My experience here was average at best and I would not come back. There were several things that I found to be odd about this place, but most noteworthy was the fact that Zumi applied so much pressure to all areas of my body and did not care to modify her technique based on my response. So when I was in excruciating pain, I had to ask her if it was OK for me to hold my hand up to indicate I did not consent to move further. I did this after initially asking if she could reduce the pressure to which she responded in a rude voice something along the lines of I could not tell her how to do her job. While I have never had deep tissue massage done before, I had read online that the therapist should adjust the pressure based on your body and responses. This was not the case. The way she chose to communicate with me felt that she was annoyed that I could not breathe through the pain, but the reality was that I could not breathe through the pain because I felt so uncomfortable with her overall style and hoped it would get better but it never did. To level your expectations, please note that this is a "hole in the wall" type of place with very bare bones setup (the towels felt 10 years old). Most places will ask you to show up 10 to 15 minutes before your appointment, and when I did so, she did not even come out to greet me and instead snapped through the door "I need until 11:30." She lacks the warmth that I found with every other masseuse. I read another negative review on Yelp, and I'm not surprised by that person's experience at the least bit. I believe every word she said after my interactions with Zumi. However I want to add that I did have a neck issue which she resolved and I was not in pain for more than 2 days post massage. read more

BEWARE!!! I honestly cant believe this person has been licensed. She injured me so badly I needed medical attention and then tried to gaslight me into thinking it was my fault! The number one thing a massage therapist is supposed to do during a session is look for signs of pain in a client to lower the pressure. She did not look at me for most of the session and missed me grimacing in pain, so i groaned in pain and actually said OUCH multiple times and she still did not stop. After the session, i was in so much pain that i could not breathe deeply for several days. Its been almost a week and it is still excruciating every time i cough or sneeze. People make mistakes, so i wanted to be nice and give her the chance to correct it. I messaged her and she gave me a quick half hour session and a thing of pain relief lotion and told me that it was "just energy" and that it was "normal." I get deep tissue massages all the time. A little soreness the day after is normal. Not being able to even take deep breaths for a week after is NOT. I kept in touch with her and in every text, her apologies skirted accountability, and she kept acting like it was my bodies fault for being hurt. Eventually i had to go to urgent care because the pain was so bad i couldnt function. The dr immediately ordered an x ray because he thought that she might have fractured a rib that damaged the mucosal lining of my lung because the pain was so severe. That was a concern i brought up to her in person and she dismissed it and called it energy. Luckily, all the dr found was deep bruising, but that should not be something that happens after a massage, and the way that she avoided accountability and dismissed my medical needs is scary and dangerous. If it had been what the dr thought, it literally could have killed me, but she was more concerned about not admitting she was wrong. In future texts, she kept bringing up that at one point i said i was feeling better. Yes, at one point, when i first woke up, i was. Then as i started to get up and move around it got exponentially worse, which prompted my trip to urgent care. I told her that as well but she is cherry picking the story to fit her needs. She asked me to tell her what would make it better, and i told her that what she should have done was take accountability and actually apologize for hurting me, not apologize that MY body reacted that way, and that she should have worked with me through my original complaint to make up for the $200 medical bill i incurred due to her carelessness and the week of intense pain i was in. (The dr actually asked that i get a breathing device because my breath was so restricted that he said it could cause lung complications) I told her that that was what she should have done from the start, but that now my trust in her was diminished so greatly that it was too late. I did not swear at her or call her any names. I remained as kind and understanding as one could be while setting boundaries and asking for a real apology. She responded by calling me abusive and saying that what i was doing by calling her out was EXTORTION! What was i trying to extort? Id already told her i didnt want any of her services anymore at that point! Im trying to get groupon to cover my medical bill that she incurred and get a refund, but thats it. She shows all the signs of someone with narcissistic personality disorder. She presents as warm and caring to reel you in, but then will not take accountability for any of her actions, blames the victim, and then tries to gaslight the victim into thinking that her abuse is their fault and that they are crazy! She actually told me i need therapy! Its textbook gaslighting, textbook narcissistic abuse. STAY AWAY!!!! This person seems nice at first like all narcissists do, but she is terrifying!!!! read more

Zumi is a genius. I first got a massage from her at a chiropractor office a few years ago. When I heard she left, I tracked her down and have since followed her to two more locations. I am very picky when it comes to massages. I like lots of focused pressure and that's what Zumi provides. this is not a massage where I fall asleep! It often takes some deep breaths and concentration to release the tension and it's always worth it. Zumi listens well to my needs and responds with skilled solutions. She knows the body well -- I'll complain about pain in the side of my neck and she'll find a spot on the back of my thigh that releases it! This isn't your typical feel good massage; it's real deep body work. I came in to deal with some lower back pain that was a by-product of my knee surgery.
