A very nice space... The wait staff were pleasant.... Our table had a few things off the menu. The Rueben sandwich was pretty good. The burger was ok .. they should stick to sandwiches. The couple dinner plates were near inedible. To describe the stroganoff ~ Plain loose broth with overcooked egg noodles. A couple shrooms.. the meat which was very little was leathery .. a scoop of cold sour cream and crispy French onions on top. The onions were an unpleasant choice for a garnish. First time trying the Tavern Grill. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Sadly that's about as positive as this review gets. I had heard the prices were high but was counting on amazing food and atmosphere. I thought the space would be similarly upscale as when it was Spezias. It felt run down and sad. The food was so so. Definitely not the caliber of the prices they charged. $9.00 tall tap beers?! I actually paid $14.00 for a NONALCOHOLIC sangria! $22.00 for my salad (good but not great) and $20.00 for my hubby's fish and chips which looked like frozen out of a bag. The only star was the bruschetta appetizer - it was amazing! Doubt if we will be back. read more

When the TG opened, it was amazing and became my go-to spot to meet friends and take out-of-town guests. The last few visits there, however, have been disappointing. I am disappointed that they have pared down their menu so much (please bring back the meatloaf!) It's been reduced to mostly "bar food" as opposed to the finer dining they initially offered. Our visit to TG last night was disappointing for several reason, unfortunately. It started out when our server (who was pleasant enough) brought our waters and menus and we noticed she had a piece of gauze with a strip of medical tape on her hand. Assuming it was an injury, she should have been put in a role where she was not handling food or, at the very least, put a rubber glove on over her bandage. I ordered the App Trio as my entree. Both the queso and the spinach dip were barely warm and I suspect they had been microwaved. The corn chips were stale and clearly they dumped out what was left in the container because they were mostly crumbs and broken pieces. Not great for dipping. The BB Shrimp was very good, as was the dipping bread, so no complaints there! The service became poor as we neared the end of the meal. The server (again, very pleasant) failed to check on us and we ended up having to ask another server for boxes and tickets. They were brought promptly and our server processed our payments. I'm not giving up on TG, but I hope they go back to what they were when they originally opened. Right now they are on the level of a TGI Fridays, which is very disappointing. read more

Had a nice evening at The Tavern. Came in with no reservations and were seated within 10 min. Our server was super attentive and great for it being so busy. I have a gluten allergy and he took is serious. I love that the menu lists GF items. Makes life easy. I ordered the chicken skewers and let my server know about my allergy. He wrote it down and I didn't get sick after! (Woo). The meal was SO good. Best meal I've had in some time. Can't wait to come back! read more

We were in town for a sports tournament and went here for a team lunch. We had Taren as our server and he was amazing. During the meal, one of the kids choked on his food and Taren immediately went to his aid and gave him the Heimlich, cleared the blockage, and continued filling everyone's drinks. Our waiter was awesome. The food was pretty good. But when the hostess came to our table and asked us to leave because we had exceeded the time limit for our reservation. That was a clear indication that somebody doesn't know what they're doing. When we pushed back a little saying that one of us was a little lightheaded and needed a minute... the hostess told us we had three minutes to leave. Apparently they overbooked their tables in terms of reservations, and they had people waiting. Never mind that they had plenty of empty tables that they had yet to clear. The restaurant is lovely, staff is very friendly. The ambience is bonefish Grill plus cheesecake factory. The food, that's where they lost me. I paid roughly $22 for a plate of fish and chips. It came with three fish sticks, and lukewarm fries. I couldn't finish it. I'll include photos, you can see if you think fish and chips for $21.50 and receiving three fish sticks is worth it. Hint: it's not. My guests got smoked brisket and a plate of fish and chips as well, we got bang bang shrimp as an appetizer, two sodas, one beer, a water. The cost of the bill was $111 with tip. Ridiculous. I have had fish and chips in roughly 10 countries, a multitude of restaurants - and never, I repeat - never. Have I for the price of $21.50 received three fish sticks. Vienna, Austria - $18, 2 full breasts. Paris, France - multiple restaurants - two full breasts. Reykjavík, Iceland - two full breasts, and caught just at the dock outside the restaurant. $23. Tavern Grill - you wasted my money, you need to adjust your portion size on your fish and chips plate. Ridiculously sized portions, and high prices - don't make you a high brow restaurant. read more

We've been here 3 times now and the last 2 times there has been nearly no one here yet eating here has taken almost an hour. We had to wait really long for a portion of our meal, with little apology. Our glasses were dirty with lipstick still on them from previous guests. We had to flag down our server to get a check, but they seem annoyed that people are even at the restaurant. Food was soggy and unseasoned. We really wanted to like this place because it is beautiful inside but we likely won't be back. read more

The service was incredible and so nice to be treated with respect and kindness. The lunch smash burger with coleslaw was what I had and my daughter had the loosey goosy burger with waffle fries. And a martini looked and tasted so divine. Just the atmosphere was so inviting I would love to go back on the patio one nice day no rain or wind or bugs!! I know good luck with being in SD. Food Poisoning. We were there at 5:00 on Easter. I had the brisket sandwich and became violently ill shortly after arriving home.

Went here for Easter brunch...had reservations for 2pm. Arrived 1:30 thinking possibly could get in early but instead the hostess told us it might be a wait since we were early for our reservations which was not the problem, the problem was that the whole time we sat there and waited (until 2:05pm), at least 3 families came in, said they had no reservations and were sat before us. The food was ok (not really for $35 a person and extra for a soda), and our waitress was ok too but I believe if they had that many empty tables, we should have been seated prior to anyone without reservations. read more

Nice atmosphere, service good as you'd expect. Had the French Dip sandwich. What a disappointment. WAGU beef was more like shoe leather. Couldn't bite through it. Meat was tough and stringy and had little flavor. Frankly the French Dip at Arby's is much better and only half the price. $19.50 is an expensive sandwich (came with fries). I really wanted to love this place. It is beautiful ! Sorry to say it was really bad. My friend and I wanted to try something different. I had the smoked brisket sandwich and onion rings. The meat was very hard dried little pieces of meat. First bite had a huge piece of fat that was very unchewable, much as I tried, but was glad I had a napkin handy. The coleslaw on it was inedible. Onion rings weren't mentionable. My friends food was also unmentionable. We left 90% of our food on plate and managed to still leave a tip. We won't be back. read more

New dining in the old Spezia location on S. Louise. Place is really nice inside with tons of available seating. We went on a Monday night, so it wasn't very busy. They have a nice bar area up front and nice dining area. Service was good and they do offer a Happy Hour. Prices are a little on the higher end (3 beers and the club sandwich set me back $52) but the food was good. The onion rings were excellent. We also had the wild rice soup and the Hot Beef which were also good. The only issue we noticed was the lighting was very bright all and set to high including in the bar area. As we were getting ready to leave they did turn them way down which was a huge improvement. Overall, especially considering they just recently opened, we were happy with the experience and will definitely go back in the future. read more

Beautiful place in Woodbury. Food is not bad but not great either. Service was acceptable. All you can eat fish fry is worth it.

We went to The Tavern on our last night in Sioux Falls and while we were very impressed with the restaurants in Sioux Falls this one was a disappointment. My daughter got wings and they came out burned. My husband's chicken sandwich was burned. My sister's margarita was too sour to drink, and I had to send mine back finally. The remodel they did on the inside is flat out mind blowing compared to what it used to be prior to them owning. The Sunday brunch I had was small compared to some but the quality was 2nd to none. The food was so fresh and flavorful.
