TL; DR. Nice tile, nice work, nasty sales staff and terrible communicationonce the sale is made. 2nd TL; DR: don't think the tile you order is what you will get - it's your responsibility to go to the store and verify pre installation. We weren't told that. Mostly I'm writing this to save someone else from our situation. Our project turned out fine in terms of craftsmanship, but we ended with tile we hadn't picked out. We worked with a salesman and picked out 3 sets of tile...the backsplash was specifically chosen bcs it had subtle yellow tones. When the tile installer came out with the tile, it didn't look like the tile we had ordered. It was gray tone and not yellowed. I double checked all the paper work, and called the store and everything matched. I thought I must have remembered wrong. So, I visited the Tile Shop to see the tile first hand, and that's where the events happened that makes me give them a big BUYER BEWARE. The first salesman who approached me was downright nasty when I explained the situation to me. He told me they don't make mistakes, and that's why I should order the amount of tile they recommend. (Makes no sense about color.) He was so rude I didn't want to talk to him and I found the original salesman. He agreed the tile shade was different and shrugged his shoulders. He told me basically that it had been my responsibility to come in and check the tile they ordered for me before it left the store. No one had ever told us that. We purchased tile from Anthony at The Tile Shop in Bloomington 18 months ago. We went in to purchase the same tile for 2 other rooms in our home last week. We gave them the SKU from our last order to order the same tile again. The order wasn't put in our name, we weren't called for our delivery and thankfully my husband was home so the pallet wasn't left in the rain. He was also billed for miscellaneous supplies for the installer, which we didn't ask for and the installer didn't need. We came home Sunday night and our installer had started to lay out the tile, to find that it wasn't the same tile. 1.75" wider, different texture and entirely different color. We called on Sunday during business hours, and were told by the store manager Aaron that there might be some variation from the manufacturer 1/16"-1/8" and that we would have to wait for a call from Anthony until the following morning. Anthony then told my husband Monday morning that they switched manufacturers and it was our fault since we gave him the SKU. We could return the unopened boxes to get a refund (and be stuck with the cost of the open boxes) and find new tile (of course not a stocked item). This would delay our remodel at least 7-10 days. We were told that it was OUR fault that the order was wrong because we provided them with the SKU from our last purchase there. (how is that our fault-how were we to know the item was changed?) My husband asked what kind of discount we could get since we are basically stuck with a tile that we didn't select. We were told verbatim by Tony, "Well you said that you have other projects to do so I'll give you a good price on that tile. What incentive would The Tile Shop have if I discounted what you've already purchased since you probably won't order here again?" Well there is one guarantee-we will not ever do business with The Tile Shop in Bloomington, and I will make sure to tell every person who needs tile to go somewhere else. read more

Really needs to work on the customer service. 1. gave my email address for the receipt and even spelled it out. What happens? wrong email address & no receipt. 2. I called them to find out status of order as it was late 3. went to pick up and order wasn't fully there, was promised a call to notify me when it would be in. 4. I called them to find out status of order as it was late, again 5. They still hadn't ordered the damn missing piece. WTF. How hard is this? There are businesses all over the country who are starving for paying customers. When you get one, don't you want to make sure you keep them? The one star is simply because I can't give them less and I actually like the tile that we got. Beyond that, fire up your kiln if you have one. read more

I second Nicole's review that The Tile Shop (Bloomington) must be babysat. We ordered tile that we were really excited about and the wrong tile color came in. Our contractor installed the tile without us realizing it and we have a color we did not choose on our kitchen walls. It is beautiful, quality tile, but The Tile Shop put the wrong order in and we unfortunately took the fall. After speaking with the manager, we were told that we could get the correct tile, but they would not cover the contractor expense to remove and replace. We requested a refund of the current, unwanted tile to which the manger said it was out of his control whether we could get a refund, but he could submit a complaint to the corporate office. We have not heard anything from them after they promised to call us. It's unfortunate, because you go to The Tile Shop for premium customer service, but that is not what we encountered. read more

First off I just want to say that I got a guy who gives me free tile. I filled up the bed of my 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 Duramax 3 times with that free tile. Although i have only laid 4 tiles in the basement that I started tiling 15 years ago, I still enjoy telling everybody "I got a guy." My husband and I have had a long, frustrating experience dealing with The Tile Shop. We originally went in to the Roseville store to look at tile and took home a few samples. We called our order in a few days later and picked it up when it came in. So far so good. Once we laid it out in our space our natural stone tile ended up looking noticeably different than the sample so we decided to order another four boxes and pick out the best of the bunch for our project and return the rest. I went into the Bloomington Tile Shop, nearer to our home, to talk to a sales person about options and place an order. We went through things in great detail, even calling home to check the lot number of the tile we had to see if what was in the warehouse was from a different batch or not. We needed the tile as quickly as possible so the salesperson ordered it into the Burnsville location as that meant we could get it one day sooner. Like the first time, we were going to get an email when our order arrived the next Tuesday. Our project was on hold now but it was our decision to order more tile, it was okay. On Tuesday no email came so later in the day my husband called the store and was told that if we didn't get an email, our tile wasn't in. This person didn't check the on the computer to see. No email the next day either so I called the salesperson I ordered from and he said, "Oh yeah, it was in yesterday. I was sick, I'm sorry I couldn't let you know." Well, what about the store sending us an email? Or why didn't the person my husband talked to simply type a few clicks into the computer and check? Well, the whole point of Burnsville was to get the tile a day earlier but now we had to drive all the way down there from south Mpls for no benefit. We couldn't make the drive until Thursday and I had to squeeze it in before a dr appt in SLP. I had them load the tile and drove as fast as I could to my appt as it was a long drive and I was running late. The next day my husband and I both came down with influenza and he wasn't able to load the tile into our house and inspect it until Sunday night. It was the wrong tile. It had a honed finish, we had ordered polished. We were so stunned and so annoyed. Our project was getting pushed further back, this time from incompetence from The Tile Shop. The next day my husband called the Bloomington store and expressed his immense frustration. My husband asked for a discount for our trouble but the manager went on and on about how that wasn't possible but if my husband wanted to call back later and talk to the salesperson who entered the order in wrong, maybe he could do something. No, just no. My husband just wanted to be done dealing with these people as quickly as possible, the discount wasn't important. Any decent shop would have offered but The Tile Shop isn't the most respectable operation. Another order was placed and when my husband went to pick up the tile he tried to buy grout. They wouldn't sell him any! These people work TOTALLY commission and would not sell my husband a product he was politely asking to buy. They told him to go to Menards and get a specific product. This product ended up being very, very expensive so my husband got something different that is just what we needed for a reasonable price. That whole thing was just weird. In the end, we're happy with the tile we chose, and it looks beautiful in our space. The pricing was as good or better than anywhere else but the hassle and the poor customer service by management left us with a really bad taste in our mouths. If you use The Tile Shop, baby-sit every aspect of your order and don't expect professional service, even when problems arise that are the store's fault. We're so glad to be done with them. read more
