I am pleasantly pleased with my color service. Was seen within 5 mins of my appointment time. Student stylist was professional. Instructor was available for consultation/recommendations when needed. I liken the experience to a teaching hospital. Lots of students 'watching' and asking questions about technique. I will definitely return. This place is a great deal for a real-deal professional service. One word of caution. The Yelp appointment scheduler does not currently work. Made initial appointment through Yelp, called school to confirm and they had no record of my appointment.

Natasha and Alisha did an amazing job doing an all over color today! My roots were dark and ends were blonde. We chose a mixture of warm browns to go all over! Super long process but overall I ended up really loving the color! Natasha helped me choose an aftercare product and I will definitely be getting more! Will be going back to her for my root touch ups for sure!

Just moved to the area and was doing a bit of exploring. Drove past the school and thought that it would be really cool to get my hair cut by a student. Came home and tried to find out if they're open to the public. After a little bit of searching and a phone call I had made an appointment! A few days later I was entrusting my hair to a lovely lady named Kat. Her, with the help from her teacher Reece, cut and styled my hair exceptionally well! I had such a fun time, too! I'll certainly be going back :) Update: 12/21/2013 Still head over heels for this place. I'm always impressed with the attention to detail and the enthusiasm both the students and the instructors have for hair styling.

This is my 1st time here...Got a shampoo, cut, blow dry for $26 w/o tip. The school is in the backside of Ollie's n Mom's store in the shopping center on rte 175 n rte 95 Jessup side. If you want color I think it's a good deal for both the students n clients since they get practice n u get a cheaper deal than non-school salons. My stylist was Selena :-)

I was looking for someone new to cut my hair and happened to find the Paul Mitchell school. I was a little nervous because I haven't made any changes to my hair in years and my last hair cut (at my normal place) didn't go so well. I allowed it to grow out for years, it was very long and unmanageable. I was ready for a change. I booked an appointment with the school, granted I thought the person on the phone could have been nicer, but that doesn't diminish my experience. As soon as I arrived I was greeted and asked to have a seat. A few minutes later Holly walked up with a huge smile and greeted me. She immediately put me at ease and I felt confident about my decision to have my hair cut at the school. After I was seated we began discussing options and I asked her to cut my hair for Locks of Love. Holly was very excited about my decision, she put my hair in a ponytail and chopped it off. Holly have me a bob cut ending right below the ears. She continually checked with me to see if I liked it and her teacher barely had to assist, she only came around to watch, check her work and speak to me! Overall everyone was wonderful and nice. I really enjoyed my visit. Holly was able to give me a manageable cut and fix some issues I had with my previous cut, which were my bangs. Thank you Holly and the whole team!!! You're awesome and I'll be back!

This was my first time at the salon and I was surprised that I didn't have to wait around at all. It was very efficient. Kara did an awesome job consulting me on the best way to do balayage and highlighting to achieve the exact look I wanted based on samples I brought in. She also recommended a great way to cut my hair to maintain my long layers while adding more style to it. Her supervisor checked in every step of the way so I felt at ease that I was in great hands. All the staff I encountered were friendly and knowledgeable. I got a whole new color and hairstyle at an amazing price. It was a great experience and I'm looking forward to going back.

Hair done by Da' Naisa and Alyson! Was a dark brown before! love it,,, thank you girls

This was my first time at the salon because I am newer resident to the area. After checking reviews I figured I better give this place a try. My student stylist Da'Naisa was very professional and friendly. She nailed the exact colors that I wanted, and double checked with me every step of the way to make sure it was exactly what I wanted. Unfortunately, In the middle of the process they had her switch to a another student because she had to attend class even though she wanted to finish my hair. That was still okay though, because I came in with brunette hair and was informed by both student and instructor at the beginning of my appointment that I would be there for a while because I had to get a couple processes in order to achieve the red color that I wanted , and that they would probably have to switch students for part of it. I would give the Instructor an A+ Also, she was very attentive to all the students and even helped apply some of the color to my hair! I was switched to another student name Alyson who was also really great! She finished up the ending of my color, gave me a conditioning treatment, and also cut and blow dryed my hair. Very friendly and easy going girl, who seemed to know exactly what she was doing. The end result of this was beautiful and probably one of my favorite color treatments I have EVER had.I will definitely be back, and I would recommend Da'Naisa and Alyson to everyone!

I called several times, but no one answered. Finally, someone picked up, and I told the receptionist I had booked a hair appointment for 3/12 at 5:30pm, which included my daughter. I also mentioned that I left a comment section requesting that we both get our hair done. The receptionist said okay and claimed she noted it for both of us on 3/12 at 5:30pm. On 3/12, my daughter and I arrived for services. The receptionist only recorded my daughter's appointment and I told her I was also getting my hair done. I explained I called to confirm and reminded her that my daughter is owed a trim from the last paid service. She looked confused, so I asked if she understood what I was saying and showed her proof from the previous receipt with the manager on duty's signature. About ten minutes later, I voiced my concern to the manager on duty. She said it was okay, and I could still get my hair done, then she went to the back. While waiting in the area, I talked with other clients in the waiting area. The manager came out and said she heard there was some controversy and that no one could request a student because this is a school and all students need to have a chance. She then asked to speak with me outside. First, she accused me of being irate with the receptionist-- which was untrue. If asking questions makes me irate, then I was. If she takes an innocent question as irritation, that's her issue, not mine, and I don't feel guilty. Second, she claimed I posted a bad review online, which was false. If I disliked the service, I wouldn't have returned. I then asked her to show me the negative review she says I wrote. She came back and said the student left but she saw the review herself, which is now gone. It was never there because I never wrote it, ma'am. If I did, then it's clear she can't handle criticism. Not everyone is a good stylist. If someone feels they didn't get good service, they have a right to write their truth, and the manager should accept it and move on. The third false claim was that I said I didn't want certain stylists to do my hair because they were playing with my hair and did a poor job. I told her that was another lady, not me, and I detailed these accusations-- three in total--and I am offended. She then tried to change the language and said she was just asking questions, but those were outright accusations without proof. Throughout the conversation, one of her focused on professionalism. But what professionalism did she display when she was constantly accusing me? The worst part is that she doesn't think she was wrong. To the manager, For the record, ma'am, I don't need any services from this school. There are other hair schools and salons nearby. I didn't do any of the things you allege I did. I am writing this review today because this experience was well deserved (no stars if I could). You are not a professional. The receptionist is upset because I told you what happened, and you and she fabricated stories--saying I was irate, that I posted a bad review, and that I said someone was playing in my hair and did a bad job. Girl, bye! There are better places out here with better customer service.

My recent experience as a client at your cosmetology school was unfortunately disappointing,…read moreprimarily due to a lack of professionalism and customer service from one of your students and the front desk staff. As a former cosmetology student myself, I understand the importance of both technical skill and client interaction. During my appointment, the student assigned to me seemed to be having a difficult day. She initially called out the wrong name, mistaking me for my goddaughter who I had previously brought in for services. When this was corrected, it became clear my service was not properly listed under my name. The student then appeared confused when I stated I was there for a color service. When I suggested she double-check with the front desk, she abruptly walked away, stating, "I don't want to do her hair. I want someone else." This was unprofessional and frankly, quite shocking. What was equally concerning was the response from the front desk when I attempted to address the situation. Instead of listening to my legitimate concerns, I was met with a closed mind and told I was "being disrespectful." I was surprised and offended by this dismissal, as I was simply trying to explain the situation calmly and respectfully. As a client, and someone who understands the industry, I would never intentionally be disrespectful. It felt as though my experience was being minimized and my character questioned without a fair hearing. I believe instructors are aware of which students may have difficulties, and it's crucial for the school to foster an environment where professionalism and respectful communication are consistently upheld by both students and staff. A truly professional front desk would have de-escalated the situation and shown a willingness to understand the client's perspective, rather than immediately placing blame. The student went to the area where the other students were to gossip about it and try to gain consensus. While I appreciate the learning environment a cosmetology school provides, this incident highlights a significant gap in the application of crucial customer service and professional conduct. I hope this feedback can be used constructively to improve future client experiences. Building a Clientele (Even as a Student): Even in school, you'll be working on real people. If you provide excellent service, those clients are more likely to return, recommend you to others, and potentially become your future clients once you graduate and are fully licensed. Reputation: Your reputation starts forming the moment you begin working with clients. A good reputation for customer service will follow you throughout your career. Conversely, a reputation for being dishonest or having a poor personality can be very difficult to overcome. Being Nice and providing Grace goes a long way. I have to add that I posted sn amazing review in the past this year and Ms. Shelly was Amazing. She still is Amazing giving the magnitude of work she does and her school responsibilities. I had to memorialize my opinion for lessons learned purposes.

Since then it has moved (to Arnold) and expanded to become the Chesapeake School of Esthetics. The program was excellent and in fact I moved from Minnesota to Maryland to get my makeup artist license from CSMA. At the time the school was a one woman operation, with Betty J Wilder acting as admissions office and instructor. According to the website there is now at least one other staff member onboard. I attended the 40 Hour Makeup Demonstrators Program. We met once or twice a week and the program was completed in about two months. We learned about color theory, face types, skin undertones, makeup applications, and good sanitation practices. I also took a one day followup seminar on photography makeup. Betty is an invaluable resource when it comes to knowing about people, trends, and companies in the beauty business. She is kind, friendly, approachable and absolutely hilarious!! She also introduced me to Paula Begoun's books and debunked many skincare myths (see my review of Paula's Choice skincare: http://www.yelp.com/biz/paulas-choice-renton-2#hrid:TB6hGsxic3s0_7YlZANAug/src:self). My class was maybe ten people at the most, which ensured every student got as much attention and information as they needed. Students ranged from people just interested in cosmetics to people already working as makeup artists. The final exam involved a written test and makeup application demonstration. Though the makeup artist license is not a full cosmetology or aesthetician license, I learned alot, it helped me get a job with two cosmetic lines, and I still get a discount at Sally's Beauty Supply! I highly recommend this program for someone solely interested in makeup, and not hair, nails, waxing, or skincare. Just be aware of the limitations of the license, as many salons will probably prefer someone with a full license. This program currently costs $980. I can't say much about the 600 Hour Skin Care and Makeup Artistry Program as Betty was just getting the esthetics program started when I was at CSMA. According to the website, the program runs for twenty weeks, enrollment is limited to eight students, and the course includes lecture/theory and hands on labs. Topics covered include: Facial and Body Treatments, Facial Massage, Skin Analysis, Hair Removal, Makeup Application, Skin Care Equipment , Color Analysis, and Retails Skills. The cost is $8,750. There are not many schools or programs like this in the country (believe me, I looked at almost all the possibilities) so if this is your specific area of interest, I highly recommend the Chesapeake School of Esthetics. After I graduated, I passed my state boards and proceeded on to work in a spa for about 2 years. Paulette is truly really great at what she does. She also has a big heart!

Be careful, they charge 25% cancellation fee if you cancel a camp registration before May 31, and…read moreafter June 1, they only refund you their class credit. And if you cancel it within two weeks before the camp starting date, you will get no refund! Read their demanding policy before you register! Yes, I signed it, but I did not read the policy and assumed this camp's policy was similar to other camps' policy in this area that there is no charge if a cancellation happens more than 40 days before the camp starting date. I write this review just to remind people PLEASE READ THE POLICY! There will be NO REFUND for CANCELLATIONS AFTER JUNE 1. They only refund their camp credits to you so you can not get your money back!

Club Scientific Chesapeake offers all kinds of programs, but the one I'm reviewing is the one my…read moreson attended, which is for the Summer Camp of Camp Jurassic for ages 4-5 years old. I knew it was the perfect camp for my son since Camp Jurassic deals with dinosaurs and gemstones, both of which my son loves. The camp staff seem to be very caring of the children and offer plenty of fun activities. My son was excited every day to go to camp (and it was his first time ever going to camp) and after each day he always brought home a variety of projects that they had worked on during the day which varies from an erupting volcano, to an edible volcano, to a dinosaur model, to magnetic gemstones, rock candy, and so much more! My son was thrilled to go on a dinosaur dig where he "discovered" dinosaur bones that they put together. I'm thrilled to discover a camp that challenges my son both mentally (since they do scientific experiments and learning projects) as well as physically when they go outside to play. I've never seen my son so excited about attending anything before and he comes home every day with stories of all the fun he had during the day and all the new things he's learned. I highly recommend this company if you're looking for some place for your child to have a lot of fun as well as learn a lot in the process, since my son can't seem to stop raving about how great of an experience he's had with them!
