4/14/26 3:15 p.m…read more Online Order for Pick Up Food: We were very excited to try the food here, but we weren't too impressed, unfortunately. We ordered a Caesar Wrap w/chicken, Chicken Pesto w/no cherry tomatoes, Firehouse Chimichurri w/steak and no cherry tomatoes, Chocolate Smoothie, and Farmer's Punch. For starters, all of the produce was fresh and crisp (which is always a plus), but you can tell that meat is not their forte. The chicken tasted as if it were precooked, frozen chicken (not saying that's a bad thing, just didn't seem as if it was freshly cooked), and the steak was full of almost inedible gristle. The overall flavor of the food was pretty lackluster as well, besides on the Chicken Pesto; the balsamic vinaigrette was very overpowering. The Caesar Wrap was large, but the sandwiches were quite small portion-wise. The Chocolate Smoothie tasted more like a green smoothie with chocolate protein powder, and we had a really hard time keeping it mixed; sadly, we didn't finish it :( The Farmer's Punch, on the other hand, was really good! Service: The service wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. The person who greeted us was friendly, but not particularly social, if that makes sense? It almost seemed as if they didn't have enough time for us. They were polite and quick with getting our order to us, though. Ambiance: Inside is quite small and not meant for a dine-in experience; there are no tables at all. This is definitely a pick-up/to-go/drive-through type of establishment. It's kept very clean, though, from what we could see.

I'd like to come back in a few months to see if they polished up the final product. Except for their mimosa beer (mango blonde?)--that was perfection. Wow. That was a good beer! And it tasted just like--you guessed it--a mimosa. Also, they specialize in biscuits and gravy with biscuits made from the spent grains (from the beer-making process). How freaking cool is that?! What a novel idea! So we chowed down on biscuits and gravy while drinking our beer, and then, we had a thin mint cheesecake from the bakery next door for dessert. I'm 99% sure this brewery was made especially for me with three of my favorites: beer, biscuits and gravy, and cheesecake. Oooooooh man! You bet I'll be back. What a gem for Huxley, Iowa!

If they were across the street from each other, I wouldn't be sure which of them were the better Iowa "performer". It was last Sunday that I was driving my 93 year-old Dad down and around the Lincoln Highway. As we entered Ne-VAY-duh (Iowa), I was reminded that my current home is Genoa Ne-VAD-uh. It's actually easy to remember, once you're at either place. The Lincoln Highway sign at the Nevada (Iowa) city limits also tells the story. Anyway, this is a long winded review about filling up with gasoline at a convenient local gas station as father and son explore local downtowns, with a lot of farm land in-between, and usually either a gravel or paved road every mile across endless 640 acre sections. Also in Iowa and mainly due to corn ethanol subsides, premium grade is "cheaper". Our short self-serve trip was "Good & Quick". As other reviewers have noted, there's good mini-mart selections inside, in addition to the broasted chicken option.

Starting off there are so so many options for BBQ lovers and people that may have more limited tastes. They offer classic smoked meats, salads, fried chicken, sandwiches and some more creative options like BBQ nachos, brisket Mac and cheese, bomber-ritos (a variety of meats, hash browns, cheddar, jalapeño corn, your choice of sauce wrapped in a tortilla) and taco fabuloso (what we ordered pictured) The prices are a STEAL for the amount and quality of what you get. BBQ definitely adds up and can hurt your wallet, but that is not the case here. The tacos has a GENEROUS amount of pulled pork, flavorful, tender, and juicy. We stopped off just for a snack, and I was full after 1! In regards to their catering, I've heard nothing but great things and they've won several awards. Unlike some catering companies, they are transparent about their prices and it's a fantastic deal! Not going to break the bank no matter what type of event you're having.
