I am a local contractor, having done business in Durango for over 20 years. This year doing a…read morekitchen remodel, my client wanted a flooring product from Riteway Carpet and Tile. The day after installation, an area of the flooring that was getting direct sunlight through a bay window had swelled enough for the locking seams to come apart. I went to RF&C and explained the situation. They didn't have anyone available with the authority to check out the situation but said they would in a couple days. I waited, no one showed up, no phone calls, no response what so ever, so I removed the subject tile and replaced it with a ceramic tile. Problem solved. I asked for a refund on the material that didn't work. They had 2 suggestions, 1)glue down the flooring which was a floating floor and not to be glued down, or 2)put a curtain over the window to stop the sun from shining in. I did not consider these to be aceptable solutions. I spent a little over $800 on the flooring, after 3 mionths, was offered a little under $500 for it. Also claiming a restocking fee. They aren't going to restock this, or atleast they shouldn't. I was also told that the company that made the product did acknowledge problems in certain situations. In fairness to them, this was a new product that they were unfamiliar with so they were unaware of the potential problem, but I felt that once they were aware of it, they should have refunded the money money spent, and learned from the application. I wasn't asking for anything for my wasted labor installing the tile, or removing it, or my several trips to the store to get the problem resolved. I would never do business here again, and am sure I would be unwelcome if i were to return. I would recommend to anyone to look elsewhere for there flooring products. I have been in this business for nearly 40 years and have never had a reputable business treat me like this.
