Don't recommend this complex at all. Tow vehicles even in the uncovered parking spots. Rarely any street parking and no parking in the garage across. Homeless have easy access to your patio door and windows, not suitable for young women. Many amenities they claim to offer are "out of service" I.e the coffee machine in the clubhouse, restrooms by the pool. The Pool barely gets any sunlight and is not heated. Paying monthly for valet trash that doesn't come everyday? Had a paint project that lasted months. I could go on. Not satisfied and won't be renewing the lease read more

Worst Apartment Complex -- I am extremely frustrated with this apartment complex! The front desk and management are the worst I've ever dealt with. Out of everything we went through in our time there, I will keep it to our moving out. They nitpicked our move-out and deducted hundreds in 'damages', which could have been more if we hadn't taken videos and pictures of everything, even the garage. After a year of dealing with their lawyers, a judge also found it is unjust and awarded us our money back. UNFAIR towing practices and no response.. If I could give zero stars, I would. My vehicle was towed from this property without any clear or properly posted warning signage. There were NO VISIBLE notification about towing policies-nothing that would indicate parking was restricted or that a vehicle would be towed. to make things worse I attempted to call and email numerous times to get information and resolve the issue, finally after an hour the courtesy patrol company reported that no report of parking infractions were committed and no cars were towed! then when I called the tow company rep. fradualently reported that the car had been picked up two days previously. When I told the rep. that the car just had been parked that evening he changed the story to that the car was towed 30 minutes after I had parked it. Misinformation and accountability is beyond frustrating. This feels like a predatory practice, and its completely unacceptable. If your are visiting be be warned your vehicle might be towed without notice and you will be left with no support or explanation. read more

Seems like there was a change in leasing/front staff while we lived here, and the new staff were pretty nice - not overly nice but not mean. I did not have any problems with leasing staff like some other older reviews mentioned. I wasn't charged any extra fees when I moved out like some older reviews mentioned, but I also very thoroughly deep cleaned my unit. Overall, this apartment is a good place to live for the price, considering the nearby apartments are increasing their prices like crazy. If there is no where to safely park your car and have a good nights sleep what is there????? I wish that I could give alta zero stars, but unfortunately that is not an option. I have lived here for over a year and have seen little to no improvement on parking. To offer something at a luxury price should mean EVERYTHING is included, especially parking. God forbid you work odd hours because honey, bless you. There is never options for parking, as in; as a resident if you come home and there is no parking, you can expect to pay for the garage or pray for street parking (which also is timed). Also expect to hear your upstairs neighbors and hope they quiet down because their "security" will do nothing about it. There is also incentive to people posting good reviews, do not believe everything you read because they are literally paying people through rewards to add a positive review. Stay away from their high prices, you could find better for the price in this area. They do have decent amenities but the same people are always hogging the area and are also given special privileges, like owning garages for ($150 a month) and still being able to park in the other provided areas, which is a breach in the rules (at least according to the rules we were given.) 10/10 would recommend staying anywhere but here in the downtown area, as there are plenty of options without such a high price tag and massive let down. I hope you love the smell of dog piss and shit in the hall ways. Watch out for the stair-wells To be a little fair to alta, they do have better than average amenities. Absolutely horrible experience with this building. Visited their leasing centre and was charged $533. I visited 4 other condos and was approved in a matter of hours. I called repeatedly to get in touch with this particular building 4 times without success. Not one of the other apartments asked for my banking information and routing number. These guys do so so they can charge you a ridiculously high admin fee just to apply which is not easily reversible. Beware before applying. After calling to see what had happened and why I'm being charged $533, the manger was very rude and even threatened to send me to collections if I reversed the payment. I asked her to refund the payment and she flat out refused. Imagine what they will do if you actually live there. practices from this organization and horrible attitude from their manager. I gave 2 stars because it was an okay place to live, but the move out security deposit scam, gets zero stars. My husband and I spent a lot of time cleaning the apartment, filling every hole in the walls, carpet cleaning (the best we could on very old carpet that needs replaced), only to have $600 taken out of our security deposit. They claimed we damaged the refrigerator with scratches. The best part is, I noted on the move in document that the stainless steel doors had some minor scuffs, but they still charged us claiming I didn't note enough detail! I was very surprised by this and feel that they used it as an excuse to keep money. We were great tenants, never late on rent, quiet, unlike a large majority of the other tenants. I attempted on multiple times to discuss this with the manager Leslie, showing her photos and pleading on why we should not owe anything, however she continued to blame us. Photos attached as proof of their ridiculous claims. Very disappointing. Also, don't rent an apartment along any busy road due to the very loud noise, but more so from the black pollution that comes into the apartment from the vehicle exhaust. AVOID AT ALL COSTS- PLEASE READ IF APT. HUNTING! This is by far the worst place I've ever lived. If you can avoid it, PLEASE DO. It is worth my time to write this review if it means saving anyone from dealing with this place. The management is awful. I mean really bad. They do not care AT ALL about their residents. If you have an issue (and believe me, you will) they will not care, they will make you feel like it's YOUR fault and not bother to change anything to help you. Upstairs neighbors are so loud it's unbearable, even if you live on the top floor, dogs bark CONSTANTLY. I felt like I lived in a dog shelter. Mind you, this is against the lease, yet they refuse to do anything about it. Not to mention, unless you pay over $100 for a garage, you will not find parking past 8pm. Multiple people that do not have parking passes park there but they don't do a thing about it. On top of that, people that have garage parking will park in spaces for regular parking when they have guests (even though they aren't supposed to) so they take up even more parking. And you guessed it, they do NOTHING about this. I could go on much longer but you get the point, PLEASE avoid this place. I'm genuinely trying to help ppl apt. hunting, cross this place off the list. My experience was so miserable and management is so pathetically bad that instead of actually helping me, they let me out of my lease. The amenities are nice. And complex clean, modern and the units are well designed. The dog run originally was grass and wonderful, but continual overwatering just made it pure mud. Several tenants had complained about the watering frequency but no change was done. Now it's a rubberized material which just doesn't work. Now I just take my dog to Hance or Indian School dog park which takes a lot more time but worth it...for now. Parking is ridiculous! Part of the appeal to me was living in a community with guard-gated access/parking. But if you don't have your car parked early enough in the evening, good luck finding a space. You can't even find street parking on 2nd Street unless you go north of Catalina!! Seriously, how is gated access/parking considered an amenity (which we ultimately pay for through our rent) when we can't use it. Management's solution is to offer a garage which we have to pay extra for - no thanks! If parking were better, I'd raise the score to 4 stars but since I'm not a big fan of having to park 2 blocks away and walk over to my apt in 110 degree weather, groceries in-hand, 2 Stars seems appropriate. I understand the limitations of living in an urban environment, often requiring the need to walk, talk light rail or ride sharing services but come on...that has nothing to do w residents NOT having a single space to park their vehicles! I know that both in person and in the community's marketing, the covered parking and gated/secured access is highlighted as an amenity/attribute of the community so if we aren't guaranteed this due to having to park outside of the gates on a regular basis, shouldn't this be removed as a feature of Alta Midtown? I lived here for two years. Please note there are two yelp pages for this same building. Three stars because it could be better. It took a few months with a new management company to understand the difference in service. You get what you pay for. This started off as a beautiful property, until it was sold and out under new management. I worked hard to give the new management benefit of the doubt but was left very disappointed. Full trash, no communication, unkept landscaping, no cleaning supplies in gym, maintenance and housekeeping staff only part time, disgusting elevators, broken promises, rude interactions, broken door handles, the list goes on. My advice would be to really consider what aspects of apartment living are important to you. When you tour, make sure to ask to see spaces off the beaten path. There are better deals in the area. Why pay luxury pricing for sub par service? I hope the management begins to listen to their audience and start taking better care of the property. I am not in the business of publishing bad reviews for spite but I feel strongly this message needs to be published. Do your research! read more

It's been a year since I moved in and I have yet to have a single negative experience living here. Lindsay, Natalie, and Ashley have all consistently gone above and beyond to ensure my experience has been top notch; I have been so impressed. The level of service and hospitality here is unprecedented from the competition. I shopped around once I got my renewal offer with other communities in the area (E.G. Mark Taylor, Alliance Residential, Weidner) and found that I had been too spoiled by my experience to make the switch! Though I won't be renewing my lease at Alta Midtown, Wood Residential has earned my business, I signed a lease at their sister community, Alta Camelback. Well deserved 5 Star Rating. I would recommend Alta Midtown, or any Wood Residential property, to anyone looking for a new home. They wont disappoint. read more

This place was nice to live at, but I'd look elsewhere. Especially if you have guests. The Parking was a nightmare, I'd often have to park on the street or have my guests do the same. People have extra parking pases which doesn't allow everyone a spot. My AC broke for the last four months of living their, they could never figure it out. It was miserable, i had to call them almost daily. They would even blame me, it was embarrassing and cruel- this was in September and I couldn't sleep in the heat. Even though my AC bill randomly doubled because it was working so hard, they refused to take accountability. They didn't fix the AC and finally just had to let me move out. Avoid apartment 223. I was awoken almost nightly by my neighbors. The staff wasn't much help there, the floors are thin. I did love the amenities- free coffee, pool and gym are awesome. Staff was nice enough but just to cover their butts, nothing ever changed. Upon move out, I was charged silly cleaning fees. After living their over 2.5 years, things were super clean for that time frame, my mom spent 9 hours cleaning it too to bottom and was still charged $230 in fees. It used to be an awesome place when it was alta Midtown , but for the price, you can definitely find better and feel safer. read more

This includes accommodations when things didn't work out quickly and prompt responses when they were operating in-house. I lived at the Thomas for a year and it was definitely not a pleasant experience even from the start. Management is very poor, when we first moved in there was only Jen, Leslie and another woman who had a english accent. Both Jen and the other woman were very rude, couldn't answer basic leasing consultant questions which is what their job is. On various accounts I had major issues with Jen like her telling us we had to pay $3200 move in costs for a $1295 unit.. when I asked her to redo the math she did it like 4X and said she was right but when we did our math it was only stating no more than $2200. I asked to speak to Leslie and after her doing it she said we were right and that's all we had to pay. We originally didn't get a garage with our apartment because it's an extra $125 but after 2 weeks of hell not being able to find parking in our gated community and having to walk two blocks from our car to our apartment we decided it was a much needed sacrifice oh and even if it's a two car garage port they only give you own garage remote and for your second car you have to buy your own and they'll sync it for you. If you're like my husband and myself who love entertaining or hosting people you can kiss that good bye! All guests have to park two blocks over and walk about 10min to your apartment at minimum. There is no guest parking and there is only ONE ENTRANCE/EXIT and it's often broken! In my 1 year there it broke 7 times and made me late to work a few times since I'd work at 6am and the office and maintenance didn't come in until 9am even if you called the emergency maintenance. On top of that if your gate fob died you were stuck outside the entrance until the office opened or until someone else pulls in or out. Horrible experiences. Even though I had parking stickers present on my car windshield MY CAR STILL GOT TOWED, AND THEY TRIED TO MAKE ME PAY FOR IT!!!!!! This was before the fact that they had explained to us that garages can only park in garages and general parking in general remember we didn't have a garage at first!! After arguing for a little over an hour and Leslie the property manager not being able to prove in my lease or ANY PAPERWORK PROVIDED by the office that was a rule they had to pay for its release and let me off with a warning. We felt like we were constantly being watched so they could fine us. I remember the first night I received my service animal and brought her home at night so I couldn't have gone to the office since it was closed I was walking to my car the next morning with my dog and the maintenance man saw us and within 5minutes of our interaction with him Jen from the leasing office calls me and let's me know "it was brought to our attention that you have a pet now. We need the details of the dog so we can notate it and then we need you to come in and pay all the fees" before I could even get a word out she started going over all the fees, then she got irritated that she wasted her time and breath because once she finished going over all the fees and everything my response was no because she's a service animal. Then she was even more upset cause there was more paperwork she was gonna have to fill out. Although most of my issues were usually with Jen and some parts on Leslie, I can say that our apartment itself was great the hallways in the building aren't the best they look like you're walking down an asylum kinda creepy at night, amenities are decent but there's a lot of rules enforced so not very enjoyable, there's ALWAYS constructions and car accidents on the 2nd/3rd st and Thomas light so avoid those corners if you can wym husband and I called 911 about 5x while there, the mail room is very effective but the parcel room to get packages is always super messy and unorganized. In all this madness the only reason I gave them a two was because it was an ok place to live, and we got most of our security deposit back which was nice but we also left it how we found it for the most part and luckily they saw the effort we put to cleaning the apartment. The move out process was nice and easy, thankfully because they hired a new lady named Christina or Christine I can't remember which it was but she made the process so easy and made us feel like she wanted to take care of us!!! I wish she was part of management when we first moved in probably would have had a better experience and I hope she can help turn the place around in the management department. read more

I've been living here for 3 months or so. And already thinking of extending our lease for another year. Everything they offer is state of the art, from personal cabanas at the pool to cold brew tap downstairs. I can't brag enough on what they have to offer to us residents (pool parties, food trucks, movie nights, etc.) My favorite part of this community is the leasing, and management staff. It feels like you have a friend working downstairs rather than a body. I haven't experienced any technical problems either, the maintenance team does a rad job on everything, and the place is so clean. We have lived at Alta Midtown for about 6 months now and are very happy with our choice. The apartments are beautifully finished and thoughtfully designed. The amenities are still in great shape, including the pool/hot tub, gym, skydeck, and common area with the big tv screen and pool table. We love how active the leasing office is with creating activities for the community to come together and meet each other. They are extremely cooperative with any needs that you may have, whether it is something they can do, or that maintenance is needed. We did have a few hiccups when we first moved in, but that was something that we kind of expected with a brand new complex. A few of the negatives about living here are the noisy hallways and the front gate that is occasionally broken, allowing anyone to get into the property. However, the biggest problem now that the building is becoming more and more occupied, is the parking, which is filled on a first come basis. When we first moved in, parking was ample, and we were told that residents had the right to park anywhere that is covered, and guests needed to use the uncovered spots. Now that more people have moved in, there are 0 parking spaces available. If you get back to the complex after 9pm, you are forced to park on the street outside of the gated community (if that isn't taken up already). They have began to tow anyone who is not displaying their parking tag, however it still seems like parking will continue to be an issue. Garages are available, however, they are $100+/month added to your rent, with allows you one space in a garage, and one space behind it outside (that not many people use). read more

My dog loves the dog park, and even met another blind dog here like him! So freaking cool. The maintenance supervisor is amazing and you can tell he treats the property like it's his own, which is so wonderful. I am so happy I moved in here-- plus, it's so close to everything! This place gives you a $500 gift card to movie in. If you do elect to live here, I highly recommend you use it to buy noise cancelling headphones. The sound insulation is lacking and you will literally (and I am using that word correctly) hear AND FEEL every footstep your upstairs neighbor makes if you are not on the top floor. If you are, you will just hear doors that lack any soft-closing mechanism slamming, people playing music and talking by the pool late into the night, and your neighbors yelling at the Cardinals through their TV. I have never had to call security for a noise complaint until I moved here. I have also lived in 100 year old East Coast row houses that were less creaky and shaky than this building. I wouldn't say anything this building is really luxury quality, even though it touts itself as a luxury complex. Sure, it has the usual amenities that are available in most complexes in this price range, but the selection of trim, like the thermostats can't be programmed to go on or off at certain times, is questionable. If you want your apartment to be cool by the time you get home from work in the summer or warm when you get out of bed in the winter, no can do. The water heaters also seem to be half-sized. One 15 minute shower uses up all the hot water. Even the office staff admits that it takes 30-45 minutes between showers in order to heat up enough water for the next shower. If you and your roommate or significant other both take showers in the morning before work, you should draw straws to see who has to wake up earlier. As far as the parking goes, I've never had a problem, but that's because I pay and extra $150/mo for garage parking. However, even when I come home late, I see spaces open. They may not be right in front of the door, but they are there. The parking issue I do have is that there is NO GUEST PARKING. The adjacent streets have meters or a 2 hour time limit, even on weekends, so keep visits brief. All that being said, the STAFF IS REALLY NICE. That extra star is for them and they are why I wish I didn't have to leave such a negative review. They try to address what they can and have never been anything less than COURTEOUS AND PROFESSIONAL, but they can't fix sub-par construction or what residents do after they leave. It's also slightly cheaper than other newer complexes and if you work downtown, it's in a convenient location. I have also never felt unsafe here, which is a really important consideration when finding a new place to live. Since picking a new home is such a big decision, I hope this review was helpful. PS. The management does solicit reviews from tenants and offers incentives for doing so. While other reviews may be perfectly genuine, this may introduce some bias. read more

Since I was able to speak to the new management, things have been a lot better. The hallways of the buildings have been cleaner along with some new paint. I've lived here for a year now and am renewing again. I have made great friends and to be honest, since I've moved here, it has made a great positive impact in my life being surrounded by the amazing tenants here. I am aware of the parking situation, however, I have seen that the leasing office is doing what they can to resolve the issue despite residents having multiple vehicles, not parking in their garage or having guest park within the gates. The leasing office also does all possible to notify residents about any changes and regulations with emails and letter notices on the doors which I appreciate because I'm very busy and sometimes cant get to my emails. The tenants love participating in game nights and also do events on their own for everyone here which is awesome because it gives the opportunity to meet each other and make great memories! read more

Lindsey, Natalie, Ashley, and Katie have the best positive attitudes and strive to build relationships with residents and are professionals while handling the many situations that arise in an apartment. The office staff works hard to build a community and engage residents in the community through many events. The maintenance staff is prompt, friendly and extremely hard working. The community amenities are fun and kept clean. The location of Alta is ideal for Downtown events and it's nice there are garages across the street, meters and street parking for visitors. the only reason this place gets 3 stars is bec of Sheyenne at the front desk, she tries to work with you and is always helpful and pretty responsive. i do NOT recommend this building bec of corporate. a corporate worker & new neighbor, has officially forced me and my neighbor to take our doormats down (non of which was offensive. my neighbor's mat actually was a gay pride mat) and corporate doesn't try to see both sides, they don't even tell you of warnings. they just give u and fine and a letter that threatens eviction for ur next offense. and it doesn't help that there are not enough parking spots for all residents, we be parking down the block :) read more

This place has been the highlight to my move to Phoenix. Brand new complex with great amenities (my favorite is the cold press on tap and the outdoor pool) and lavish modern units. What really takes this place is the wonderful staff. These ladies go above and beyond to be helpful and give great service. For example, my car got towed because my sticker fell off and Natalie and Kate worked with me and the towing company to get the car towed back to the facility without charge to me. They didn't have to do this and it was the most wonderful nod of service I've ever experienced! read more
