Their menu is refreshingly simple -- burgers, fries, shakes -- and that simplicity tells me they know exactly what they do well. Everything is made to order, and the consistency shows. The Ace burger is my go-to, and it delivers every time. The shoestring fries are excellent, and the sweet potato tots are another favorite. I've also treated myself to a milkshake here and there, and they're worth it. Fun bonus: they offer "boozy shakes" for adults, which adds a playful twist -- just note they have to be enjoyed on site. They also keep a short, rotating list of beers, which I appreciate. It's curated, not overwhelming. One thing I noticed recently -- and as a fellow marketer, I have to applaud this -- is their milkshake happy hour from 2-4 PM. That's a smart strategy to drive traffic during slower hours between lunch and dinner. Simple, effective, and well executed. A few practical notes: Parking can be a little tight because the lot behind the restaurant is small, but if you go during off-peak hours or order ahead for pickup, it's manageable. The Belmont neighborhood location is easy to get in and out of, and while it's not a high-traffic pedestrian area, that can actually work in your favor. Bottom line: As someone who grew up with West Coast burger culture, this is the closest I've found in Charlotte to that classic, satisfying bite -- even if it costs a bit more than In-N-Out. The quality and execution make it worth it. Get out there, eat well, be curious -- and follow me as I continue eating my way through Charlotte.

The menu is simple but consistently good. All of the burgers I have tried so far have been incredibly tasty, and they also feature a rotating burger of the day to keep things interesting. The Sticky Nugs are by far the absolute standout menu item. That being said, I am still going to say we need a petition to bring the Ricky Bobby flavor back! It was left off after the recent menu change, but if they bring it back, it will easily be a fan favorite all over again. In the meantime, they do have a rotating specialty flavor, so be sure to ask the staff about the current option! Like most area craft beer events, the selection of Carolina (and beyond) craft beer was impressive. We had 30 or so brewers to choose from and the types and styles on tap were so diverse, there was little chance of sipping the same thing twice. Unlike many of the other craft beer events, Moo and Brew has a few key things going for it. First, Paschal Promotions, who organized the event for Creative Loafing Charlotte, did a phenomenal job. Parking at this facility is free and second to none; entry to the facility was efficient and quick. The setup inside was also exceptionally well done and included lots of convenience facilities and spread out the crowd across the entire length of the park. Now, the lack of seating once inside was a bit annoying. I have a hard time standing throughout an entire event. When you add in food and the inability to sit and eat...I'm not a fan. Speaking of eating, the second big positive of Moo & Brew is the burgers. They have a best burger competition that included 4 area burger joints, including American Burger Company, Bang Bang, Bad Daddy's, and Ale House. I was able to try 3 of the 4 burger joints (did not try Ale House). I liked them all, but the American Burger Company was my pick: Bang Bang took the title for the 2nd year in a row. The Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina was the events charity of choice again. They are a great cause and I had a chance to chat with Nancy, the organization's spokesperson about how much they appreciate the support of the sponsors and patrons. Good people. There was a lot to do at the event. The music was there, but I wasn't paying to much attention to the various acts. I heard the Truckstop Preachers towards the end and I liked what they offered up. I could have survived with a DJ and been just as happy. You are moving around so quickly you kind of run by the stage area without taking a glance. Lack of seating, once again, made me not want to loiter in front of live music. The VIP admission gets you in a full hour and a half before the General Admission. VIP costs $65 and included the burgers. For this event I think paying $65 (unless you can get it cheaper through a Groupon or other ...wink...wink) is well worth it. General Admission is $45 and doesn't include the food. $45 is a bit steep for General...and no food, less time, more crowds. All in all, I give this event 4-stars. Lack of seating was the only big drawback. Regardless, I'll be back.
