I used to really like this veterinary clinic. The veterinarians were always caring, and my dog's…read moreexams were done in the exam room with me present, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, my most recent visit was a completely different experience. This appointment was my dog's annual checkup after he had recently survived a very serious illness. Because of everything he'd been through, I wanted to be involved in his exam and have the opportunity to discuss his recovery with the veterinarian. After we were placed in an exam room, the technician told me she was taking my dog to the back for a heartworm test and would be right back. Instead, more than 20 minutes passed. When she finally returned, I learned that his physical exam had already been completed and all of his vaccines had already been given while he was in the treatment area. The veterinarian did come into the exam room afterward, but by then I was so surprised and upset that the entire exam had already taken place without me that I wasn't able to have the conversation I had been hoping for. After everything my dog had recently been through, I had expected to be present for his examination and to discuss his recovery before it was over. To make matters worse, some of the information the technician relayed to the veterinarian was inaccurate, which only reinforced my concern that I wasn't included in the conversation about my dog's health. The following day, I received an automated text asking how Jack was doing. I replied by explaining my concerns about the appointment and how disappointed I was with the experience. I never received a response or acknowledgment from anyone at the clinic. Veterinary care is expensive, and I'm happy to pay for quality care. But I also expect to be part of my dog's examination and to have direct communication with the veterinarian, especially after a major medical event. I don't know why the clinic changed its procedures, but this experience was a significant step backward from the level of care and communication I had come to expect.

I want to share my experience with Caring Hands Veterinary Hospital (13741 Colorado Blvd, Thornton,…read moreCO) this past August 2025. Decades ago, I used them as my vet clinic, but they became too high in cost than other offices closer to me. It took me a long time to contemplate how I wanted to approach the unethical business practices happening at this business. On August 13, 2025, I contacted them about euthanasia for Noel, my almost 18-year-old kitty. At the time, Noel's health went down rapidly in a matter of 2 days. On that day, I made the difficult decision to have her humanely euthanized. I made a call to my established veterinary office and they were unable to schedule an appointment that day so I made calls to several vet offices looking for available appointments, but also getting price quotes, since we all need to be price conscious during these difficult times. Even though, Caring Hands Veterinary Hospital was priced higher, I chose to use their services. WHAT A MISTAKE! A friend and I were placed in a room after standing in their lobby for an extended amount of time after we arrived. In the room, while we waited to have the vet euthanize Noel, the vet tech managed the financial part of the transaction - IN THE EXAMINATION ROOM! My friend and I were crying our eyes out while I held on to Noel tightly for the last time and the amount charged was significantly HIGHER than what I was quoted on the phone. I wasn't in a position to leave and go to another clinic close by or the emergency vet hospital. Noel wasn't doing well, and I didn't want her to suffer. I value transparency and integrity in veterinary care, and I was disappointed to encounter price gouging or, at the very least, a failure to honor a clearly communicated quote. A week later or so, I called and eventually spoke to the office manager and explained the situation. I requested a refund to match the quoted price, and she was unreasonable about the situation. She acknowledged that a new employee provided the quote but was unwilling to honor it. She even told me the new employee would be disciplined because of the error. At that point, I mentioned perhaps coaching was a better choice. This experience left me feeling misled and financially strained, especially since I made decisions based on the information provided to me. I was very deliberate when I obtained and documented the quotes. I had each office's quotes written down giving a notebook page to each one I called. I asked the same questions to each office to make sure I had an accurate picture of what to expect before making the decision on what clinic to use. The total price they charged was $655.50 which included euthanasia, cremation with her ashes returned and the cremation urn. These charges were approximately $150 higher than originally quoted. Given my experience and what I feel was an exploitation of my grief, I would NEVER consider using Caring Hands Veterinary Hospital again. **UPDATE** - The Office Manager emailed and called me today (November 10th) offering me a full refund. I wonder why it had to come to this? It's sad that these small community businesses are being bought by these uncaring corporate businesses.

A week or so later I saw the reviews that said the facility is very dirty and never cleaned. Nearly every time we picked up our puppy he smelled so bad we had to take him immediately to the dog wash next door. On week two our puppy had contracted pink eye. We took him to the vet and got medication which was expensive because they have to do eye staining. On week four we received an email saying a very aggressive respiratory illness was going around the facility. We were concerned and called to ask about this but the staff was very evasive with answers stating that "they aren't vets". We never took him back to the facility again after the email. Three days after he began coughing. We immediately took him to the vet and he was diagnosed with kennel cough. It has now been three weeks and he is still sick. Yesterday he was diagnosed with pneumonia. Our vet bills are now in the thousands from this. We called city bark several times to ask what to expect from other dogs who had been infected but could never get any straight answers. It's been extremely frustrating and handled unprofessionally. Our dog is only 6 months old and not neutered yet and therefore was not allowed in group play so it was contracted just from being in a kennel. I believe this must be from the facility not being properly cleaned.

My dog, Bruce, has been there several times before without any issues, so we trusted them with his care. After his most recent stay, he came home with kennel cough. At first, it was just a cough, but within a few days he became lethargic, wasn't eating or drinking normally, and we ended up taking him to the vet. Shortly after, our second dog also started coughing, and we had to seek veterinary care for both dogs. The vet bills have been expensive, and it's been stressful watching both of our dogs get sick. My wife mentioned the situation in the survey we received, and I also reached out directly to City Bark in hopes of discussing the situation and finding a reasonable resolution. Unfortunately, I never received a response. I understand that illnesses can sometimes spread anywhere dogs gather, and I know no facility can guarantee that every dog will remain healthy. What disappointed me most wasn't just that my dog became sick--it was the complete lack of communication afterward. A simple response, some empathy, or even a conversation about the situation would have gone a long way. Based on my experience, I can't recommend City Bark. I expected better communication and customer service when a serious concern was brought to their attention.

We wanted to address the behavior early rather than let it become more established, so within about six weeks of it starting, we enrolled her in a board-and-train program. We ultimately decided to put both of our Aussies through separate programs: both females, one five years old and the other about a year and a half. The difference has been night and day. Both dogs now have reliable recall, walk calmly on leash, and for the first time, we feel genuinely confident having them off leash. They no longer react to wildlife or other dogs on hikes, the fence running and excessive barking have stopped, and they can calmly sit with us at outdoor cafes and other dog-friendly public spaces. The "place" command has been especially valuable. They can settle calmly for extended periods, which has been a true game changer both at home and when we're out with them. Most importantly, both dogs seem more confident because they understand what is expected of them. My husband and I are also much more consistent and aligned in how we communicate with them and provide the structure they need to be successful. We've enjoyed continuing to work with them every day and building on the foundation Juliet provided. The overall atmosphere in our home is noticeably calmer, more harmonious, and far less frustrating for both us and the dogs. Juliet has also continued to follow up and check in to make sure the dogs are doing well, which is something you don't always see once a training program is finished. It's a tangible sign that she genuinely cares about the dogs' long-term success, and it has reinforced for us that this was absolutely the right investment for our family.

Two of them are my problem children: a Rottweiler mix foster fail who is reactive to bikes and other dogs and occasionally nervous around people like visiting contractors or UPS men, and the other is a 100+ lb Brazilian mastiff rescue from Aruba who is not fond of other dogs. The two of them began showing increasingly worse dog aggression toward other dogs on the trail and while camping, and had attacked several dogs by the time I found Loyal Hound/Juliet. I was at my wit's end, because I had already spent thousands of dollars and tried everything including other trainers at that point with little to no progress. I felt stuck with 2 big problems for the next 6-8 years. I hike at least 3 miles every single day off leash on the trails by my house, and I love to camp with my dogs in the summer, but they became such a liability that walks became stressful and camping became impossible. I finally found Juliet with Loyal Hound, and for our very first session we met at a crowded park and were going to be doing off leash training right away. I was so nervous -- all the triggers were present: other people with dogs on leashes, dogs off leashes, people on bikes, squirrels -- so I was absolutely AMAZED when we were walking my Rottweiler off leash through a gaggle of geese, past people on bikes, and past other dogs within a few minutes with no problems. It was nothing short of a miracle. Within a few sessions, I had both of my dog aggressive dogs walking on and off leash next to me, passing other dogs (sometimes dogs that were even barking at them) on trails safely with no reactivity. I cannot explain in words how much of a difference this has made in my life -- I feel like I got my life back. If you have a dog aggressive dog, this is the place to go. It's WELL worth the investment, and you will be amazed at the difference you will see in your dog. Thank you Loyal Hound & Juliet!!

She is the goodest girl now - not that she wasn't before - she is just so much better now. All of this training was done with a lot of knowledge and a lot of love from Training Wheels. I also use Training Wheels for boarding Lemon. She gets so much positive attention and interaction. I was a bit hesitant at first because there are a lot of big dogs, but the times that I have boarded her, there have been dogs her size to play with and the bigger dogs play in a different area. For sleeping, she gets her own area (with door) with plenty of space for her bed and toys and then an area for going potty, should she need to in the night (Italian Greyhounds have hamster bladders, haha). The building where she sleeps and takes naps is temperature controlled and she is surrounded by other dogs in their areas, so is never alone. There are multiple outside play areas - and they designate which areas are for which size dog, and the dogs are always supervised. Training Wheels staff are always with the dogs and interacting with the dogs. They send pics of my happy dog playing outside and running and having just the best time. I feel that my tiny dog Lemon is very safe and happy there. I can't recommend Training Wheels enough for both training and boarding. Lemon is SO well taken care of and loved.

My dog was severely injured and almost lost her eye due to negligence on their end. After speaking with the animal hospital I was advised that MANY dogs come to the hospital with a variety of injuries and that CO Dog Academy is not transparent when injuries occur. The Kennel is known as having a "sketchy" reputation and the fact they don't have cameras is a huge red flag. Pat the owner was incredibly combative with me when I asked him to pay for the vet bill. He offered $500 and I asked how he came up with that amount when the cost of treatment was triple that amount. He said I had no proof they were responsible. What I believe happened is that the old rusty door that leads to the outside kennel fell and trapped my dog by her neck (they found grease all over her). As a result, eye proptosis occurred (very painful injury where the eye pops out) I'm so disappointed with how CO Dog Academy handled this matter. I'll Post pics on yelp.
