Jaaron showed me the computer program that would take us through it all. It started with selections showing what the choices were standards and upgrades and a deadline for making each choice. There was a place for any questions and I had an answer almost instantly If I needed clarification I could speak to them. Anything I was uncomfortable with they made suggestions. I decided and they followed through and it was all in writing, no chance for misunderstanding. No surprises on price. The program provided a schedule for each step. The standard choices were excellent. My favorite brand of appliances, the best brand of paint, tile carpeting, woods for cabinets. Our request for rounded instead of square corners no problem. We moved in on time. They helped us with the punch list adding items I had not noticed. Dan Cates and John Fitgerald were always on property when we came by to check on progress. My experience with SilverPick can be characterized by poor workmanship, little to no supervision of…read moresubs, lack of accountability, and a failure to stand behind their work. I hired Jaaron Mankins and SilverPick Contracting to build my custom home in Falls Creek Ranch in 2018. Once I paid the final invoice, I spent the next nine months chasing him down to get warranty and unsatisfactory work completed. Some of the "lowlights" of our experience follow: 1. I was presented an invoice for a bath tub which was scratched by his crew during construction. When I questioned this, he responded in an e-mail: "Sometimes things get damaged during the (construction) process. If you prefer, I can add my 20% (mark-up) to this line item as well." I was in Phoenix at the time and when I got back to Durango to inspect the work, I found the scratches I had asked to be repaired were still there. Several months later and only after multiple requests/denials, was I refunded. Ultimately, I paid out of my own pocket to have the tub repaired. 2. I was charged for punch list items which Jaaron refused to itemize. When I asked him to itemize, his response in an e-mail was "it's not my job to regurgitate exact items completed." 3. On 1/30/19 Jaaron came to my home to do a walk through and review the punch list items that remained. He was extremely adversarial and refused to allow me to discuss any items or even allow me to walk around my home with him. Later that day, he refused nearly all of our warranty requests--most of which he later validated. I can only speculate as to why he behaved this way. I have an audio recording of this encounter. 4. The interior paintwork was very poor quality. Both bedrooms upstairs had to re-textured and re-painted. Much of the remainder of the house had to be re-painted as well. Over the course of about five months, Jaaron sent out four different painting crews to take a crack at fixing all the paint issues. As a result, there are multiple different finishes on the walls and trim. Again, as with most other warranty requests, he repeatedly denied and refused to complete the work for several months. 5. He repeatedly refused to replace my wooden front door that has four large panes of glass. The glass had been scratched by his subcontractor during the sanding/finishing process. He blamed it on me because he claimed the door had shrunk because I did not get him my stain color choice in a timely manner, which doesn't even make sense. Nearly 11 months later, I finally got a new door. 6. He allowed water damaged trim to be installed throughout my home, then denied that it was water damaged until I showed him photographic evidence of the trim sitting out in the rain covered by cardboard. Jaaron finally did replace some of the damaged trim.

I also hired him to replace locks and doorknobs on 2 doors. The re-enamel work was a disaster and left my tub ruined. The caulk/grout work must all be re-done. The locks on the doors don't work properly. The neighbor downstairs sustained ceiling damage from a water leak that occured during the "repair" process. I asked for and have not received a refund (I stupidly paid in full as I was going out of town and trusted Luke to return and complete the job). I now have to replace my bathtub - it is unrepairable at this point due to pitting and other issues that occured during the removal of original enamel. The grout and caulking that he left me with is unbelievable - literally smeared on. I also have to replace the tile (tile because the old tile has to be taken out to get the tub out) and also am responsible for the repairs to my neighbors ceiling. I have tried communicating with Mr Luke Miller mulitple times and he is unresponsive. My promised refund has not arrived - it was promised 4 weeks ago. I am extremely disappointed, have lost $1,300 and have to do a major renovation now rather than the simple repairs I had hoped for. This person is completely incompetent and should not be in business.

Avoid Shubert Plumbing like the plague. They falsify their estimates, inflate their bills with…read morefalse material and labor costs, and overcharge their customers time and again. We have a plumbing system Shubert worked on with the prior owners so we kept them to work on it. So Shubert gave us a $9,000 estimate to repair pipes upstairs which grew to $16,000 with no change in scope when the work was done. They have done this to us a couple of times now, and we are done working with Shubert and team. Recently, Shubert claimed to need 3 plumbers all day (aka 8hrs each) to replace a hot water heater. They were here for 4 hours for the install and two plumbers were idle most of the time. After the install we still did not have hot water, they left the old water heater in the driveway for almost a month and left a black sludge on the garage floor for a month. And they wanted to get paid before taking a month to finally finish the job. Avoid these folks at all costs!!

DJ was very unprofessional, verbally abusive and confrontational when reminded of areas he forgot…read moreto do, per contract. The quality of his painting was totally substandard, having painted over areas that he didn't even prep, leaving uneven surfaces and large dents. He abandoned the job after only 1 week of work, leaving my home only 1/3 painted. I had to take him to small claims court, as he had already collected half of the money before he even started. I won the judgement for breach of contract. He has yet to honor the court order. If you choose to use him, I highly recommend creating an addendum that is very specific to what you and he discussed at your 1st visit, and have it signed by him. Otherwise, he will argue at every turn that he is not doing an area because "it's not in the contract". He is clever enough to write his contract in an extremely vague manner so he can rely on the phrase "it's not in the contract", that he parroted on a constant basis. Thankfully, I had an addendum with specifics for each room that he signed. However, this did not stop him from challenging every single thing. He is exhausting, not reliable, confrontational, unprofessional, and a substandard painter.
