I've also been able to find decent items for my home. One item in particular is my Queen Ann reclining chair. I love it! Although I have to fight for it with one of my cats; she thinks it's HER chair! I highly recommend this store to anyone who needs to buy on a budget. Why pay more than you have to?

I got ABSOLUTELY stunned TODAY at Salvation Army. i have BEEN DONATING to Goodwill heavily each…read moreand every year for over 40 years and a great portion of my things were NEW (still tagged) or very gently used since my parents taught me to take care of all my things. This year after having dug deep into how they use their monies and how they handle putting donations on the shelves!!!! I decided they would NEVER ever get one more item from me so today i boxed up 4-5 large boxes along with with some loose pillows and things and drove to the Salvation Army Thrift store in Strongsville. I had visited this site 4-5 weeks ago to see how THEY operate, the kinds of things they have on their shelves and how knowledgeable and helpful employees were. Much to my chagrin today, i walked in the rear entry door with my first box where no one greeted me nor were there more than 1-2 folks within earshot for me to call out to. The ENTIRE back room where their donated goods was overloaded and in a SHAMELESS shambles. I saw no one with any sense of urgency. I continued with the rest of my boxes and items placing them where i thought they would fit, not FALL OVER and left in a huff. There were 'prepared receipts' on clipboards for anyone to fill in what they want for IRS donations. Big Brother is apparently not watching. The retail store is scantily stocked when they could be loading up their shelves and making real some money but no, disinterested folks are lolling around talking to each other about last evenings tv show. Apparently, nobody has any needs in the poorer sections of Cleveland Ohio since nobody HERE had any interest in their jobs nor helping the less fortunate. I could run rings around the folks in this store, organize it, load up the retail store and help others. I worked for an international non profit for almost 20 years so i know how it gets done. I will never return to this store or any other Salvation Army (bellringers included) nor Goodwill. I will seek out a more needy organization who uses, appreciates and cares about donations.

Common Threads is a very nice thrift shop, there are 2 locations a larger store in Fairview park…read moreand the medium sized store in Brookpark near the airport. This store is located in a large shopping plaza, plenty of parking in front. The store itself is well organized and breaks down about 50%/50% between clothing and home goods. Up front as you come in you will find some furniture and plenty of interesting pieces. There is usually one or two displays in the front windows. On the left side of the store you will find a nice selection of decor pieces, kitchenware and other assorted housewares. The right side of the store is women's clothes up front with men's clothes in the back. The clothes are generally of real high quality, the prices are a bit higher than most other stores, but if you go on Thursday the prices are 50% off. Each day of the week has a different discount deal. While I don't always find something I want, when I do it is usually very cool. I did find a small stained glass lamp in a Frank Llyod Wright style and a cool little carved stone figure. Overall the Brookpark store has some really nice products and you can find some great finds. Common Threads Brookpark is a very well organized and well stocked thrift store; it almost feels like you are not at a thrift store but you can definitely find some really great buys. They do a really nice job of presenting the products and keep the store well stocked and looking good. May not be the place to find the best values, but you can find some great buys.
