This was my first time at this location. From the moment I walked in, everyone was so welcoming. I came for a trim, face framing layers and a conditioning treatment. My stylist, Caylin, was incredibly kind and professional. My hair was in rough shape: dry, neglected, and in desperate need of conditioning and layers. Caylin and her instructors took the time to provide excellent feedback and guidance, working together to make sure my hair got the attention it needed. I noticed the same efforts with other students. I also loved that the products used spoke for themselves. Caylin never tried to upsell me; instead, she explained how to use them effectively, which I really appreciated as someone who likes to keep things simple. I was honestly surprised to see negative reviews for this location because my experience was outstanding. There's convenient parking on the street (2 hour limit) and a nearby garage. Since the Rockville location closed, this will definitely be my go-to. Scheduling an appointment online was super easy, too. I had a disappointing experience at the Temple. I wanted to try a Keratin treatment to see if I might be able to get a decent one at half the price as a regular salon. I didn't expect the treatment to be the most amazing one I have ever had, but I expected it to still turn out similar to every other Keratin treatment I have ever had. It turned out like the product burned my hair and my hair is very course now and super frizzy. When I booked my appointment, I asked for someone who was about to graduate and had some experience with a Keratin. I did get a woman who was about to graduate, but she had never done a Keratin. She didn't check her schedule the night before, so she was unprepared. She had to ask her instructor tons of questions and she seemed flustered. She told me she parked her car in front of the Temple because she didn't know she had an appointment first thing. While the product was sitting on my hair, she went to move her car. She had gotten a parking ticket, so she drove down to the Court St. garage to get the ticket dismissed. It took her about 45 minutes to do this, to park her car and to walk back to the salon. Her instructor said the product was supposed to sit on my hair for 15 minutes, but it sat on there closer to an hour, not include the time it took her to apply the product to my hair. Even the instructor seemed very unclear on how to do a Keratin and both of them had to read and reread the instructions. I realize this is a school and everyone is learning, but it just seemed like they were all having their first day. It was disappointing and unprofessional. I expected some hiccups for the price, but it's like I didn't even get a Keratin treatment. My hair turned out VERY course and is frizzier than it was when I arrived prior to the treatment. I have to flat-iron my hair every day to deal with the frizz/courseness and that's what a Keratin is supposed to do. I have had over 20 keratins and I always get a few months of sleeker hair that does not need to be blow dried or flat ironed for smoothness. So, I basically paid to have my hair look worse than when I arrived PLUS I tipped her for that. My student was super nice and I'm sure she will be a great stylist someday, but she was unprepared for being on track to graduate in less than a month. The instructors were very busy chatting with each other and I did not see a lot of instruction or supervision going on. I did mention all this on the emailed review I was asked to fill out and kind of expected someone would at least reach out to apologize or some other professional manner to explain why my treatment was so bad. They never did. I 100% would never come back here. Students can still do a good job even when they are learning. And instructors should be spending a lot more time instructing instead of chatting with each other. I don't think any customer should pay for something that left their hair looking worse than when they arrived and I see a lot of reviews with people experiencing just that at this school. read more

TL;DR canceled my appt 10 min before it started, Whitney is RUDE Had a great experience the first time I came here a few months ago. Today, not so much. First off, both times I've scheduled with them they have called me to reschedule for a different time slot. The first time they called me day of to ask me to come in earlier, second time they called me about a week before and moved my appt from 10:45 to 1:00. Wasn't a big deal to me. Today I drove an hour to my appointment and just as I was paying for parking (9 min before my appt time) they call me and inform me that there's been an emergency and they need to cancel my appointment. Whitney was extremely rude, offered no solutions, and had zero empathy for the fact that I drove an hour here. There was no "I'm so sorry for the inconvenience" or anything like that. I'm so disappointed and after reading other reviews I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Just don't go here unless you live close by and you're prepared to be canceled on at the last second. read more

What an awesome salon. As a first time client I couldn't be happier. I had Erin- level 2 student who needed no help on cut or color (that I knew of anyway) and it turned out gorgeous! While I fully understand that this is a school and students are learning... I am extremely disappointed & would advise you to go elsewhere. I am so upset about the lack of customer service... specially Allen. She was one of the nastiest people ive ever encountered in a salon/school. She yelled at me for using a brush after my hair was ruined. Allen had nasty body language and extremely rude. I sat in the chair from 9-4:30 pm my hair at one point turned orange/brassy, the color was awful, highlight dimensions were completely screwed up. I also left with wer hair. All of the "teachers" walking around are more concerned chatting vs helping these students. They pay VERY minimal attention. I now have to go to another salon to have my hair fixed. My hair is falling out in chunks tonight as well. These students need more training from teachers that will pay more attention to their learning, coloring& clients. If I had written this review even a month ago it would have been glowing as I've been using Paul Mitchell for ten years (five of them at The Temple). Two weeks ago I had an appointment to get my hair done. The Temple isn't open on the weekends anymore, so I took a day off work. I like to get to Frederick early in case of traffic (and to find parking) so I usually end up grabbing breakfast somewhere before my appointment. That day I was finishing up some breakfast when I got a phone call informing me that the student who had been assigned to me had called in sick and so my appointment was cancelled for the day. Now I understand that people get sick and that can't be helped, but it feels like there could be safeguards in place for this situation. Even if there can't be, I let the caller know I had taken a day off for this, but wasn't offered anything (not even an opportunity to reschedule). They gave me the emails for the managers so I emailed them. Now I'll admit I was in a sour mood and probably should have taken a breather before emailing them, but I tried to keep it to the point without any all caps or anything. I followed that up with a breakdown of what the cancelled appointment had cost me (including taking a day off of work) but I did NOT ask for reimbursement for that (which is important), just as a way of showing that this had been an inconvenience. A week goes by with no answer, so I reach out again. Admittedly, this time I was pretty snarky, I'll fully own that. The response from the manager accuses me of asking them to reimburse my costs (which I didn't) and then informs me that, despite paying them money, I am not a guest to him but a model (which, if that's the case, shouldn't they be paying me?) I had an appointment for full foil highlights and added a trim when I sat down with my stylist Danielle. I am so thankful I was assigned her! She is a level 2 stylist and was patient and thorough with asking what my goal was with the appointment. Yes, the appointment takes a while, but go in knowing that when you book! She did an amaaaaazing job with the color, I absolutely love it and checked in with me throughout the appointment to make sure I was comfortable. I went a while ago but was met with very respectful and professional staff members. I have natural 4C and my stylist was of a different hue than me. My hair type was kind of difficult to manage but I really appreciate that she never made me feel ashamed about it or try to place blame elsewhere. She sought direction from a more experienced stylist and both stylists referred to my hair as tightly curled and beautiful which meant a lot because that is rarely heard when referencing 4C hair. If you don't know already this is a school so you are putting your hair into the hands of future professionals sometimes it takes a little longer, but it's worth it. I could sit here and bore you with all the details of my experience here but I'll keep it snappy and to the point. I had been going to the school on and off for about 10 years and never had an aversive experience. Let's just say I got highlights that was done very sloppily and incorrectly by a student who was level 2 and graduated in May, I would have been better off doing it myself. I had to pay to get it fixed and was treated very poorly when I came back dissatisfied. Take Home Message: if you're satisfied with your service and have no complaints, they treat you well, are kind, and professional. However, as soon as you have a complaint things take an ugly turn and your treated with haste and snootiness. You almost get a sense that there gossiping about you when they walk away or will as soon as you leave. Also, the learning leader Jackie is very unpleasant to deal with and should steer clear from being in any customer service/ people oriented industry. Very bad vibes from that woman. Other than a quick cut or wax I would do yourself a favor and just go to a professional salon...there are more affordable ones out there if you really look. read more

I was a regular at the Paul Mitchell school in my previous town, and sought out this one after relocating. As I'd hoped, I got a great cut at at very reasonable price. I'd brought a picture of a cut I'd had in mind. Turned out, it wouldn't have looked right because my hair is so thick. But the stylist & instructor adapted it to achieve the look I wanted. One thing to keep in mind is that any service here will take longer, since the student stylists have to confer with their teachers frequently. They're also a bit more slow and deliberate, since they haven't accumulated that muscle memory yet. That has its own upside - you get way fewer little jabs and tugs. Since it's hard to predict how long your service(s) will take, you'd be wise to avoid the metered street parking. There are garages close by on both Church & Court streets. BTW, the student stylists practice on doll heads before getting to work on customers. I've had a very hard time finding salons that aren't expensive, and a stylist who'll give me the cut I asked for without pestering. (Did I want shaggy layers the last 3 times you asked? How many times have I said bangs are for younger women? Stop asking!) I'll definitely return here. read more

I always make my appointments with a level 2 student but I'm not sure this young lady was ready for the promotion. I realize she's young and inexperienced but she seemed very unsure about herself. The color turned out well, probably because I brought with me precise instructions from another student who colored it the last time. The supervisor asked me what I used to get such curl in my hair. I told her nothing. Before I could stop her the student loaded my hair with goop that I had to go home and wash out... As for the cut. Well... let's just say it's a good thing hair grows. The staff was so friendly and nice. Everyone was very sweet. Why the one star? Because I wanted a trim in the back and I got a haircut so bad I cried. The front looked great and I wasn't shown the back while I was there. When I got home I was horrified to see some uneven half-shaved bowl cut instead of a nicely trimmed pixie. I'm so upset that even though two teachers came over to check no one said anything to fix it. I was too anxious and nervous to ask to see the back (either that or my dumb self forgot) either way I said it was great, I paid and left and when I got home I saw the disaster that is my hair. I'm so mad at myself and I wish someone had said something. Despite me repeatedly showing several pictures and telling her I wanted it tapered, I wanted it a smooth transition. I'm stuck with some half-shaved bowl cut. I know it's a school, but the teachers didn't help at all and didn't say anything. I don't have the money to try and get this fixed, so I'm stuck being humiliated and wearing hats for the next several weeks until I can afford to get it cut somewhere else. Overall, I loved the people, I'm just really upset over this hair cut and I'm too nervous to go back and tell them that a student messed up and I need it fixed. Thankfully it's hat season, I guess. I moved to Frederick only 3 months ago, and I am in that phase where I let my hair grow back after cutting it really short. I didn't know where to go, and most of the things I saw on Yelp, I didn't like. Finally, I found The Temple. I booked an appointment with Kara (a phase 2 student), but this appointment had to be cancelled because Kara couldn't come that day. They called me in the morning and told me just that, were very nice and offered to book me with someone else. But I'd heard good things about Kara and colours, and I wanted to get blue in my hair so I really wanted to be with her. No problem, they rescheduled me for the same day, same time the week after. When I got there, everyone was really nice. I talked with Kara for a good 10 minutes about my expectations, she really made sure she understood what I wanted before going to check with her supervisor, and then start once she got the okay. I was really happy with the colour, got purple and blue and looked good. Now a month later the purple has completely faded, and the blue is turning green, but that's completely normal. I had to go back for a redo of the cut though. One side was about an inch longer than the other, and it really bothered me because it was really obvious. I had Jessie do the redo, and now everything is perfect! I am definitely going back in the days/weeks to come! read more

If you're looking for an inexpensive haircut (or color), the temple is the place. The students here do everything from a simple cut, to hair color, waxing, nail services, and more. And the prices are so reasonable ($15-20 for cut and style). If you've never had your hair done at a school before, I can say from personal experience of going to the Temple for about a year and a half now, these students (or professionals-in-training) are very good. They aren't just thrown onto the floor and given clients. They are well trained and prepared by the time they start seeing guests. They also have to consult with their teachers throughout the hair cut. If you are still nervous, I recommend calling and asking for a student in Phase 2. They have to get a certain amount of hours and go through more training to get there, so they are more confident and skilled than those in Phase 1. My husband and I both go here and wouldn't go anywhere else. We've been satisfied every time and with each student. read more

I had a wonderful experience with Talibah at The Temple. I was a fairly complicated case, wanting all over color, plus heavy highlights, plus a new cut. The salon atmosphere is very upbeat, it feels youthful and cutting edge. Talibah was a true professional, asking all the right questions and making sure I got what I was looking for from the color to the cut to the style. Be sure you budget plenty of time, this is a place of learning and every step is run past an instructor (which was interesting and fun for me). I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and will definitely be back. Students can accept gratuities but you cannot leave them on a credit card, so remember to bring cash. What an amazing experience! Completely unexpected! The greeters were friendly and fast. The students were warm and were very supportive of one another. I went for a simple trim because I honestly had heard horror stories from this place. But you can't beat the price so I figured I would try. This is the most difficult review I will ever have to write. I never left a salon feeling and looking so horrified and embarrassed in my life. I made the mistake of going to The Temple because of a Groupon and seemingly good reviews. It started with the hairstylist who was assigned to me, Mariah. My initial impression was that she seemed very inexperienced and uncertain. I wouldn't be surprised if I was the unlucky woman she first experimented on because the results were disastrous. I wanted highlights, light trim, and face framing. Her instructor verified what I wanted and offered suggestions to Mariah on what chemicals to use. My appointment started a 115pm and around 330pm she started taking out the foils. I knew something was wrong. The foil were taken out while I was in the sink so I couldn't see how bad it was. Mariah got the instructor to look at my highlights and she asked her "so what is the color base?" and she said "yellow". I was highly concerned but knew she could tone it down. She used frigid cold water to wash my hair and her washing my hair felt so ineffective and uncomfortable. It was 420pm by the time we returned to the station to dry my hair. Immediately I noticed a thick yellow streak on the side of my head. I was so concerned and asked if that was okay and she said "yes". All the stylist were packing up their things while she haven't even begun to blow dry my hair. She was so incredibly slow that another stylist had to help. I looked like a shaggy dog when it was all done. By that point I was just fed up and done! I asked for a rubber band to put my hair in a ponytail. I needed to leave after spending an exhausting 3.5 hours of tmad scientist experiment. So I paid the extra costs of bowls to highlight my hair and left. I went to another hair salon to desperately fix my hair and I discovered it was a lot worst than I thought. My hair was so overprocessed that the back of my head looked like an 80 year old hair with white strands everywhere and the ends were completely damaged. I had yellow and brown highlights and the highlights were uneven to the roots! Pictures are attached for review." Thank God the new hair salon fixed my hair entirely! I had a graduation, Mother's Day celebration, and my birthday all in the same weekend. The Temple nearly ruined everything for me and I cannot warn others enough about the risk you take going to this school. Had a great experience today. The student was very friendly and excited to do my hair; which I appreciated. At normal salons you are often just an appointment between other appointments but I appreciated that the student wanted to hear what I wanted in a cut and to surpass my expectations. I also really appreciated that when the student was unsure of how to do something like blend in my growing out bangs, rather than attempting to do it apprehensively she called over her instructor and the instructor did the trimming while walking the student though the steps. I went in not having an exact idea of how I wanted my hair but general pictures of what I was looking for. I figured this would be the best method of getting what I wanted rather than describing since I'm not a professional and didn't want to accidentally tell them something wrong. I thought during our consultation that the ladies working with me understood exactly what I was looking for. Four hours later, my hair was finally done and a different color than expected. I'm sure if I had said something they would have fixed it or scheduled me a comeback, however it was already their closing time and I was still in shock. I won't call the color awful, but I will say I am not scheduled for color correction at another salon. With that being said, the staff and students that worked with me were all very nice and were pleasant to be around. Wonderful people. I just got home from a pretty terrible experience at Temple. Disclaimer: I used a Groupon for a cut, partial highlights, and blowout. Perhaps because I was using a groupon, I was given the B team? There were three students working on me (one was shadowing). I explained I only wanted a trim for the hair cut, and that my bangs needed to be at eyebrow length and not highlighted. I asked for golden/caramel color highlights with no red. I showed multiple pictures. Neither of the "lead" students new how to do highlights - it's a school, I get it, but they should have some experience. I guess I'm glad they asked for help? The main student kept complaining about how tall I was (I am 5'8) and she didn't know how to reach the top of my head comfortably. So there was a search for a stool...no stool. there was a search for another chair. Fine, I moved into another chair. That wasn't short enough for her so she told me to slouch down, which was pretty uncomfortable for the hour it took to put 10 foils in my hair. They took care to get close to the color I wanted, which took a really long time. Again, I get that it is a school, but I was in the rinse chair for another full hour. When I was almost ready to get up to finally get to the cut, the girl lost control of the faucet and sprayed water everywhere, and laughed about it. My lower back was drenched but I was told "it wasn't that bad" and had to ask for a towel to dry off. Then the cut. A trim. Like a trim, guys. I was in the chair getting a trim and basic layers for another full hour. It took us three times to try to get the bangs right. At this point I look at my watch and realize that I have been here for 3.5 hours and am sitting in a chair with wet hair and an unfinished cut. I say that I need to leave soon so they called over the teacher who evened out my hair and tried to fix my bangs. When it was time to leave the chair, the lead student pulled off my cape too fast and dumped all of the hair trimmings on to my clothes. The teacher was mortified and tried to get the hair off with the hair dryer to little avail. They didn't finish drying my hair (which I guess is my fault because I said I needed to leave soon...and their hairdryer broke) but I was charged an extra $15 for "color", even though I didn't get the blow-out included in the groupon. That's actually the least horrible part of this experience. So here I am, with wet hair, crooked bangs with unwanted highlights in them (stripes really), highlights that start about an inch from my skull, and in a pretty bad mood. The kicker was when I walked out of the shop to go to my car, the lead student was sitting on the curb trash talking me. So I guess you get what you pay for. read more

Thank you! -- I spent the past 10 years obtaining service at Aveda schools in DC & Chicago (because I really love the idea of experiential learning for students) but after several poor experiences I decided to try something new yesterday. Best decision in years! 1/5/2019 -- My second appointment was confirmed for today. However, at "The Temple," I was informed that I did not have a reservation despite having the confirmation from their online system that I did. Unfortunately, I didn't obtain the same experience as I did my first time there -- I didn't try to make another appointment. Should you desire an appointment, I would suggest making one in-person or calling for an appointment as their online system appears unsatisfactory. I will not be returning as it's a 45 minute drive for me to get there. -- If I was local, I would most likely try them again. read more

Really disappointed- loved my stylist- she is about to graduate and we along with her teacher supervisor decided on the color (which was fine) but I was really there for the cut and wanted something different-then at 1/4 of the way into the cut, her teacher left and another stepped in (no explanation why) and I left with the EXACT hair cut I had already! I have never had a bad hair day coming out of here! My hair was even saved here once due to Awapuhi treatments. I love that I can go somewhere and pay a fraction of the price for great hair. I have blonde locks and get so many compliments on them and while I do care for my hair with regular cuts, treatments, and supplements, I do give credit to the Paul Mitchell school. I love that the teachers are always available and that I can also help a student get better at their craft. I've paid so much money to have a regular salon not quite get it right but something about the school, I always leave happy. I deeply regret going to this school. I went here because I had to move to a different state and wanted to continue my education. Since I was a transfer student I was treated totally different. I came from an Aveda Institute, so the culture is totally different. Too laid back. No organization. No real structure. They only teach one type of hair texture (no ethnic hair training, no kinky haired mannequins). I came to school to do hair, all types of hair, not just one. They JUST hired an African American woman before I had to drop out (she's really nice & knowledgeable as well). You don't have a schedule, they just wing everything. You never know what you're doing BUT there's a "schedule." Many days we wondered around or sat for a while doing nothing, waiting on some direction. Best teacher in there is Ashley B. Redheaded, short, & totally adorable. Very informative. Tentative to her students & didn't treat me different being a transfer student. That's phase 1. After phase 1, it's a jungle. Any time I asked questions because I was a transfer, they would make me look stupid in front of the class like my questions didn't matter. Guess I was asking too detailed questions in front of fresh students. I don't know. Ignoring students isn't teaching. Then they wanted my help when students were struggling to do a simple pin curl. I think it also made it bad for me because the students were young & my peers were my teachers BUT there was a mother, daughter students so...idk man. Finally get back down to the clinic floor, I got one guest the whole time. Mind you, in my previous school, I was taking guests on the clinic floor for months and had a portfolio to show. They want me to help other students learn BUT you don't help me learn by getting hands on experience. Then I called to ask how many hours I had accumulated the time I was there, they sent me straight to their collections department like I called to pay the $3k bill they gave me for dropping out. Just had the worst experience ever at The Temple. The Phase 2 - yes, that's the more advanced student - had NO IDEA what she was doing. I came in with hair past my shoulders with very little layering and wanted a long layered pixie cut for the summer. What I ended up with was a very short layered man's haircut in the back, with shaggy unlayered hair on the top. When I expressed my dissatisfaction, the learning leader (that's teacher, in temple-speak, and should mean someone who knows what they are doing), simply started trimming the top, now dry, hair. I actually had to SHOW the TEACHER how to cut layers! SHE had NO IDEA! Then, when I ask for product - like mousse or something - to style my hair to see if anything could be done, both the student and teacher looked at my like I was nuts. In the end, I just left (very angrily) and went home to cut my own hair to give it some semblance of shape. Of course, when I got home, the response from my daughter was 'What the F*** did they do to your hair?!' I spent a whole five minutes cutting the rest of my hair (oh, did I tell you, the whole experience took 1.5 hours in the chair, and I had to cut my own hair!) and decided to go back to give the school a 'teaching moment' for 'real life experiences'. Oh, this is where the experience GETS WORSE. I went in and the learning leader and the receptionist were laughing at the treatment I received. How do I know it was me they were laughing at, you ask? Well, for one, they both looked at me, said 'this isn't a real salon' and 'you signed a waiver, there is nothing you can do' and continued laughing. Yes, that's right. When you go to the Temple for a hair cut, you waive all rights to satisfaction, in this learning leader's and receptionist's eyes. You set yourself up to be laughed about when the students and teachers screw up, and if you believed them, you have no recourse. And, to make matters worse, I had spent $100 a few months back to be a 'member' and get free haircuts all year long. I guess that is Temple-speak for "SUCKER - we get to f*** your hair up many times and laugh about it all year long". My point in going back was to show the student - and apparently the teacher and receptionist as well - that in the 'real world' you actually have to work to please the customer. Had I received a haircut like this at a salon - or even the hair cuttery! - I would have had legal recourse against the business. Of course, the owner did approach me and was the only one in the salon who was reticent. She explained that the hundreds of dollars I currently have in gift certificates for the salon can be spent at their other location in Annapolis. She also asked to be given a second chance and that if choose to come in again, she will personally oversee my next appointment. After 10 years of being a customer at The Temple - or even as a first time customer - that was the least I would have expected. The front desk staff are snooty and ruuuude, like they are doing you a favor checking you in and out. A particular Disney princess (but spelled stripper style) is especially fun. But once you get past that, it's all good. It does take longer because it's a school, which is fine as long as you schedule accordingly. I've been four times now, all level 2 stylists. Today was the first time the level 2 seemed more like a level 0. She needed her hand held through everything, was open about not being able to remember any haircuts and dropped everything she put in her hand. My hair turned out fine because her trainer held her hand. That's the beauty of this place, they can't really mess you up too bad because they are always getting checked in on. The trainers are all really nice and helpful, they want to be sure you leave happy. The prices are ridiculously cheap. But be aware everything is ala carte, flat ironing etc. are all extra. Get on their email list, they often send out deals and discount days that save you even more. Highly recommended. I should mention there's no parking and the metered parking is very expensive and has a two hour limit. Park by Baker Park and walk over. The street by the dog park has free, unlimited time parking. read more

Recently I took my 5 year old grand daughter to Paul Mitchell's beauty school in Frederick, MD. I asked for a wash and blow dry, nothing more. After the stylist started shampooing her hair I stepped outside to put money in a parking meter. When I returned an employee came up to me and said they would not be able to blow dry my grand daughter's hair because she started crying. I asked if they could at least dry her hair (cold outside and wet hair). She said no they could not. She referred me to two African American girls and told me I could call them. She said there would be no charge for the wash. I still gave the student a $10 tip because I thought she at least washed the hair. I left and had to scramble to find someone to wash and dry her hair. I was able to find another salon where the stylist asked if I wanted my grand daughter's hair washed. I told her I just had her hair washed at Paul Mitchell's. She proceeded to show me the back of my grand daughter's hair which I did not see when I left the shop. The hair was dirty. I wish I had known the girl at Paul Mitchell's didn't even know how to wash hair. I would have kept my $10. That service was ridiculous. Joyce Bowman read more

I give this salon one star even though I would like to give it zero as it doesn't deserve any. Showed up for my appointment ten minutes early only to find the salon closed. I called the number and the message said it was closed due to harsh weather and bad driving conditions. Of which neither exist. No phone call was made to me to alert me that the salon would be closed down for the day. I find that extremely rude and highly unprofessional. I cannot believe your school would treat its customers in this manner. Bad business.... read more

I loved the Paul Mitchell School I went to in my hometown. I never had an issue with any appointments there, so I was excited to learn of Temple when I moved to Fredrick a few years ago. It used to be great, but I've been disappointed with my last few visits and today's was the last straw. First issue today was they called less than 30 minutes before my appointment to ask that I come in about an hour later. I was just leaving my house and didn't have any other plans, so while it was inconvenient it wasn't a big deal. Everything started out fine when I arrived. The student who cut my hair was nice enough, but she must have used hemp products on me because my hair reeks of hemp, and I detest the smell. Students used to ask or let me know what products they planned to use so I had an opportunity to say something if I didn't want a particular product to be used on me, but that hasn't happened during my last several visits. The biggest issue today was I went in for a trim, but somehow ended up with 2-3 inches chopped off. Before cutting my hair, the student even asked if a half inch was fine. I told her a little more is okay if my ends are really bad because it had been a while since my last haircut, but I didn't expect "a little more" to turn into 4 times more! I was seated low in the chair and was not offered a mirror after the cut was done, so I didn't see how much had actually been cut off until I got home. I was LIVID. Yes, my hair will grow back, but in the meantime I'm stuck with a haircut I am not happy with. I guess you get what you pay for. Needless to say, I won't be back. read more
