Definition of a mom and pop restaurant. The restaurant itself isn't anything fancy but the staff were so friendly and patient. Things were a bit slow with one waitress covering all the tables and the front. The spring rolls were good. The stir fry was okay. I wasn't expecting it to be so saucey and the menu indicated it to be spicy but I didn't feel any spice. The rice seemed old as it has some hard pieces in it. Excellent fusion restaurant for different types of Asian cuisine! In addition to the food options, there are also different types of bubble teas available. We were greeted when we arrived in the restaurant and was able to be seated immediately. I noticed that the restaurant is doing an excellent job of following COVID safety protocols. Once we were seated, someone came to give us menus and take our drink orders. We ordered appetizers first which were delicious. I highly recommend the summer rolls! The appetizer platter was super good too. My favorite item on the platter was the dumplings. I ordered the pho with shrimp and absolutely loved it! The broth was seasoned well and the plate that contained the fresh veggies for the pho was substantial. In my opinion this is the best pho in the Akron area. It's a pretty simple recipe with few ingredients. We ordered carry out and I could see through the bag that the soup looked different. I took it back inside because I thought they gave me the wrong order, the broth was clear and it had carrots. They said "this is how we make it, I'm sorry it's not what you expected." So we gave them the benefit of the doubt and drove home. The soup tasted like hot water, completely flavorless. After calling and explaining the soup had no flavor, the owner said they would give me 20% off my next order. I explained that I would not be back as I drove 45 minutes to try this restaurant and was not happy with the quality. The owner said sorry, there's nothing we can do. I wrote a google review and you can see the owners response for yourself. They accused me of "altering their ingredients" because I added sides of bean sprouts, extra cilantro, and rice noodles", which is a twist that I learned from a 5 star Thai restaurant in New York City. None of those ingredients would cause the soup to taste like old tea water. The food is also highly overpriced for Ohio Thai food ($50 for 2 soups, 2 Thai teas, carry out). read more

Have been wanting to try this place for years. I miss my little Thai place when I was in jersey next to the laundromat that I used to wash at every Saturday. First off place is empty which I get it but how nice for us. Juju our server was excellent. Ambiance was calming and inviting. Now on to what truly people want to hear..the food. We ordered the appetizer sampler and its just all good. Fresh and homemade and made with care. Dumplings are easily the best I've had. I got the pho beef. I have never had pho and have heard from friends that it is the best around and maybe I am just basing it off this one dish but yes it is the best. I just love the smell of that Thai basil. Wife got the drunken noodles and it is a stick to the ribs dish with so much flavor. Kids meals are a literal dinner and desert combined and prepared elegantly. read more

Thai Pattaya has great pho for the area although you can find very similar tasting pho at the Giant Eagle Market District in Green. I wouldn't recommend getting takeout as you'll miss out on the very eclectic atmosphere. They have a very large selection of hot teas and adorable tea pots to serve it in. The pho broth is hearty and flavorful and is served with all the standard garnishes. I like to order the chicken pho and add on veggies - it gives you a nice filling soup packed with vitamins! Several of the appetizers are very good including the spring rolls (though be careful when biting into them as they are almost always a little extra oily and you could easily burn your mouth) and the papaya salad. The mango sticky rice is a nice after dinner treat and the sticky rice in general is very good (if you've never had sticky rice before - it is literally just rice). read more

Pros: Warm and friendly service. Cute little family restaurant decorated with tea pots and cultural art. Nice, relaxing music and pleasant atmosphere. The restroom was also very clean and so nicely decorated. Cons: Unfortunately, we didn't like the flavor of most of our entrees. Pad Thai was beautifully presented and was a generous portion, with lime, and bean sprouts, but had no flavor of fried garlic, onion, or fish sauce. It tasted like ketchup and starch :( It needed way more sautéed garlic and fish sauce. The noodles needed to be cooked separately and drained to lessen the thick, starchy flavor. Less ketchup or tomato sauce and more fish sauce and scallion. Coconut milk soup was ok, but not enough coconut milk flavor and the chicken pieces in it tasted reheated, as if they were cooked before hand and then added to the soup the next day. On the positive side, there was a generous amount of meat, although we didn't eat most of it. Spring rolls were mostly wrapper, cabbage, and noodle, so not very flavorful. I was out running errands and decided to stop by this out of the way restaurant to eat since I missed lunch. I'm so glad I did! I love Asian food anyway and always enjoy a good bowl of pho when I'm traveling, but I had yet to find a good place since moving back to Ohio. Well, I have a place now. I started out with the Chicken Satay which was okay, but the house-made peanut sauce was the star of that dish. For a drink, I loved the banana bubble tea, although they have so many yummy choices it was hard to chose. Hands down was the vegetable pho that was served with a plate of fresh mung bean sprouts, jalapeños, a sprig of fresh basil, and a cut lime section. The broth was heavenly and perfectly seasoned! This place is my go to spot for Pho in the Akron area. The owner and head chef knows what he is doing and his wife serves the restaurant. They truly care about what they offer and the owner's mom makes fried garlic to accompany their food. It's outstanding. It's not a fancy place, but it's clean and welcoming. This place is technically out of the way of my work commute, but today I made an exception because I was craving pho at work. Typically this place is quiet, usually one server and about a handful of tables. I was alone for a bit besides a big party of about 10 people on the other side of the dining area. The service was spectacular for being just the 1 server. I could tell he was a very hard worker. Took my order, checked how I was doing, chit chatted a bit as well even with other folks coming in and the giant party. Ordered the seafood pho. Their broth is outstanding as well as the contents within. Of course be ready to ask for a container. I decided to also order the bubble tea as a treat. Not your standard bubble tea as it is smoothie-esque and powder based. Still pretty good outside the crunchy ice. We came recently and tried a variety of their options. We order the steamed dumplings, crab rangoons, egg drop soup, beef pho and chicken pad tai. The dumplings and crab Rangoons were our favorite. The chicken pad tai was a bit too saucy but still good. The pho was definitely delicious, the only complaint is that I wish it has more beef. The soup as okay. The service was good. She came around to fill out water multiple times and gave us the check promptly. The restaurant inside is a bit plane and empty. Probably a better take out spot than a date night place. read more

The beef Pho came in a huge bowl but it seemed like all broth and very little beef only three pieces to be exact, for a large not much noodles either. Chicken satay are portion are also super small. The kids meal was neat and made the kids happy for $10 each. Like others that have reviewed, I don't believe the prices are justified even with today's inflation. Stumbled here for lunch today as we were looking for some good pho, the reviews on yelp were good so we decided to try it. The decor is off putting, reminded me of a funeral home to be honest, there is only one waitress working and there were 5 tables so service was extremely slow. We had two kids with us (10 and 7) who love pho and were excited to eat here, however looking at the kids menu they only had chicken fingers, mac and cheese and pizza pockets...no option for any Thai food which is disappointing because not all kids want chicken fingers, and this is a Thai restaurant? We opted to have them share a pad Thai, it was alright but not great. The noodles were drowned in a sauce that tasted almost like barbecue sauce....very sweet. Only reason I gave it three stars was for the pho, boyfriend had seafood and I had the chicken, bowls come in medium and large and the large is HUGE so definitely only get a medium if you are going for lunch....the broth was flavorful, chicken was tender, and my boyfriends seafood was delicious, just wish there was more of it for the price. All in all it's a little overpriced, $45 dollars for two bowls of pho and a pad Thai, drinks come in the can and are two dollars so no refills.....we would probably come back for pho only and not bring the kids next time. read more

There are 4 pieces of tiny shrimp, a teaspoon of scrambled eggs and maybe 5 beAn sprouts and no green onion. There was a tablespoon of crushed peanut slid i. A corner. Same with the pho. Good flavored broth but they were out of meatballs and the meat was a oration my 2 year old would eat. The extras on the side included apiece of romaine lettuce 1 lime sliver, a few bean sprouts and 3 pieces of Thai basil. No cilantro or plum sauce or siracha. I want to try again, eating in. This place used to be great when it was called the tea room. Since the name change and new management it's gone downhill, significantly. This was our third bad visit in a row, so I think we are officially done with them. We were dining in originally, with about 1/3 the restaurant full. No waiter came over at all, not even for a drink order, and after 15 minutes waiting the manager finally came over. We decided to get takeout instead. We ordered a large to go and came back in ten minutes, after pre paying before leaving. When we picked up the food, it was quite lite. Asked if it was a large, was told yes. It was the same broth container as a medium, but we thought there might be more noodles and veggies than normal. Get it all home, and it's a medium. It's barely a medium, in fact... Doesn't even fill up a cereal bowl, let alone a proper pho bowl. Taste was good, so two stars. Quantity is poor. Service is very poor. Price is very high compared to traditional pho at a more established restaurant. I no longer can recommend this place, and it saddens me because we used to come religiously. read more

My dad kept going here and always talking about how good it was, so I thought I would give it a try. It also made sense since it is within walking distance of my house. I tried Pho here for the first time and thought it was amazing! I also tried the seafood pho the second time I came back and it was very flavorful. I also have ordered the appetizer platter both times that I have come here. (Platter of 3 spring rolls, 4 dumplings, 3 satay chicken and 4 crab Rangoon. Served with peanut, soy sauce and sweet and sour sauce). All of the items on the platter are good and the sauces make them even better. It is usually quiet inside, and the ambiance isn't the best, but the food is good. I am not huge on Thai food, so I haven't tried much else on the menu, but will be back. read more

This place was formerly Southern Gardens, but I believe they have since had a change in owner. This is my first time trying their food, so I can't speak for the former establishment, but this place definitely delivers solid Vietnamese food. I found the taro bubble tea to be just a bit too sweet, and the tapioca was way too firm. I wish there were more options on the bubble tea menu, but overall I am satisfied with their selection. Their pho was solid. Broth was very flavorful, and the meatballs were good. I found the beef to be somewhat on the dry side, but still solid. A year ago, I would have given this place 5 stars. The food was flavorful and authentic. Last night, I ordered dumplings, Tom Kah Gai (coconut soup) and one of my favorite Thai dishes, Pad See Ew. The dumplings were very good. However, the soup had little to no flavor other than occasionally getting a sparce piece of cilantro. Pad See Ew is supposed to be: Stir fried thick noodles with egg, choice of meat, broccoli and carrot with dark soy sauce. I chose steak. What I got was a congealed mess of noodles with a few pieces of broccoli and carrots along with slivers of beef. The who thing looked like it was thrown into a pot of boiling water all together (yes the beef was definitely boiled), pulled out and tossed into the take away container. There was definitely no stir frying, no seasoning, no sauce; just a congealed mess of noodles. I tried a piece of steak that tasted off, so the whole thing went into the trash!
