I gave them 2 stars for effort but left me wanting to love the place but didn't. Food: literally 5 options 1. Chips and queso dip 2. Loaded nachos 3. Hot dog 4. Brat 5. A pretzel We got a beer each and the not so loaded "loaded nachos (cheese, sc, jalapeños,tiny cup of salsa to share). Pretty sure it was pace picante salsa at that. I can tell why they only have 5 options since the bartender had to let everyone know he was the only one working. Pretty sure he was the bartender, cook, and dish washer. The bartender although friendly had to announce to everyone that he was the only one there and people seated at the tables had to walk to him to place orders. So not what I'm used to and the place wasn't busy mind you. Probably would scope out another option if hungry. They got two stars for the coffee stout that was really good. read more

We stayed at the inn at solitude and were happy to have a walkable bar option! They have a great selection of local beers and national beers as well as cocktail options. The staff was friendly and we were lucky enough to meet locals and avalanche rescue dog Greta! Made our night talking to everyone and getting the insider scoop. We came a few nights and enjoyed the kareoke Thursday lol tons of heart and a chill atmosphere! read more

I want to be clear. I come here pretty much every week in the winter. I love it here but it's not because of their gourmet food options or even an amazing beer selection. I come here because it's conveniently located for a break between runs and the staff is ridiculously friendly. If you're looking for some friendly faces and a convenient spot to stop between runs. You've found it. They don't have the best food selection but it's a step above what I can pack in my pocket or car and it's a hell of a lot more convenient. While their beer selection is limited, they carry enough to satisfy most people. Sometimes there is live music which makes for a nice break and compared to other ski resort spots, I do not find the pricing super offensive. Two beers and a simple meal will usually run you about $30. That's certainly pricey but it's on par with the cafeteria where the ambience is horrible. At the Thirsty Squirrel, you will rarely experience the crowds of a resort cafeteria. The only catch is, it's 21 and up (sorry no kids) and there is no Ikon Pass discount. read more

We came to Solitude for a 4 day ski vacation. We stayed at the Inn at Solitude, given the small village we didn't have many options to choose from for places nearby. We ended up at the Thirsty Squirrel each of the four nights we stayed. I loved this place, I see there are a few bad reviews. But honestly it was a really fun, chill place to have a drink. They also have a pool table. We were able to watch the Super Bowl here too and decided to have food as well. Given the limited menu and some of the reviews, I didn't have high hopes for the food. But I was impressed with how good everything was! They added wings to their menu for the super bowl and they were so good! We got the Buffalo and bbq. We also ordered the pretzel that was really good! The pretzel was was hot and soft, the mustard and cheese sauce were both very good. My friend ordered the hot dog that he said was tasty as well. My mom did not enjoy her margarita and my friend and I got mules that he did not like but I thought were good. I was really happy to see they have Mark West Pinot Noir that I really enjoy so I mostly stuck to that. The seltzer was good but didn't seem like it had any alcohol in it. The best big cottonwood canyon bar by far! They're actually reasonably priced, even up at a resort. The service is always good! And I love how they actually have a pool table. No mountain bars really do, it's a great addition. I ride Brighton, but I'd rather drive down to solitude after riding and hit the squirrel, rather than staying at Brighton for Molly Greens. read more

Solitude, I love you. I love your mountain. But you got to work on this place. PLEASE! It's mostly the food options that leave me so so unsatisfied and frustrated most days on the hill. I've started to just load my jacket up with snacks because I know if I stop in I ain't going to leave happy. Let's talk about the portions. They are SO SMALL. Fill up the dip bowls to the top. Maybe make them a bit bigger? And maybe give us a few more chips/crackers? C'mon. It's unacceptable and super obvious that you're trying to save $ by cheapening us on portions. I've tried several of your options and all are just super underwhelming. It breaks my heart each time I order a snack so I need to share my thoughts to you here. Be aware and put yourself in the hungry guests seat. Would you want that? Make some changes. read more

Four of us hearty souls stopped in for light lunch, beer, and booze. No one greeted us when we came into the place. They weren't busy, two other tables of four. We were never handed menus but found one on an adjoining table. Good choice of beers, local & national brands. We didn't order any shots, rest day. The waitress had zero personality and when the "cook" delivered our food, all at different times, his demeanor was worse. My hot dog was bland with the bun dry and crispy. Same for my friend's. Tator Tots with the works? Just oven baked with some ranch dressing drizzled over the top, dry. The soup, straight from Campbell. Nachos? Not worth the effort. We had to flag down the waitress for our bill. Slapped it on the table and left, not a thanks for coming in or anything. Not coming back, you should look elsewhere. read more

Ordered a couple soft pretzels to go. Forgot my ID so we had to wait outside. They brought me the bill ahead of time, and since all they do is heat up the pretzels I didn't find a tip necessary. We waited over 30 minutes for the heated up pretzels outside while they were slow with only a couple tables inside. We checked in twice to see how much longer and was told there are other food orders ahead of us. So after over a half an hour wait in the snow outside, we were brought the pretzels and the employee commented on how we didn't even tip!! How unprofessional! Would never recommend grabbing any of their overpriced food to go. So many other better options along the mountain. read more

Cute little ski bar with a range of beers on tap (and a rotating cider/seltzer, which was watermelon and sounded gross), and hot spiked drinks as well. I got a canned cider although I wished there was at least one cider on tap. Didn't really have vegan food options, so we didn't eat anything. Was warm inside, and bustling with skiers at the end of the day. Serve yourself water, which is fine. read more

The food is really good especially the nachos. The service is kinda non-existent though. Had to order at the bar and then they'd bring it out. Need another drink...walk to the bar. Then they were super nice and accommodating, so I guess that's standard. If you could order and get the check at the table I'd give it top marks. I'll still return for the food! read more

Less than mediocre experience. Bartenders were awful and couldn't make any common drinks? Not even a green tea shot or Irish Car bombs? No one smiled or showed any emotion and our bartender (ketti) refused to carry more than two beverages at a time...? No one ever bussed the table or came back for refills. In order to get another drink, you have to walk to the bar--and if you do, you're met with snotty comments from the bartenders. They don't have enough glasses and they reused the glasses from our table and handed them to different people? Disgusting. The food was semi-okay, yet took forever. The hotdog bun was dry and tasted stale. We went four times over the course of our four day trip as it's really the only place to drink on the mountain, but the service just got worse each day. The entire ski trip was ruined by ketti and her inability to manage the bar. We will not be returning to Solitude again. read more
