The dream of the intentional. The idea of being both uplifted and humbled by selection. Knowing that as a customer, anything is possible within these options of beverage. Located in a beautiful historic store front, the rows of wine, and you, are given space here. Tall ceilings, large front facing windows, minimal, focused. No nonsense. When you walk in, you see the small tasting bar at the back of the room. Go sit down, trust me. Exceptional guidance. Their sommelier Flint, offers insights and education into their well crafted tasting flights, polished in hospitality, the mood is elevated, no pretension. Good vibes. Local, French, Italian, etc- it is all possible. Tasting here, with this team weaves a fluidity that you will not find at the plethora of single winery owned tasting rooms. Choose your own adventure, and let yourself be guided here. The Thief is no doubt the wine treasure trove of Walla Walla, check it out for yourself. read more

Crazy what the prices are for bourbon here You can see highly allocated bourbons here but they are making 5-6 times the profit on these read more

Newly opened, downtown located, wine merchant and bottle shop sells some beer too. Nice young owners whose hearts are in it and who are really helpful. They are still getting the new business wrinkles ironed out but they are off to a great start. THE DRILL: Buy bottles to take away or drink there at living room comfy seating (for maybe 16 total) or at bar (for maybe 12 more). See the chalkboard adjacent to bar for changing options available by glass. Including a sparkler...yahoo for that! Although the South African option they were offering on the day we popped in wasn't one my palate appreciated, I applaud them for pouring by the glass and for offering me a taste first. Some local wines and regional ones as well as imports in varietals or vintners not found at other local retailers are on shelves against the wall and wine rounders throughout space. If you're someone who enjoys the "treasure hunt" of finding interesting bottles across all price points, as we do, this is the place for that in Walla Walla as the area's one and only wine merchant. We walked away with two nice bottles. Thanks to the host at Saffron for telling us about this when we asked at dinner, "Is there a wine merchant in town?" Otherwise we would not have know as The Thief was so new as to not so up in local business lists nor Yelp. PS - Eat at Saffron...it is remarkably good food! THE SPACE: This is in one of the old buildings that populate downtown Walla Walla and cool interior details were either saved or added to the old space like brick wall and dark wood floors. The interior was cellar temperature on day of our visit. We love that. But if you plan to linger so you know. It had been an 85 degree day outside and I was dressed in light clothing and wished by the time of our ending linger here that I had a "barrel room temp" sweater to pop on. ACCESSIBILITY: Ramped up at entry and all on one level. Ample floor space throughout. Didn't check the loo. NEIGHBOR: For location marker since signage on windows is a little hard to see, Macy's is across street. PARKING: On street in Walla Walla's downtown is a bear. read more

You must come visit the spot when in Walla Walla, recommended to me by a bartender at Brasserie 4 and I wasn't disappointed. they have only been open for a few months but they've got their shit together. A great go to spot for hard to fine wines and also an amazing selection of craft beers. Steve was incredibly helpful and really helped me pick out a fabulous dessert wine and craft. The sunsets from the spot are amazing. There are some great seats that you can set up in the floor to ceiling windows and have a glass with your friends and then explore. Or have a glass of the bar and chat with your friendly local bartender. On a really busy corner of Main Street in downtown Walla Walla don't miss this spot. read more

The Thief Fine Wine & Beer - Amazing sunsets - Beer, Wine & Spirits Near Me - Walla Walla, Washington

The Thief is fine indeed. Whether you are looking for something to expand your palette, serve with a nice dinner, or lay down for years to come this spot has it covered. The staff are knowledgeable and down to earth. It's a great place to chat with friends and find that bottle of lagrein you didn't know you needed in your life. read more

Recommended by a couple of tastings rooms in downtown Walla Walla, we decided to pop in to grab a bottle of wine for a dinner at Walla Walla Steakhouse Company (separate review, but highly recommended). Tiffany was extremely helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. I liked to talk wine and she likes to talk wine. My kind of people. We talked for 15-20 minutes, and she seemed to really enjoy interacting with customers. She made a GREAT recommendation (Devona Champoux Vineyard Cabernet 2016) - lovely, lovely wine. The store has a wide assortment of great wines from all wine regions. Do not hesitate to swing by and browse or chat up Tiffany! read more

Decent selection of wine and very nice and helpful staff. But way too many French wines and not enough South American.

Awful customer service. Came by for a tasting while they were still open and got denied. With a huge wine company looking for Washington wines and was turned away before the establishment was closed. There were still guests in the bar. Big big mistake.... read more

Absolutely the WORST customer service! Treated us as though we were a disgrace. We will never ever visit again. We went in to purchase wine and left feeling angry, sad and mostly disrespected. We will share with all of our friends. Sad that this is the kind of customer service is hired, read more

The Thief is a refreshing break from the wine tasting rooms. Don't get me wrong, I am frequent flyer in the tasting rooms. Still, it is a really different experience, and truly a lot of fun, to visit The Thief. The Thief is located in a huge corner space, and typically such cavernous storefronts are deadly to atmosphere, conversation and energy. Not at The Thief! They have filled their space with a shop, full of wines, sakis, beers, and other spirits from around the world. There are selections in every price range, and the staff can help you with knowing what everything is, so don't be afraid to dive in. There is a spacious area devoted to beautiful velvet armchairs and pretty round coffee tables. There are 3-4 sections of this classic furniture arranged in circles around a table. There is also a divan or two. These are located by the windows, so people watching is part of the fun. A great place to sit and share a bottle of wine while the sun goes down. They also have a bar area, where you can sit, sip, and chat with the friendly, funny, helpful staff. They are an eclectic bunch, in the best possible way. There are two drawbacks. The first, is, and don't forget this: There is NO FOOD. If you plan to drink more than one or two glasses, be sure to line your stomach with a good meal before you settle into those comfy chairs. I think you can also bring food in from elsewhere, but please check that before doing so. The only other less-than-perfect aspect of The Thief is that they really do seem to be focused on selling wine by the bottle. They have a small selection of wine by the glass, and when I've been there, I've wanted to sample several wines. The selection of bottles far surpasses my experience level, and I sure would like to sample a flight sometime. Or maybe they could occasionally host a tasting event? Anyway, this is a special place, very cool and different. It is always spotlessly clean, not a dusty bottle on the shelf. Great attention to detail and really cool people working there. read more

Came on a Monday and leaving Tuesday. Most of the tasting rooms were closed. but they have a good selection of local wines and a rotating flight of Walla Walla wines among others. read more

Super helpful staff who are friendly and knowledgable with plenty of fun facts to spare. There's a super nice seating area up front, and overall it's a beautiful space. A good selection of wines by the glass as well as plenty of beers to choose from. It's also possible to purchase a bottle to drink in the space, for a corkage fee. I definitely want to stop back in for one of their Thursday wine tasting events! read more

The Thief is top tier. I found wine/vino from Sakartvelo (Georgia) and it was the best bottle of wine that I can remember. *Dila-O* I believe "Dila" means Peace. It's said before 'mshvidobisa' if you want to say good morning. If you are visiting the Walla Walla Valley and looking for a splendid atmosphere to enjoy fine imported wines The Thief is the best place to go in the County of Walla Walla and the store is located very near the only grassy place left on Main Street between Spokane Street and Colville Street called Heritage Park and that is a special place and if you get hungry after enjoying a bottle of fine wine at The Thief - Public House 124 is right nextdoor to Heritage Park and has the best outdoor dining. A great way to spend an evening in Walla Walla Valley - a heavenly place. If you are looking for a great place to enjoy fine wine or fine ale be certain to check out this top tier shop. I highly recommend it and the Staff is truly incredible. read more

These people have the worst customer service. They are rude and didn't even help us. I'm not sure why they are even open for business!

Great selection that includes but does not stop with Washington wines and creates a nice alternative. Great beer selection and the events they hold commonly on Thursday evenings are well worth checking out. Great owners and staff. read more
