We found Tarahumara on Yelp and the reviews looked good and it was still opened so we decided to call in our order for pick up. The restaurant is located in a plaza so there is plenty of parking around. It was almost closing time so no one was inside. Pollo asada burrito (3/5): This was okay. The chicken didn't taste grilled? Maybe the flavor got lost in the burrito and sauce. Maybe I am too spoiled with California mexican food. I don't know what it was smothered with on the outside but it tasted like I was eating a pizza with the red sauce and melted cheese. They have a sauce and salsa bar where you can grab as much as you want. The salsa was spicy but good. I also got the creamy chipotle sauce and it was definitely spicy. For a fast casual restaurant, this was pretty good. Everything is cooked fresh. The chips were crispy and light. Lots of salsa and sauces to try. The pork chili verde was really good. A ton of food, big chills of pork, nicely flavored. Steak fajitas were classic. Salads were ok. Would have preferred whole beans in a salad, instead of refried beans. We actually really love this place since discovering it last winter during a trip to Deer Valley. What make it is their salsas and cremas. Plus the vibe is laid back and cool with televisions showing sports all the time and cool south of the boarder feel with sort of a not south of the boarder feel if you know what I mean. The shrimp tacos were good. The fish tacos were dry. The cheese enchiladas were not heated enough for the cheese to actually melt. The ceviche had more of a V-8 juice flavor rather than the normal lime flavor that I'm use to and a fan of. The chips are a little thick for my liking and needed some more salt. Biggest problem for us this time was that they forgot our order. After waiting for about twenty minutes and seeing several other customers who came in after us get their food before us I went up to the counter to ask what was up and they realized that they didn't pull our order out of the printer or something! I'd probably give this 4 point something stars. The fajita I got was very well seasoned. The rest of our group got chicken nachos, tacos, quesadillas, and taco salad bowls. Of all of the above, the only complaint was that the taco salad bowls had too much lettuce and not enough of the other stuff. From my perspective the salsa offerings were good but none of them were particularly spicy. It also wasn't much of a salsa bar. Just a small area with squeeze bottles. Consequently not a 5 star restaurant. I would pick this place as my go-to Mexican restaurant in park city for sure. And if you are one to imbibe. The mojito's (we did ours with vodka) are amazing. I was looking for a takeout comfort meal and upon eating their food, I highly recommend this place if you're looking for a quick and tasty meal. I ordered a Barbacoa Burrito for takeout and the food was nicely packaged up in to-go containers. First look, the serving size was great for what you pay for. Additionally, the presentation was great, with a variety of different sauces and toppings with the burrito--they also had extra homemade sauces on the side which tasted great. After taking my first bite, my evening lit up with the excellent flavor of the food. Since it was a good serving size, I felt full and also satisfied with the taste. Came here on a trip to SLC and was looking for some Mexican comfort food. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to my expectations. Food: - Chips and Guacamole (5/5) - really solid guac - Carne asada tacos (2/5) - I didn't really like these, the carne asada was dry and wasn't too flavorful. The taco comes street style, with just meat, although they have onions, cilantro, and salsa that you can add from the bar - Al Pastor tacos (5/5) - a must get if you come, this was the star of the show for me - seasoned well and had a nice char. - Two burrito combo, carne asada (1/5) - skip this one! The burrito came wet burrito style, with sauce on the top. We also asked for no beans, and the dish came with beans. Maybe it would've been better if the order was followed. Again, the burrito came super plain with meat, beans, and tortilla. I wish they had an option to make it "super" with sour cream, cheese, etc. The Mexican rice (1/5) that came with our dishes seemed really hard and stale. The restaurant was busy when we came in for dinner on a weeknight, the cashier was also the server so it took awhile for her to acknowledge us to place our order. After exploring Park City's Main Street and couldn't find any restaurants opened for lunch with decent ratings (Monday/off season), we decided to venture about a mile away to Tarahumara. The restaurant is a counter order establishment. The lunch menu has a carne asada combo that came with rice and beans and 2 tacos. The tacos were pretty good, but the rice lacked any real spice. Service was friendly. The restaurant shares its dining area with another restaurant right next door, so it opens up the seating area quite a bit. They will bring your food to you, but you will need to clean up after yourself. read more

I decided to try Tarahumara based on the photos. I can say, it was some of the best Mexican food I ever tasted. Ordered the standard carne asada fajitas -- which comes with tortillas, guacamole, a big basket of chips, beans & rice. The beans were cold, which was a bit odd, but, given the fajitas were so hot, it didn't matter. The salsa bar here is off the hook -- the salsas are all SO good as well as the fresh pico de gallo. For $20 they give you enough food for two people - the value is absolutely there in a very expensive city for eats. I'd definitely recommend this place and give it two big thumbs up. read more

My family says 10 stars. Yelp allows 5, so that's what it gets. This place is actually connected internally to the bagel and grill place next store and they share a drink station and wifi even. Pretty sure the same person owns them. They people were SO nice and engaged with my daughter (whose bday is today). They serve unlimited chips and salsa and have a great salsa bar. They food was hearty (huge!) and delish. I'm excited to take my leftovers on the slopes with me tomorrow for lunch. They surprised my 9yo with a cake even! First time visit. Counter order spot with an easy to read menu plus daily specials. Customer service was fast and friendly. We started with chips and queso. Incredible flavor with onion and peppers for dipping perfectly salted, homemade chips. Of the specials, we chose Mahi Mahi fish tacos. They were so tender, generous portions of grilled fish, fresh avocado, and cilantro. Beans and rice side plate - birth great. These fish tacos were in the top 10 of amazing flavors and cooked to perfection. Chicken fajitas were so tender with amazing red and green peppers, and carmelized onions. A hint of acid to complement the chicken and veggies heightened the flavors. The salsa bar had many varieties and heat levels from medium to "fire hot," pico, mango, plus limes, cilantro, and roasted jalapeños. The chips make great samplers for trying different salsas before committing. First time visit but definitely not the last. read more

Here's the thing, the food is solid. It is, it's good. Especially for what this is, which is essentially fast casual Mexican food. I've had the chicken burritos and the bean and cheese burritos and both are solid, nothing special but solid. On any other day this would be an easy 3, maybe a 4, but the restaurant just isn't clean. At first it was just a few flies and I was like, "ok, gross but that happens every now and then." Then on another visit it was flies and an ant crawling on the table and I was out. The mantra of if you see them, the problem is much worst I think is easy to see here when you take note of their cleaning station which is consistently absolutely filthy. The first time I was there I thought, "They're just busy and maybe they're short staffed." No, it's every time. I gave them three shots, not I've got this place on a waiting period before I try them again. The only thing I'll change next time I come back is getting two burritos, they're great. As a sauce lover I enjoyed the fact that they had a serve yourself salsa bar with about 8 different salsas and crema's. They were all delicious and super fresh. The service was quick and the staff were extra friendly as well. The owner came over to our table to check on us and we ended up chatting for a bit. The Barbacoa was actually good too, but the rice and beans on the side are forgettable. Idk, some reason the main dish was comparable to other restaurants I've been too.
