Did not hear anything back so Friday I drove 40 minutes to the tea room to see what was going on. Instead of an apology I received hostility from the manager, Taylor. Right off the bat she lies to my face claiming she called my number (she did confirm the number) and talked directly to me. Obviously not, I would have been aware of a direct conversation. So then she changes and says she left a voicemail. To which I pull out my phone and show her the call log on my phone and I have zero record of a call or a voicemail coming from the tea room. To which she replies "sorry your phone doesn't work." Clearly we weren't getting anywhere and I ask to talk to the owner, who I'm told "isn't here." After false accusations from Taylor saying I went into the dining room and cussed in front of children I decided enough was enough and left. Loudly. I am aware of that and I fully admitted that to police. Definitely was not appropriate however I was quite heated at the time. Long story short I end up calling the police since she is refusing to let me cancel and get a refund. "If you wanted a refund you should've canceled 60 days ago." Wow. Come to find out the owner was there the whole time. Poor management on both their parts. They eventually agreed to a refund. Owner calls my mom yesterday and attempts to cover for Taylor. Respectfully, a family member dying is no excuse to treat your customers like crap. My own father passed away and I took time off work because I could not deal with the public. We did receive a refund and the owner made sure to comment on my 1 star review I left. Yes I left a rather polite negative review. Customers are entitled to do that after a less than satisfactory interaction. So thank you Dragonfly Tea Room & Gift Shop for effectively ruining my bridal shower for me. What could've been a quick apology for miscommunication turned into hostility and lies. My family has already said we will not ever be returning here. Please feel free to call my mother again if this post upsets you.

They have a few things for sale, but it is not a small gift shop. The few tea rooms that I have gone to did have a souvenir shop to buy tea, bakery items or small tea pots or cups. But I think their focus is on the tea room and food. Their tea is placed in tea pots that are beautiful and they place it on warmer to keep it warm. I had the loveliest afternoon tea with my mom at Miss Hickory's. AMBIANCE: You'll step back into the 1900's with time-specific decor and waitresses' attire. Miss Hickory's occupies a mid-1800s farmhouse that was owned by the first blacksmith in Strongsville, William Weller. The current owners preserved the historic charm, transformed the farm house into multi-room tea house. There are two main dining areas on the first floor, and multiple gorgeous themed tea rooms upstairs (like the Gathering Room and Storybook Tea Room). The interior contains a lot of refurbished and vintage furniture, charming housewares, and decor. Think pastels, florals, and lace. The space comfortably accommodates big groups and pairs. Small parking lot is available onsite, consider car pulling if attending with a large group. RESERVATIONS: I personally despise the commitment of reservations, but the process here is very easy. I emailed the tea house, received same day email response, and was not charged to hold the reservation. The tea room space started filling very quickly at open, so it's best to reserve your space. FOOD/TEA: Multi-page menu will accommodate all types of tastes. Find another seasonal menu at your table with all the flavors of the season. The menu contains signature plates, sandwiches, soups, sides, sweets, desserts, and beverages. You can have anything from a full tea feast to no tea at all equally enjoying your time. If you're a tea connoisseur, read all tea descriptions at the end of the menu. We ordered Miss Hickory's High Tea Sampler ($23 per person) that contains a shareable 3-tier serving tray with finger sandwiches, wonton cups, strawberries, scones, sweets, and crème. While I have seen larger portions at other tea houses, the food amount was very filling. Everything was extremely fresh, much fresher than experienced at other tea houses. I most enjoyed the walnut scones, they were so delicious! The standalone menu items seemed expensive and were served in very small quantities based on our observation of other guests. I don't think that ordering standalone items offers value. My mom thought that the experience was pricey, while I think it's about at market price. Since the tea is not included in the sampler, we ordered and shared two tea pots - Loose Leaf Arctic Berry and Black Currant ($4 per teapot with refills but no sharing). They were served with a tea warmer which was incredible, I love me some hot tea! The flavors started out very mild then evolved during our experience due to longer steeping. We agreed that Arctic Berry was our favorite tea. If you're not into loose leaf teas, you'll discover a very long Twinings selection. EXPERIENCE FOR KIDS: Many guests arrived with kids who were very enthusiastic about tea parties. They wore adorable matching outfits. Kids received their own tea experience - tiny tea cups and teapot. It was really cute! The room upstairs (Storybook Tea Room) seems to well accommodate anyone with children, has fairytales book, and play tea set. I can envision an adorable children's tea party in this space. Upon arrival, the charming house and well-manicured landscaping set a welcoming tone. A sign at the end of the walkway requests that guests wait there or in their cars until their reservation time, which makes sense since the waiting area inside is a bit small. We were warmly greeted by the proprietor and led inside, where we were introduced to a unique tea selection process. Instead of a menu, guests choose their tea from a cabinet of jars. You open each jar to smell its contents and make your selection. While the jars were labeled, many labels were slightly smudged, and some jars weren't very fragrant, making the process a bit cumbersome. Personally, I would have preferred a traditional menu, but the owner seemed somewhat put off by this preference. Interestingly, both my mom and I chose the same tea, and our hostess chided us for lacking an adventurous spirit. That interaction was a little more than a bit off-putting, but we moved on to our table. The table settings were elegant, with matching teapots placed on stands heated by candles. However, while my mom's candle was lit, mine was not, and the hostess didn't light it upon serving. It seemed like an oversight that could have been easily avoided. We both enjoyed the black currant tea, which was delightful and definitely worth recommending. However, I noticed that the table was set with paper napkins that were thin and unimpressive. I definitely prefer cloth napkins, especially for tea. Given the overall ambiance, this detail seemed out of place--almost like using plastic forks at a fine dining experience. Moving on to the food, everything was beautifully presented and delicious. The grilled sandwich with provolone, spinach, and a herby spread was a standout, though wiping my hands on the thin napkin just highlighted the fact that it was not cloth. The Hawaiian chicken salad in a croissant was also excellent. However, the cucumber sandwich, served on raisin or craisin bread, overpowered the cucumbers and cream cheese with its strong flavor. But the portions were generous, so come hungry! The scone, a glazed lemon poppy seed, was moist and paired perfectly with Devonshire cream. The sweets were a highlight: a delicate cream horn with edible gold glaze, a summer berry cupcake, and a filled cookie with white chocolate and berry--each was as delicious as it was beautiful. Overall, while the tea and food were enjoyable, and the setting was lovely, the tea selection process and the use of paper napkins detracted from the experience for me. If you're a fan of tea, it's worth a visit, but be prepared for these quirks and go with an empty stomach!

In all honesty, everything was very good! I would recommend adding a small salad to the line up, however. Also, make sure to call ahead of time to buy scones to go!
