave. Unfortunately I won't be going back. Cottage Girls and Dandelions in Carmichael are a much better option, super sweet ladies with great customer service that own those two shops. Check them out instead! read more

It was my first time at this shop today, and I had a great experience. The shop is very clean, well decorated, cozy, and absolutely does not smell like paint. The employees do not idly sit waiting for customers but are busy lightly sanding and painting new items right in the store. I was a little surprised at the "No cell phones" sticker on the door as I use my cell phone for my shopping checklist, to take reference and review photos, and to make phone calls regarding a product. I bought two small containers of chalk paint at around $16 each, and my sister bought a clever wall hanging. The woman who checked us out was friendly and helpful. I tried the paint at home on a bare piece of lightly sanded white wood, carefully following all directions. The paint went on well, there were a few small clumps, but these can be sanded, and I'm going for the distressed look anyway. One coat had good coverage, but I will do a second coat for complete coverage. In the summer heat, it only took a minute for the paint to feel dry to the touch. I got a discount for signing up on their website. They also offer classes, and the paint colors they carry are vibrant and current. I would come back here in the future. read more

I just took a paint class from Barbara. Fabulous class. We used Amy Howard "at Home" one step paint. I was so pleased with the outcome of my project. I would recommend this class to anyone interested updating or refreshing their decor. Barbara was very patient and explained the process thoroughly. The paint and wax process is quick and easy. One thing i noticed after I got home was the wax application was completely dry. On other products, it takes a long time for the wax to become non sticky. read more
